Adapting E-Learning to Remote Learning

Adapting E-Learning to Remote Learning

This episode focuses on how two school districts, one suburban and one rural, are adjusting their existing e-learning plans to a longer-term remote learning situation. Shannon Duling is the superintendent of Princeville Community Unit School District 326 in rural central Illinois. John Connolly is the Chief Technology Officer in suburban Consolidated Community High School District 230. Together we discuss the surprising commonalities in their approaches to adapting their existing e-learning plans to our current reality of longer-term remote learning.

This episode was recorded just before the State of Illinois had released their guidelines supporting remote learning. The approaches taken by each of these very different school districts aligns nicely to the state guidelines and provides valuable insight into the process of adapting e-learning plans, which were designed for just a day or two of instructional support, into longer-term remote learning plans.

Adam Welcome Revisited

Adam Welcome Revisited

Several months ago we were fortunate to sit down with Adam Welcome for a discussion about leadership, culture, and improving instruction. The audio quality on our original recording was less than perfect, to say the least. With production assistance from the Learning Technology Center of Illinois, we were able to reduce some of the distractions to help make the episode a little easier on the ear. We’d like to extend our thanks to the Learning Technology Center of Illinois for that assistance, and we hope you enjoy this look back on our talk with Mr. Adam Welcome.

One last thing: We’d really appreciate it if you’d take a moment to give us a rating and a review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Your input helps us improve our podcast and helps spread the word about our show. Thomas C. Murray: Future-Ready, Personal and Authentic

We enjoyed an incredibly informative talk with Thomas C. Murray about preparing students for the future, designing learning spaces, and his new book, Personal and Authentic: Designing Learning Experiences that Last a Lifetime.

Future Ready Schools are “...schools that put kids before adults… (and) do whatever it takes to support all kids… schools where people want to be… where people respect people.”

Learning space redesign is “...not about being pretty for Pinterest, this is understanding how the brain works (and) learns and how do we maximize spaces for learning.”
