Yet, there is a strong sense of Deja Vu as more and more districts and counties announce going fully remote for the unforeseeable future. How do we, as educators and parents, cope with all this uncertainty?

We acknowledge that emotions are integral to our human experience, drive our mindset and mindstate, and are crucial to learner-centered environments.

This special episode is a raw, unscripted response to the death of George Floyd and the global attention to racial inequality in our country that this tragedy sparked. As educators and parents, we stay committed to sharing ideas to make learning better for all. While we certainly don’t have all the answers, in this episode we discuss the importance of honoring the work of social-emotional learning as well as culturally responsive teaching and our responsibilities as parents and educators to infuse diverse and positive representations of people through literacy, curriculum, and social presence.

The 2019/20 school year is coming to a close and the CDC has released reopening guidelines for schools that make one thing clear:
Schools will not look the way we want this fall.
In this episode, we give ourselves permission to grieve as we feel this second wave of emotions. By exploring our own emotions and unpacking our visceral reactions, we realize that auditing our “nows” and “hows” are necessary to move forward. And, as often is the case, reflection clarifies intention. Pulling from sound instructional design, we talk about the importance of focusing on outcomes to slice through the clutter and simplify intent. This brings us an opportunity to invite a “guest” to the table and pour a glass to talk pedagogy and space.

Moving to emergency remote teaching with learners we already knew is one thing, but how do we start the school year with new students?
