On Equality with Zoe Jagger- Hinis
In this episode I had the pleasure of talking with Goju Ryu practitioner, Zoe Jagger-Hinis Sensei. Zoe has a passion for equality and mental health within the martial arts. She is a Karate instructor, blogger, YouTuber and a contributor to the Bugeisha magazine. It was a huge pleasure to meet and chat with a like minded Karate-ka promoting the same values in South Africa. I hope that you will enjoy our conversation.

Internal Dialogue

Equality Matters with Abigail Paige
Abigail and I become friends during the disability coaching course few years ago, Abi is a fantastic young martial artist with a bright future. Her work is very important in the world of Karate, where man dominate the landscape. Unfortunately in Karate there is still a lot to be done for inclusion and equality, hopefully with passionate martial artists like Abigail this will change in the future. If you would like to support Abigail project please visit her Facebook page and give her a like or book her for classes.

You can't teach them if they're not there with Mike Turbitt
This week my guest on Accidental Podcast is Mike Turbitt. Mike is the founder of Team Black Belt, an authority on teaching children and the author of the book, How to Build a Black Belt Business. I have followed Mike's work for a few years now and admire his passion for teaching children - his enthusiasm is highly infectious. His methodology for teaching children is first class. I have used some of his ideas in my club and they work for adults as well...

Kicking & Screaming with Melanie Gibson.
Melanie and I met online. We have a mutual friend, Matt Jardine, who suggested that we should talk together as we might have a few things in common. Matt was right - Melanie and I have quite few things in common, both of us do martial arts, write books and support mental health. It was a very interesting conversation and I hope you will enjoy it. Please find a few more words about Melanie from her author page below. If you would like to check Melanie's work please follow links below.
Melanie Gibson was an independent woman with a good job, multiple college degrees, and a condo in the trendy part of town. She also had a few mental illnesses, a minor substance abuse problem, and rotten relationship skills. She was a high-functioning crazy who needed a good kick in the pants, literally and metaphorically.

Armour
In my training Gi is a special place; it is my armour, something that helps to protect me. It has also helped me to let go of my emotional armour, and go out there and be who I am.

Competing With Christian O'Brian
Christian and I met online a few years back, on one of the practical Karate groups. I enjoyed reading his point of view on the art of empty hands, so I thought why not get him on a podcast. I'm glad I did, Christian is a nice person and fun to talk to, we covered tons of material from wrestling, overcoming obstacles, special needs programmes, competing and being different in the Karate world. I hope you will enjoy our conversation, if you do please share it via social media, that will help me a lot in terms of promoting my podcast.

Challenges with Danny Mason
In this episode I talk with my student Danny Mason. Danny has been training with me for quite some time and is over half way to black belt, and at first glance this seems ordinary. However, it is far from ordinary. Things that we take for granted can for Danny be a major challenge due to his autism. Danny describes the world through his lens and what Karate means for him, what benefits he has gotten from practicing and what he would like to achieve in the future. I hope that you will enjoy this episode, we had to record it outside so you have a nice background of birds, and there is also a guest appearance of Danny's 3 month old niece.
