We Got You Live EP3: How do I Access my Humber Accommodations Online?
If you are a student who identifies as having a disability, you may be curious about how to access your academic accommodations at Humber College. We got you!
At Humber, Accessible Learning Services (ALS) works with students and staff to ensure that learners have what they need to be successful by providing a range of supports, including; academic accommodations, assistive technology training and referral to on-campus and community services. Here’s how to get started:
Step 1: Schedule an Appointment with ALS
- Please contact us as soon as you have been accepted into a program at Humber or Guelph-Humber, or if you are already in a program and you are experiencing disability related barriers to learning.
- You may contact Accessible Learning Services (ALS) in person, by phone, or email to book an appointment to meet with a member of our team who will explain our services and the resources available.
Step 2: Attend Your Appointment with ALS
- We encourage you to bring your disability-related documentation to your first appointment. Documentation requirements vary depending on the nature of the disability. For specific information, please review the Disability Documentation Requirements.
- At this appointment you will discuss your accommodation needs and learn about resources available to support your learning. You may find it helpful to prepare in advance any questions you would like to ask. If you need to re-schedule, please contact us.
Also it is important to know that your Accommodation Letter is not automatically renewed each semester. For more information about renewing your accommodations, visit How to Renew Or View Your Accommodations Letter.

What is Welcome Month at Humber College?
After you have attended Orientation and your Meet Your Faculty sessions, it’s time to get to know the Humber community and participate in some fun events for you to feel welcome at Humber!
The Orientation Team is hosting Welcome Month from September 8-30th which will be taking place virtually through Microsoft Teams and Humber First Year Experience’s Instagram @humberfyenorth and @humberfyelake. These events are all about community building, learning about the on-campus equity-hubs, and providing you with the essential information you’re going to need to succeed.
You may even want to take it a step further and learn about the ways that you can get involved at Humber. Getting involved at Humber teaches valuable skills about leadership and introduces you to people who may become your long-lasting friends.

What does it mean to be an Ally? | The BASE
The Black Academic Success & Engagement (BASE) invites Humber, University of Guelph-Humber, and community members who identify as Black, African, Caribbean and African Canadian to engage in a dialogue that will unmask the trauma that historically has been and continues to be experienced by the Black community.
Do you know what it means to be an ally? We invite everyone to be a part of this conversation. We will establish key components of ally-ship and explore the ways in which Black and non-Black students and community members, can work together in addressing differences.

Fall 2020 Orientation
As you begin to start your first semester here are Humber College, your dedicated Humber Orientation Fall 2020 Team has exciting plans to make sure your virtual transition to Humber is jam-packed with tons of value, community building, and all of the essential information you’re going to need to succeed!
Fall Orientation will be fully online and consist of three parts.
#1: Orientation Website & Module
On Monday, August 24, you will have access to:
- A hub of resources on the Orientation [link: ] website that include pre-recorded video workshops, wayfinding information on how to navigate Humber’s website, links to The Opening Learning Centre resources and other key information.
- An Orientation Blackboard module (learn.humber.ca) will launch which will further strengthen your knowledge of supports/resources that are available to you to help you succeed in your new journey at Humber. Stay tuned on our website for links and further information about this new resource!
#2: Meet Your Faculty: Academic Orientation Virtual Sessions
Fall Orientation will also include Meet Your Faculty Academic Orientation sessions which will be held from Tuesday, September 1 to Thursday, September 3. You will be able to meet your teachers, classmates, and ask any questions to be ready for your first day at Humber. Be sure to register [link]!
#3: Virtual Welcome Month Events
The Orientation Team will welcome you even further to the Humber Community, from September 8-30th during Welcome Month!
