Listen as they discuss what it takes to be a team that gets stuff done, whether you are in Congress, a company, or a family.

136. Taking Care of Business
In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops, hosts Greer and Whitnie discuss ways to tackle the list of personal and household business you might need to complete before the year ends. If you’re like most people, deadlines are looming for exhausting healthcare, credit cards, or other financial benefits. It might not be too late to dive deeply into your accounts and services and claim rebates, points, and other valuable discounts, but the time may be very limited.
In addition to taking advantage of benefits you’ve earned or paid for, now is an excellent time to check what services you will need to make your life easier in the new year. Cancel programs you don’t use or that don’t bring value or combine those that may be more beneficial if they weren’t diluted by having split “loyalties.” Either way, pulling out a notepad or a calculator may help you see patterns in spending and usage that need correction.
Once you have shored up your business for the year and set a plan for 2023, consider ways to celebrate that victory. It may be to sit back and sing carols with your family, or perhaps you’d like to pay it forward by donating your time to those less fortunate than you or by just sharing a few of the dollars you saved with the people who’ve provided you service throughout the year (think barista, letter carrier, mechanic, housekeeper, or others in your community who could use a helping hand).

As we start to wrap up 2022 and close in on the end of three years of a pandemic, we recognize that many of us are still facing trauma and may feel rudderless. You are not alone. Nor do you have to be alone on your journey to greater fulfillment. We are here for you, and we’ll give you some ideas of where you might find others who are also trying new things.

132. Wrapping Up More Than Gifts
Now that Thanksgiving is over, we are officially in the holiday season and creeping up on the end of the year. What did you have planned that you haven't yet accomplished? There's time, or at least time to make progress.
In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops hosts Greer and Whitnie discuss the value of assessing the resolutions and goals set at the beginning of 2022 and making the final push to accomplish what you set out to achieve. As you start to wrap up the year, with about five weeks remaining, it's not too late to regroup and make things happen if you have fallen a little short, or make changes and carry your goals over into the new year…and you're already further ahead than you were at the start of the last year.
As you reflect on the past year and focus on gratitude and growth, you will find that reconnecting with your "why" will help you on your journey to your goals. And remembering to revisit them throughout the year, especially at the end of the year, is a great way to stay on track.

130. Midterms Bring Hope & Change?
In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops hosts Greer and Whitnie discuss the 2022 midterm elections and our thoughts on the country's direction. Looking back over the past couple of years, some of the rhetoric that has been a part of our political discourse and the need for all Americans to come together for the country's good give rise to our concerns for the future. Nevertheless, we remain optimistic about what tomorrow has in store.

129. Does It Matter -- Direction or Speed?
In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops hosts Greer and Whitnie discuss the idea of direction versus speed. Which is more important? Getting where you need to go or getting there quickly? We explore the benefits and pitfalls of focusing on achieving goals when the time is right, at the expense of perhaps not achieving those goals because you were focused on an arbitrary timeline.
We’ve learned there is no one right way of working towards a goal or specific objectives, and sometimes even going in the wrong direction can be beneficial if the alternative is stagnation or inertia. The key is always moving more in the right direction than in the wrong direction. Then be prepared to be flexible and willing to stop, reassess, make modifications and even do a 180° pivot when circumstances require.

128. 4 Types of Grief and Loss
In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops hosts Greer and Whitnie discuss four types of loss that are seldomly discussed. The loss of identity, safety, autonomy, and dreams are common experiences, but we don’t always see them as catalysts for grief. Recognizing and acknowledging the emotional toll these losses can take on you can be the first step in healing and overcoming the loss.
Greer and Whitnie share personal experiences that help describe steps they’ve gone through to get to the other side of grief, or at least shift perspectives while doing the hard work of healing.

127. Got Problems? No Problem
In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops, hosts Greer and Whitnie discuss the idea of not thinking about your problems as a way to solve your problems. When life serves us lemons, our default position is often to ruminate on the bad, often to the detriment of finding an apt solution. The habit of fixating on the negative can leave us overwhelmed, overstressed, and unable to get to the other side of the challenges. More often than not, the solution is right there if you could only see it.
Stopping thoughts about a problem can speed up the time it takes for it to go away, if not eliminate it altogether. When we give energy to a problem, we give it more life and resonance in our brains, which only makes the problem seem more significant—and more stressful.
Stop. Stop thinking about it. Clear your mind, observe your surroundings, be in the moment, and you may find the solution revealing itself as you zero in on the purity of “being in the moment.”
As Greer and Whitnie uncover steps to getting into that space, you may realize that problems in your own life are not as bad as they seemed once your perspective shifts. Listen, like, and share this and all episodes of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops with your friends and followers.
