On today’s episode of Rehab Links Secrets to Success, Lisa Chase interviews Dr Lisa Valastro. Dr. Valastro, is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Regenexx at New Regeneration Orthopedics in Tampa Bay, FL.

Dr. Valastro received her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. In medical school she focused her electives on orthopedic and sports medicine to gain a deeper understanding of the musculoskeletal system. Throughout her osteopathic training, Dr. Valastro developed an appreciation of the body’s innate ability to heal and regulate itself. These principles led her toward her ultimate career goal of providing care through regenerative medicine.

Dr. Valastro completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation training at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where she was elected chief resident and organized a peer-to-peer ultrasound study program to improve the hands-on ultrasound skills of AMC’s residents.

To further Dr. Valastro’s training in orthobiologics for the musculoskeletal system, she completed a fellowship with Dr. Marko Bodor in Napa, California. This fellowship focused on Spine, Sports, Electrodiagnostics, and Regenerative Medicine. She was involved in various research projects with Dr. Bodor and the Napa Medical Research Foundation. During this training, Dr. Valastro developed advanced skills in image guided injections, both with ultrasound and fluoroscopy.

Dr. Valastro grew up in upstate New York and loves spending time in the Adirondacks for hiking and snowshoeing. In her spare time, she also enjoys kayaking, weightlifting, and volleyball. Dr. Torrance is an athlete, a practicing sports clinician, and a teacher, residing in St. Petersburg, FL. Dr. Torrance received her B.A. in English Literature and Psychology from Western State University of Colorado and her B.S.in Human Anatomy and Doctorate in Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas, TX. Abby has experienced a rapidly progressing, and exciting career as a sports medicine clinician. In 2010, she was selected to be a part of a Sports Medicine team for the Colombian Olympic Committee in Bogota, Colombia where she worked with athletes ranging from gymnasts to marathoners to track & field athletes and tennis players. Dr. Torrance then served on the Sports Medicine team for the NASL National Champion soccer team, the San Antonio Scorpions FC, in 2014 & 2015. She was also selected to serve on the Airrosti Athlete Services team for multiple CrossFit Regionals events and the CrossFit Games from 2013 -2016. Abby served as an Airrosti Provider and member of the Airrosti Rehab Centers Clinical Development team from 2012-2017, training and onboarding hundreds of new Airrosti Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, and recovery specialists. Dr. Perone worked as the Director of Training & Clinical Projects and taught new Airrosti Providers how to evaluate musculoskeletal injury, identify the cause of movement dysfunction, and how to rapidly and effectively get patients out of pain. At Airrosti, Dr. Torrance underwent leadership training and then had the opportunity to lead and educate her peers through performing on-site clinical evaluations and through developing and implementing leadership opportunities for Airrosti providers.
