S4 | Ep. 2: Ally Vickers, Hair Dept. Head of The BEAR, on turning Abby Elliot from blonde to brunette...and yes, Carmy's incredible locks..
Hello Hello! No, you aren't imagining things- we are talking about The Bear again because this season absolutely deserves two episodes. Today's is with Hair Department Head, Ally Vickers and she talks about her much discussed brilliant work (coined "dirtbag chic" by many) with Jeremy Allen White, and turning Abby Elliot from blonde to brunette and back again within a week. She takes us behind the scenes with Will Poulter, Jamie Lee Curtis, and the entire cast of this beloved show. You'll hear from Ally about her Mood Videos that she creates for her characters, and if you are watching on YouTube (subscribe now BTW) you will see the one she created for Donna (played by Jamie Lee Curtis of course). Enjoy!
*Check out the show notes for how to support those out of work from the ongoing strike
as well as to see which products Ally uses for Jeremy's look.

S4 | Ep. 1: Headed Back To School at Abbott Elementary with Moira Frazier, Hair Deptment Head
WE ARE HEADED BACK TO SCHOOL. Yes indeed, with Emmy Nominee Moira Frazier, the Head of the Hair Department at ABBOT ELEMENTARY. Moira tells me about whipping up a wig at a moment's notice for Ayo Edibri, finding individualized hairstyles for all our favorites in the cast including Janelle James, Quinta Brunson, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Lisa Ann Walter as well as the many many many other cast members- kids, parents and more. Moira breaks down the nitty gritty of The Strike and how the trickle down affects the entire industry, and she tells me about her products which she uses on set and you can purchase for yourself. I had the greatest time talking to this amazing woman, and I hope you enjoy our conversation and learn a thing or two that you didn't know before about wigs, the strike, and... Toledo. (just listen!) S3 | BONUS EPISODE: The Bear Season 2 with Make-Up Dept. Head, Ignacia Soto-Aguilar
THE BEAR. It's your favorite show and these are your favorite characters. I am breaking my hiatus to bring you this episode because you know we all need it. Ignacia Soto-Aguilar will tell you in this episode about THE LASH (you know the one on Jamie Lee Curtis' face that broke the internet)! I love talking to Ignacia about her projects because while she is a makeup artist, what you may not know is that she thinks like a filmmaker. Listen as she tells me what it was like shooting Episode 6 - "Fishes", that incredible Christmas dinner scene where ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. And Will Poulter's tatts based on his personal story - he needed nurses everywhere and hot sauce bottles?! - as well as the Brownies that he made himself and brought to set in this very special bonus episode about this very special show.

S3 | Ep. 30: The Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Episode w/Department Heads Cassie Russek and Alexei Dmitriew AND the High Evolutionary Himself, Chukwudi Iwuji!

You are going to love this talk with the team behind Guardians of the Galaxy 3 as they tell me about their favorite days on set, their biggest challenges and how they worked together to break the record for the MOST prosthetics used in a feature film.

S3 | Ep. 29: Judy Chin & Jason Collins talk about their extraordinary work on the intense new series, Dead Ringers
This week features a conversation between Oscar Award Winner Judy
Chin and Emmy Award Winner Jason Collins of Autonomous FX, Inc.
Dead Ringers starring Rachel Weisz, now on Amazon Prime, is a limited series
based on the original film which starred Jeremy Irons. Judy is the
makeup department head and Jason heads up the SFX Team on the show.
These two are masters of their craft, that much is certain, but what I
really enjoyed talking with them about was the extraordinary way that
they approach the subject matter of the show through artistry. We also
discuss the observation that audiences are shocked by the "graphic
nature" of the scenes in the birthing center of this series, yet are
capable of consuming content that is violent and gory without commenting
on it. Hear how they worked together on this challenging project and
please let me know what you think of Dead Ringers!

**GUILTY PLEASURE ALERT! Only visit this episode if you are willing to admit to yourself that you devour episodes of Vanderpump Rules... It was the shot heard around the world- the announcement of the most talked about scandal in recent pop culture history. The betrayal of the beloved reality television star Ariana Madix by way of an affair between her long-time partner Tom Sandoval and her close friend Raquel Leviss. Known as #Scandoval this brought all eyes to Vanderpump Rules. As longtime fans who devour every episode, my friend and actress Katie Walder (you know Katie from shows like Gilmore Girls, Mad Men, and How I Met Your Mother) and I decided we need to do an episode with makeup artist Jared Lipscomb. Jared is a makeup artist who, among his many talents, works often with the cast of Vanderpump Rules and is a dear friend to Ariana. We talk about how tricky the balance can be between client and friend and what it was like being in the room as Ariana Madix prepared herself for the upcoming Vanderpump Reunion which will surely be the Reality TV Superbowl. Jared is also a cancer survivor. Katie and I speak to him about his health journey and he tells us about the amazing organization, Be The Match which can help you to save someone's life. ...And keep an eye out for Katie on Station 19 4/6 on ABC at 8pm BE THE MATCH https://bethematch.org/ Jared's IG https://www.instagram.com/jaredlips/ Katie's IG https://www.instagram.com/iamkatiewalder/ Time Codes – 4:37 Reality TV make-up 5:35 Jared’s origin story 8:42 How he got the call for VP! 10:03 The Reunion Show 10:34 “I’m in” 12:03 No HMU on girl’s trips to Mexico?! 13:10 Ariana! 14:00 “We never know the lighting” 15:00 Private make-up artists vs. BRAVO artists 15:40 BRAVO don’t pay! 15:59 Reunion ‘looks’ 17:30 True contour vs. bronzer 18:29 Red carpet vibes find their way into Reunion Shows 19:20 The Fans 20:30“Where were you when you found out about #scandavol?” 21:30 My battle with leukemia 26:00 Neutral? S3 | Ep. 22: Costume Designer Avery Plewes Takes Over Ghostface and the Beloved Franchise in Scream VI. She Talks Cloaks, Glitter, and that Crazy Subway Scene.
I had a great time talking to Avery Plewes about the huge responsibility she carried by costume designing Scream VI. Entering this beloved franchise and grabbing Ghostface by the... well... face, she conquered a huge job of ensuring the fans felt appreciated and the beloved installments were respectfully honored. Listen to how she assembled the museum with her team, and helped to make Gale Weathers look the best she's ever looked (IMHO).

I'm thrilled to present this week's episode with Oscar Nominee, Camille Friend. With over 2 decades in the film business, she is a legendary hair department head of epic films including many MARVEL favorites- and of course Black Panther and Wakanda Forever. I loved this episode because I caught Camille directly after she received some news that at one time would've sent her spiraling, but instead she offers strength and advice for artists who have to handle the roller coaster ride better known as their career. Listen as she shares how she created her Oscar-Nominated looks in Wakanda Forever.

S3 | Ep. 18: Oscar and BAFTA nominee, Heike Merker, talks about her work as makeup and hair department head on the film ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT.
This week's Episode is a conversation I had with Oscar and BAFTA nominee, Heike Merker about her work as makeup and hair department head on the Netflix film ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT which is getting a tremendous amount of attention this awards season. Finding herself quite literally on the Front Lines of this project, we talk about her challenges, the physical demands and how she discovered the ability to paint artistically using mud, dirt, pigments and even macha (!) to create stunning, painterly looks that convey the duality of war and the inner life of the film's protagonist. This was a tremendously hard film to make. Listen to Heike talk (hilariously) about getting so stuck in the mud that she literally couldn't move one inch. And how she found inspiration on set and in the moment for the film's signature macha mask look. Tune in!

Ep 20 | S2: Cowboy Bebop Costume Designer Jane Holland Talks About What Happens When Your Show Gets Cancelled Abruptly?
A delightful conversation with New Zealand's own costume designer, Jane Holland, where she opens up about the intense craftsmanship that went into Spike Spiegel's (actor John Cho's) iconic blue suit in Cowboy Bebop - the tailoring, influences from the graphic novel, the gorgeous lining only actor John Cho knew about, and a secret 'easter egg' of sorts: handmade buttons with a water symbol - all part of a legacy costume (one the character wears the whole project!). Also, the hundreds of versions that were made of the blue suit for all the action sequences. Jane discusses the heartbreak of the shows sudden cancellation by Netflix after creating an entire studio workshop for the characters' intricate wardrobe. Jane discusses throwing herself into projects and how if you don't go all in, you aren't taking a risk, so NO REGRETS. From her beginnings working on Jane Campion's Oscar-winning The Piano to Xena: Warrior Princess, Jane sings the praises of New Zealand's tightly knit and vital film community as well as her recent colabs with her son!
