#111, Make a Plan for “I don’t Want to”
I have been there, too. Lunch comes around and I stare at the wonderfully packed over-night oats I brought to work. I distinct voice in my head says: “I don’t want to.” and I’m overwhelmed with longing for a candy bar or something loaded with salt and grease that would make my heart happy (just not very healthy). I tend to panic, needing my brain to be on board with my choices or else french fries and chocolate bars will soon be shoved in my mouth.

#110, My Favorite Hacks for Accepting Food Gifts and Enjoying Them Without Paying the Price on My Waistline
The holidays aren’t just loaded with activities and social gatherings that come with all our favorite foods, we are also usually given food items as gifts. In fact, I remember growing up here in rural New Mexico, we had tons of neighbors and friends giving us food. We received anything from tamales to wrapped sweet breads to tins of chocolates. There were definitely items that we looked forward to each year and there was no way I was going to turn down that experience. I still look forward to those gifts. I love enjoying them, giving honest compliments, and giving my own offerings of sweet treats.
The question becomes, how do we accept food gifts, enjoy them, and still stay healthy throughout the holidays. I’ve got some great hacks for you today.

#90, What Do You Do When You Reach Your Goal Weight?
In this episode you are going to get an up-close and personal look at my weight loss journey ad how I’ve reached a point of weight maintenance. I think that over the twenty-ish year that I dieted I probably reached my happy goal weight at least a dozen times. It was like an end zone or finish line. I’d see the number on the scale, wink at myself in the mirror, and lay down all the good habits and processes that carried me to my goal. This had to stop. When I reached my goal weight back in 2020 I learned some fascinating things about what it meant to stay at that happy weight as part of a life-long process.

It’s 7:00 pm and the time is ticking down until I can put the girls in bed. I’m exhausted and there is still so much to do. I’ve had a truly long day and everything in me needs a break-body, mind, heart, and soul. However, I can’t stop. Micaela needs her meds and her cares done. Adela has a thousand things to share. The sink is heaped with dishes and the buzzer just went off alerting me that I need to switch laundry loads and pair up socks. During one of my group coaching sessions, a client admitted to me that she over-ate out of anger. I remember being a little surprised. Angry eating? That was a new one. We talked it over, diving a little into what was going on for her and what she could change, and then I kinda forgot about it. Little did I know that several months later I would be in tears, realizing that I was in a cycle of eating out of deep emotional anger. Do you angry eat or do other kinds of emotional eating?
