In today's episode, we’re going to meet Emma Carter. Emma is an exceptional design leader with over two decades of experience in the industry. As an accomplished speaker, mentor, and author, she has penned the best-selling book Beyond The Logo and has an upcoming release, DesignedUp.

Emma's journey began with running a successful design agency in the UK, where her entrepreneurial spirit led her to be shortlisted for Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011. Eventually, she was drawn to the sun and sea of Brisbane, where she joined ThoughtWorks and rose through the ranks to become a Principal Experience Design Consultant.

As a passionate design advocate, Emma works tirelessly to help organisations enhance their design maturity and create a “ Total Brand Experience”.  Through her branding, visual, and experience design skills, she integrates a human-centric approach to problem-solving with cross-functional agile teams.

With her background in Fine Arts, she started working in a start-up as a Junior Designer, then moved on to work at NOS as a UX/UI Designer, and moved back to the start-up world by joining Unbabel almost 2 years ago as a Product Designer.

Lana is a product designer working in Lisbon, Portugal. She has 6+ years of experience in the field, having worked in B2B and B2B2C SaaS industries like Translation tech, EdTech and Fintech. Currently: Building the world's translation layer at Unbabel.

Christine Sheller is a highly accomplished leader in the design and user experience field, with a wealth of experience in building and managing teams. As the Senior Vice President of Experience Research and Design at O3, a leading consultancy specializing in CX, she is responsible for overseeing all aspects of UX research and design to ensure that clients receive exceptional customer experiences. She’s also an Adjunct Professor at ArtCenter College of Design.

Christine's expertise in design and UX has been honed over the years, as she has held leadership positions at prestigious organizations, where she has created award-winning teams that have achieved outstanding results.

In addition to her professional work, Christine is also an active participant in the design community. She has served on the board of AIGA Philadelphia and has been instrumental in launching the in-house initiative and a design scholarship fund for the chapter, which has helped to foster new talent in the design industry.

Equally, She loves the individual contributor work, working across the full UX lifecycle from brief, requirements understanding, research and discovery, ideation, design, prototyping, testing, and analysis. Keeping the users at the heart of her design decisions, both user insights and best practice guidelines and principles are used to inform each step of a project.

Sophie currently leads a team of 4 UX Designers at Dext, a SaaS accounting and bookkeeping software that has multiple products to help accountants and bookkeepers be more efficient in their workflows and practices. The UX Design team is part of a larger team of 12 including Research, UI, and Content. Her role at Dext is two-fold; She is accountable for the overall user experience across our suite of products and collaborates with senior stakeholders to support the product direction and strategy. She is also the UX Lead on our core product, leading complex projects from discovery through to going live involving large groups of cross-functional stakeholders, and managing conflict in the team.

She's a user-focused designer and has a deep knowledge in psychology, behavior, and user needs. She pays attention to every detail of the user experience, including layout, typography, color, and icons, to deliver solutions that are easy and intuitive to use. She's also a great collaborator and effective communicator, able to work with teams of developers, researchers, and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes. She's always learning and improving her skills to stay at the forefront of new technologies, tools, and design trends. She's organized, with project management skills that allows her to efficiently handle multiple projects and priorities, and is also proficient in design software and technologies, delivering high-quality design prototypes and final products.

Some fun facts about her: She has a bachelor's degree in International Affairs and won an Outstanding Delegate Award for the 2011 Model Arab League conference in D.C. from the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations. 

She has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which she's trained for 4 years, 

she is the Lead Character Artist on the award-winning series Kamikaze, previously featured on NPR, attends conventions to promote the series; 

also a mega geek, and currently serves as a Second Director of the Moderation department at Momocon, 

She is Public speaker who loves talking about UX, technology, career development, self-improvement, and inclusion, 

and she ran a highly popular Sonic the Hedgehog fansite that garnered thousands of visitors a week when I was a kid.

In today's episode we’re going to meet Lara Greenberg, she is currently the Director of UX at Notarize (a Series D company in the legal tech space). She built and now manages an incredible team of product designers, UX researchers, and UX engineers. Aside from growing the team and maintaining a thriving design culture, her work (along with others on her team) includes shaping Notarize's first-ever design system and creating an internal accessibility program. Prior to Notarize, she was a design manager at ezCater (an online marketplace in the food tech space and a "unicorn" Series D company), where she got her start as a design leader. She believes that creating an environment of psychological safety, trust, and warmth is crucial in empowering designers do their best work and in maintaining engaged UX teams.

Before her foray into UX around ten years ago, Lara studied linguistics in college and then obtained a graduate degree in speech-language pathology. She worked as a pediatric speech-language pathologist for several years with a simple mission: to help people find their voices. Lara worked with people with various communicative disorders, including traumatic brain injury, autism, dyslexia, cerebral palsy, etc., and helped them improve their speaking, understanding, reading, and writing. Working with children who use assistive devices to communicate led her to the field of UX, and she strongly believes in the power of technology to enable better communication and connection for people.

Lara co-organizes the Boston chapter of Ladies that UX @ladiesthatuxbos , with her two amazing co-organizers and friends, Olga Perfilieva and Katie Langerman. The group cares deeply about creating inclusive and insightful events for people to learn together, and to celebrate the women and non-binary folks in our field.

When she's not working or planning for LTUX, you can find Lara hiking, trying her hand at close-up magic, watching Star Trek, tending to her (too many) plants, planning her next meal, and practicing her (very) amateur food photography skills. Definitely an amazing lady. Let's meet her?

She is currently working at Microsoft as a Senior Design Manager for the Azure Security Design Studio.

Moreover, In her spare time, she leads the Ladies that UX North America region and the Seattle meetup group. Managing Chapter Leaders and partnering with organizations like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Zillow, BestBuy, and Airbnb to put on events for the UX community. She loves coffee, bookart, and watercolor painting.
