Alternative Rock band Hands of Spite bring life to insightful new EP By Jenna Gengler Boston based Alternative Rock band Hands of Spite released their debut album on January 24, 2023. The band features frontmen Austin Bullock and Sam Gelston, both on guitar and vocals, and is backed by rhythm powerhouses Zac Stein and Nate Belton on drums/vocals and bass respectively. Their new project, titled Inchoate, dives into the idea of not being fully formed, continuing to grow and develop into something bigger and better than you once were. Matching the EP’s concept, the title “Inchoate” is described as “just begun and so not fully formed or developed”. It seems to be the perfect descriptor for new and upcoming band. The project was pioneered during the Covid-19 Quarantine and provided a way for the group to really get into a flow of their own. “Because of the situation, we were able to write and practice the pieces as much as possible,” Sam explained. “I think it allowed us to release something with a really accurate representation of our actual performances.” The feature track on this EP is “What Do You Say”, a song co-written by frontmen Austin and Sam. It dives into the question of who you are as a person and what you have done in your life. Not only does the song showcase the ability of both writers, but presents the band in an incredible and honest light. It is an articulate show of the band's diversity and musicality. The album, Inchoate, as a whole leads you through the stages of grief. As you listen to the song you are pulled through a series of definitive emotions, all redefined to be more accessible and easier to both understand and listen to. It is an amazing introduction to Hands of Spite as a band and a thoughtful lead up to their next project and first full length album. The album is set to release later in 2023. “We are so grateful to be here,” said the band. “We feel really lucky to be here, making music together and building ourselves from the ground up.” Though Hands of Spite already has a strong base and compelling music, they are continuing to grow and develop as a band as well as individuals, as their latest project so aptly describes. Keep an eye out for Hands of Spite in the coming year as they continue to release new music and plan for an upcoming tour. They are truly looking forward to growing with their fanbase and building up a community with the music that they create. Former Fort Worth teacher releases genre-bending EP as OG ACID FUNK By Brennan Stebbins Terence T. Brown has been involved in the Fort Worth, Texas music scene for more than two decades. Until recently, however, his day job was teaching audiovisual and multimedia production at a high school. But the global pandemic gave Brown some time to think – and shined a spotlight on all the things in life he was just settling for. So he called it quits last year, rented an office and devoted his life to his true passions: making music and movies. He recorded a horror-themed album during COVID lockdown called Slasher Flick and released it last year under the stage name PRIEST. Now the genre-bending Brown has followed that project up with the five-song EP (aka) OG ACID FUNK – which is also his new name. “There were too many other artists using the name PRIEST and I wanted out of it,” he says. “A buddy of mine listened to my music and said man, it sounds like acid jazz, you should call it acid funk. I’m 51 and I’ve got some younger friends who always refer to me as OG. It’s definitely original.” OG ACID FUNK’s sound changes from song to song, not just project to project. He’s been influenced by artists like George Clinton, Rob Zombie, Fantastic Negrito, Godsleep and Fishbone and used to run an underground label that focused on hip hop. “I used to have a band back in the day and they didn’t know where to put us on the shelves,” he says. “We called it funk soul. That’s a little bit of rock, funk, R&B. I’m still the same way, everything that I hear and like I mash it all together.” He loves Rob Zombie because he’s a “straight up rocker” who makes some “dope ass horror films” – Brown’s other love. He calls himself a child of funk, the first genre that got him into music. “A lot of friends say it sounds like Prince,” he says. “What they don’t understand is there’s a whole genre of music Prince is representing. Parliament Funkadelic, all these old school funk players and that’s where that Prince sound I kind of rest on top of comes from. I do dig deep into my funk roots and I also love rapping so there’s some of that in there. I grew up in the hip hop culture.” OG ACID FUNK sums it up in the third track from the EP, “Who Am I,” where he sings: “My flow is so Vincent Price/I’m the lyrical Steven King/I keep George Clinton in a hot sauce bottle/I swear, put that there on everything.” He’s getting ready to produce a music video for “Faces,” the EP’s opening track which still leaves Brown breathless when he listens to it. He follows that up with the bass-heavy “The Harlot” and then “Who Am I,” which tells you everything you need to know without boring you. “I’m really talking about who I am,” he says. “I’m all about Fort Worth and bettering this place, just making it a better place for everybody,” he says. “I really just want to be free to do me and in the process of doing me, bless everybody I come in contact with.” Make sure to stay connected to OG ACID FUNK on all platforms for new music, videos and social posts. Devon Paige’s ‘Love and Dreams’ is perfect for driving with the windows down
By Brennan Stebbins
Devon Paige discovered a love of performing as a child actress doing professional music theater, but later took a break while she tried her hand as a millennial in corporate America.
Then she received a stark reminder about her true passion when her father passed away in 2019.
“He just didn’t enjoy a lot of life,” she says. “He was so focused on his career and his family and making sure they were well taken care of that he didn’t really get to do a lot of things he wanted to and by the time he had things he wanted to do he was much older. It was a reminder that I have dreams and I have passions and you can’t wait that long to do them because life is short.”
Devon got back into music and started writing a single, and then suffered another loss when her grandmother passed away. At that point she knew she needed to make her music dream come true.
“I know how proud they would both be,” she says. “I just need to make it happen.”
Devon officially kicked off her return to music with her 2021 single “Resentful,” a slower song about toxic love, but really wanted to do something more upbeat and more in the pop genre, inspired by artists like Katie Perry and Sia. The result is her newest release, “Love and Dreams.”
Her upcoming single, “Love and Dreams,” was written by the incredible Esjay Jones and produced by the one and only, Trey Vittetoe. They helped bring her vision to life for this upcoming hit.
“It’s a good, happy love song,” she says. “It’s like when you fall in love with someone and you’re in that honeymoon stage. I just thought that was perfect because everybody can relate; everybody’s been in love. There are so many songs on the radio now that are about heartbreak and breakups and although I still love those songs, I wanted to write something that embodies their feelings for their loved ones .”
“It’s catchy,” she says. “As soon as you hear the top line it just sticks in your head.”
Even as an adult, Devon still loves being on stage and she plans to do some live shows in the near future. She resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Chicago R&B stars Meagan McNeal, Carla Prather and Janeff The Poet drop inspirational anthem “I Can Only Be Me” on Soulistic 360 Label
By Rob Salerno
Rising R&B stars Meagan McNeal, Carla Prather, and Janeff The Poet want to deliver a clear message to their fans on their new collaboration, the inspirational R&B anthem, “I Can Only Be Me.”
“I want people who listen to this song to feel that they are ok. Regardless of what others may say or expect of them, they’re ok,” says Janeff The Poet, who wrote the lyrics to “I Can Only Be Me.”
“If you really wanna be free, you gotta be honest, realistic, and holistic and anything else is just sort of playing the game,” Janeff says.
The heartfelt single is a mix of classic soul and R&B, with soaring verses carried by McNeal and Prather that reach deep into listeners and compel them to keep listening.
The collaboration grew out of conversations that Janeff was having with Meagan McNeal, a powerhouse singer-songwriter who was featured on the singing competition show The Voice and has performed backup vocals for Eminem and Common.
“She was just telling me a little bit about her life and how because she’s such an artistic person, and how she’s always felt like an outsider and she never really fit in,” Janeff says. “Growing up, she was very artistic and maybe didn’t do everything the way society thought a young Black girl growing up in the south suburbs of Chicago was meant to do.”
The burden of those expectations and prejudices had weighed on Janeff too during his life.
“I also have experienced times in my life where I was expected to do certain things, whether based on my education, where I lived or was born, or who my parents were or whatever the case may be,” he says. “I often felt like I didn’t always fit in.“
Janeff says the song had been in the works since before the COVID pandemic. While the lockdowns slowed production, they actually gave him the opportunity to deepen the song by collaborating with other artists.
“We laid Meagan’s vocals and then the pandemic happened,” Janeff says. “I was talking with other artists I worked with during that time and in those conversations, I realized this is a universal story.”
Janeff brought on Carla Prather, a killer vocalist who’s performed across America with alternative soul band Poi Dog Pondering, to record additional verses that add a second perspective to the track.
“Carla gives the song a yin and yang. Megan is the melodic tone, and Carla pumps in with a soulful hurricane type of approach, and so even in this song they are demonstrating their individuality,” Janeff says. “Even though they’re singing the song a little bit differently, they’re still being themselves and that’s ok.”
“I Can Only Be Me” is already finding a loyal audience on streaming services, and the artists hope to see it gain wider exposure on radio and the internet.
“I’d like to see people will use it as a rallying cry, that it is ok to be yourself. That would be my hope,” Janeff says.

Award-Winning Rock Duo Follow No One Breaks Industry Norms with “Fate,” a Cinematic Rock Album
DENVER - Industry insiders describe it as a cross between Queensryche and Styx with a hard rock core; Follow No One brings back the classic and hard rock sounds that defined an era while adding their unique twist on the genre.
Named as Best Rock Act in 2019 at the Nashville-based JMA Awards, the next step for Follow No One is the Grammys. After listening to their industry-rocking latest project, it is clear the duo needs to make room on the award’s mantle for more hardware.
Follow No One is comprised of two industry leaders, Pedro Murino Almeida and Rich Hall. A Portuguese native, Almeida is a classically trained composer and guitar virtuoso who works in film and video and found success in his musical acts. Lead singer Hall is an American-born singer/songwriter who made his mark in the theater at a young age and discovered his powerfully melodic vocals match perfectly with rock.
Together, Follow No One is changing today’s rock industry with their sound void of 90s grunge and screaming vocals. Instead, they incorporate the most significant elements of rock’s past and present into an exciting brand of rock music that spans generations.
Follow No One is paving their own lane as their name states, evident in their upcoming album, “Fate.” Written, performed, and produced by the duo, “Fate” is a heavy rock album that transitions into melodic rock and concludes with an epic finale.
While many artists release albums, “Fate” is a 17-track industry game-changer.
As a cinematic hard rock concept album, “Fate” takes listeners on the true-life story of Hall. As a husband, father, Army war veteran, and corporate executive, he went from a man who appeared to have it all. Suddenly, he lost it all. From Hall’s deathbed to reclaiming his life, “Fate” chronicles his journey.
While “Fate,” the album is scheduled to drop on all streaming platforms on May 13. Each track is stylistically and tempo-driven, employing different techniques to give the album its unique feel. The plot flows as the music adds drama and emphasis to each lyric from track to track. Ensuring that listeners comprehend the story, Follow No One adds audio scenes and flashbacks to envelop listeners into the storyline.
Currently, Follow No One is giving fans a little taste of “Fate” in its preview video streaming on YouTube. Like a movie trailer, the video is a must-see, in-your-face teaser.
Dropping on April 8, the self-titled single “Fate” is a rhetorical song that prompts fans to reflect on their lives. Relating to listeners like only he can, Hall poses the question: Was it fate all along or something we created? We didn’t end up together, but was it because it was fate, or did we just screw things up.”
Hall adds that fans can join their mailing list for the inside scoop on happenings and music releases with more surprises on the way before the album releases. A quick visit to the group’s website provides insider information and the signup details.
Follow No One is not a rock throwback group. They incorporate the greatest elements of rock n roll’s past and present into an authentic new brand of rock that blends jaw-dropping guitar work and distinct vocal stylings.

Teri Sillo releases heartfelt new track ‘No Need To Hide’
By Jenna Gengler
TEES VALLEY, ENGLAND – Teri Sillo is an up and coming singer-songwriter, pianist and guitarist who is sharing her experiences and emotions through her incredible musical abilities. Most recently she has released a track that expresses the unequivocal love she has held for her baby since first glance. “No Need To Hide” is a gorgeous track and an incredible presentation of who Sillo is as an artist.
Sillo’s career officially began in 2019 with the release of her first EP, Plus or Minus You. This project provided her with a place to explore her sound and find a voice in the world of Afro Fusion, Soul and Pop. While COVID-19 and the birth of her first child paused much of the releasing of her music, she is back again with another track, entirely composed and written on her own. This track, like all of her others, is gorgeous in a way that blends Concert Hall and Pop music, elegant and light.
The release of “No Need To Hide”, Sillo is digging into her sound and the feelings that helped to create this track. “This song came to me when I was pregnant with my first child,” she explained. “I had gotten a 4D scan of her in the womb and there was a moment when she was hiding and I thought, ‘Oh, so sweet’”. From there, Sillo took off with what has since become a song full of love and joy.
While the track relates deeply to something personal to Sillo herself, she works to create music that everyone can relate to and find solace in. “No Need To Hide” is just one example of the way her experiences can transfer to so many walks of life. “It’s calling out to the listener,” Sillo said. “When you love someone, when you care about them, you don’t need to hide it, you just need to show them.”
In all, Sillo makes music that people can connect to. Her experiences are honest and raw in a way that invites others to listen. “I make music about love and life,” she said. Sillo’s goals as a musician are to continue to expand her ring of listeners and friends as she pursues her goals as a musician and shares the things that are important to her.
Following the release of “No Need To Hide,” Sillo is already prepared with a collection of new singles and projects that she is excited to share. She has been hard at work over the course of the pandemic and has so much to show for it. Be sure to be on the lookout for her next single and so much more.
If you haven’t had the chance to listen to Teri Sillo or her single “No Need To Hide,” now is the time to do it. The song is available on all major streaming platforms.
