Scotch & "good" Conversation- Peter von Taborsky started a podcast as an excuse to catch up with old friends- that led to free scotch, sponsors and asking many smart people stupid questions since 2015

I got to spend a long lunch break with Peter von Taborsky, creator, and host of Scotch & "good" Conversation podcast - a podcast about having a couple of drinks & getting to know people by asking smart people stupid questions. Peter started this project as an excuse to catch up with old friends, meet some new ones, and hopefully score some free bottles of Scotch in the process. His podcast has allowed him to speak with actors, directors, authors, his favorite musicians, to his fav teacher, his mom, friends, and ex-girlfriends. I chatted with Peter about how he started and how he grew his podcast. How he used his small business as a sponsor and got more than just free bottles of scotch but some corporate sponsors at the same time. We spoke about how he comes up with his questions and the format of the show to how he gets his guests to ask him anything. We spoke about the work it takes to build an audience and be so consistent all these years. We chatted about guests sharing more once the mics turn off and the importance of sharing and supporting small businesses. We also spoke about him taking a break after 350+ straight episodes and him starting back up again after a few months off. I got to spend my lunch break with Katie Fox, the owner, designer and creator of Dead Disco.  Dead Disco was created because Katie has many polar opposite interests; she wanted to smash them together into minimalistic, restrictive color palette designs while trying to make as many puns as possible.  Dead Disco is focused on designing and producing accessories and other goods for weirdos who can relate to the cross-section of the laid back beach vibes and party hard rock'n'roll lifestyle, with a dash of that 80s and 90s pop culture thrown in.  Katie and I discussed why she started the brand, the good bad and unfun part of running a business.  We talked about her creative process and how she is finding ways to grow and build her brand.   Lunch with Biggie is an Orlando podcast about small business and creatives sharing their stories and inspiring you to pursue your passion, with some sandwich talk on the side. Gideon's Bakehouse: A personal quest for the perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie that has lead from pop up success to opening up a sweet new location at Disney Springs & staying true to his original process

I got to spend my lunch break with Steve Lewis of Gideon's Bakehouse, A small local bakery creating big things. On a quest for the perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie for himself, 15 years and thousands of tests later, his work was complete. Their cookie isn't just a product. It is a history, the sweet and the salty, the thrill of a first kiss, and the solitude of a heartbreak. In October 2016, Gideon’s opened up its first physical shop at the beautiful East End Market, Central Florida’s original food hall, with one employee and an $800 budget. Within weeks of opening, their little 286 square foot bakery was being called Best Cookies in Orlando, Florida, the United States, and the Planet Earth from publications ranging from New York Times to The Boston Globe, Sports Illustrated, Delish.com and countless more. Their growth and popularity has lead to their new flagship store opening June 2020 in Disney Springs. I spoke to Steve about how he came up with his cookie 20+ hr cookie recipe and how his cookies became close to 1/2 lb in weight.  When he knew this was what he wanted to do.  How even with all his growth he has remained consistent & staying true to the original process, cutting no corners, and still putting every handmade detail into the 20 hours required to prepare a single almost half pound Cookie or a tall slice of Cake. I  asked Steve what advise he would offer someone starting and already in business.  As well as, what his new location at Disney Springs has allowed him to expand his brand and Gideon's Universe. Klondike Electric Bicycles: Starting a business in Alaska based on tourism and then pivoting to a new business due to the pandemic.

I got to spend my lunch break with Nicole Goodman, owner of Klondike Electric Bikes and Klondike Gift Supply in Skagway, Alaska.  I had the chance to speak with Nicole how she went from owning a Breakfast Food Truck in Orlando to moving to Skagway, Alaska and opening an electric bike rental shop right before the pandemic and how she and her husband pivoted and opened Klondike Gift Supply, as well as, Northwind Social Media, to help the Alaskan community around her, since 1.2 million tourists stop visiting the state.  It's great conversation about seeing a need and using your skills to create and start something.   Lunch with Biggie is an Orlando podcast about small business and creatives sharing their stories and inspiring you to pursue your passion, with some sandwich talk on the side.
