Make Marketing Matter
Marketing sales is the job of selling marketing products and services. At M. Roberts Digital we have several AMAZING salesmen and saleswomen, all extremely talented at what they do.
This week on the podcast, we’re joined by multi-marketing consultant, Crystal Lindsey, MBA to talk about the process of Marketing Sales.

Keystrokes for All Folks
A lot of people see blogging as something that world travelers or stay at home moms do, but it’s so much more than that. Any and every business should be blogging.
Blogging about various topics related to a business is helpful for “Search Engine Optimization (SEO).” It’s a way for businesses to show up for different topics in the search results and position themselves as “experts in the field.”

Community Connections
As a marketing agency, M. Roberts Digital is often the way that many businesses interface with the public. Two of the many ways that we do this is by Press Release Writing and Contests.
Jordan Sherrod is joined again this week by Caroline Herman, our in-house press release writer, AND THE Ray Thompson, who manages our contests.

"I’m on top of the web!"
Search Engine Marketing (SEM) - also known as Pay Per Click (PPC) or Google Adwords - is the digital marketing tactic of targeting individuals based on their search query and serving them ads in the immediate search results related to the keywords they searched for.
SEM ads are sometimes called “Google Adwords campaigns” because that’s the name Google - the megagiant owner of the biggest SEM software - has given SEM. It’s also commonly referred to as Pay Per Click (PPC) ads, because that’s how most SEM ads work. You only pay when someone actually clicks on your ad, not when someone sees your ad.
SEM ads are what most marketers consider the foundation of targeted advertising. It’s important to have SEM ads running as the first thing you do when starting to advertise digitally. But it’s also important to expand beyond there!

How do they do that?
Last week we looked at the amazing world of targeted digital advertising but didn’t really get into the specifics of targeting tactics. This episode multi-media consultant Shawna Yockey and Jordan Sherrod are going to dig into each of these powerful tactics and help explain how you can reach the people who are actively searching for your product or service.
There are 8 primary targeting tactics that marketers use to target the exact people who are interested in their product or service and we'll talk about those tactics in this podcast.

M. Press and Engage
The way that websites, apps, games, events, and other digital platforms continue to exist is by allowing outside companies and businesses to advertise on their digital platforms.
Thanks to advanced technology and software development, we are now able to target the PEOPLE who visit these digital platforms, and not just the type of platform. Learn about targeted digital marketing in this episode.

Your Digital Face
The term “web development” sounds uber scary, technical, and geeky. But a website is uber-ultra important because it represents your presence online. It’s equivalent to a brick and mortar building in real life; think of it like your digital storefront. A website has always been a way of legitimizing you as a business. It is your digital “face” to the world. It also extends your reach from beyond your physical location to anywhere in the world.
So then what does that mean? Well, like an actual physical store, people visit your website to browse through your services and products, make purchases, or request information.

Into the Inbox
Email is a part of everyday life for billions of people in personal and business interactions throughout the world.
It’s a fantastic way to get a message directly into people’s personal cell phones or computers. When used appropriately, it can be pretty powerful.

Pix and Clips
In any position related to marketing, communications, or PR, it’s important to develop a habit and cultivate a skill of capturing photos and videos.
In any kind of marketing, you are pushing out a form of communication that usually utilizes a photo or video. You can just think of content creation as creating the message and visuals that you’re going to push out through your marketing channels.

Hello, my name is ___
In this episode, we are going to talk about branding. Branding is your equivalent to the name tag you wear when you meet someone. It tells them who you are.
When most people think of a logo, they think of the extravagant, beautiful designs of major brands. And while making your logo visually appealing is important, it is not always the most important element in the design.
Your message is as equally, if not more, important. What are you actually communicating when someone looks at your logo? What are you communicating before you add text? What are you communicating when you add text (if any)?

Meeting Needs on Client Feeds
SOOOOCIAL Media. What a topic.
Did you know there are now over 4.62 billion social media users in the world? There are 17 major social media sites that are out there and, even if you’re not on all of them, it’s important to be familiar with what audience is on which platform. For example, even if you think Facebook is for “old people'' and you personally don’t have anything to do with it, it’s still important to understand how it works because that may be the perfect audience for your client to reach….and as a matter of fact in 2022 FB is still the world's most used social platform at 2,900 million active users.
Social media is heavily used in marketing. As stated before, marketing is largely about telling a story and the social media platforms are an easy way to tell a business’ story.

Bake Your Marketing Cake
The term “marketing” is a broader term than you may realize.
When someone asks, “What do you do?” and you say, “I’m in marketing.” That can mean a whole lot of different things. It could mean you are a salesperson, a website developer, a graphic designer, a strategy manager, a consultant, a social media manager, a billboard/radio sales rep, etc. It could mean you work in the marketing department of your company or that you work for an agency that does marketing on behalf of other companies.
It’s important to grasp the entire picture of what marketing is and what it can do to determine the best marketing strategy for your specific campaign.

Principles of Marketing
Marketing is about story-telling.
Our goal as marketers is to make our client’s audience the hero of the story. We want to ask our clients, “How does the product or service you offer help your customer “slay” the dragon and become the hero?”
Marketing is not just about running ads or being seen everywhere, it’s also about developing relationships and making connections. There’s a real sense of meaning in this line of work. We get to help our clients’ businesses succeed, and when we do that, we’re boosting our local economy.
