On this episode, my special guest, Romeo, and I discuss the bizarre case of Sharon Lopatka.  WARNING: this case is very sexually explicit. 

Fair warning, this episode contains content about the death of three small children.  Amanda Hamm was dating Maurice Lagrone when on Sept. 2, 2003, they took Amanda's three young children, Christopher, 6, Austin, 3, and Kyleigh, 23 months, to a lake in Clinton, Illinois.  The family's vehicle slid into the lake on the boat ramp and while Amanda and Maurice escaped, they left the three young children in the vehicle.  All three kids succumbed to drowning.  We discuss the details of this case as well as Amanda's attempt at rebuilding her life as a mother, having 3 more kids later in life, only to have them taken away due to the Anticipatory Neglect statute.  Do you think it's fair that the courts stepped in to protect her 3 living children from potential abuse even though they had not yet been abused?  Or did Amanda deserve a second chance? 

Debbie Collier is a 59 year old woman from Athens, GA who was recently found deceased in a wooded area beside an interstate shortly after sending a cryptic Venmo to her daughter with the memo, "They are not going to let me go love you there is a key to the house in the blue flower pot by the door."  Her body was found the next day with burns to her abdomen and she was clutching a small tree.  The investigation is ongoing but here is what we know so far as recent as the press conference on Sept. 30th.

Eliza Fletcher is a 34 year old mom of 2 who was abducted while she was running in the early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 2, 2022.  Video surveillance showed her being approached by a dark GMC Terrain and being forced into the vehicle after a brief altercation.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.  

Kegan Anthony Kline was charged with 30 counts on Aug. 29, 2020, including child exploitation, possession of child pornography and obstruction of justice. The charges stem from a search of his Peru, Indiana, home on Feb. 25, 2017, just 11 days after the bodies of Liberty German and Abigail Williams were discovered.  Kegan has admitted to creating the fake catfish profile, "Anthony_Shots" to talk to underage girls and coerce them into sending inappropriate pictures.  The Anthony_Shots profile was the last to communicate with Liberty before the girls went missing and he told her friend they had plans to meet up that day.  In this episode, we discuss an interview he had with investigators re: his child sexual abuse material allegations and his possible involvement in the Delphi murders.

Chance Englebert disappeared after a fight with his in-laws on July 6, 2019 from Gering, NE.  He left behind a new job, a 3 month old son, close friends and his tight knit family.  

On November 10th, 2010, Matthew Hoffman entered the home of Tina Herrmann to rob her but was interrupted when Tina came home from the store.  For 6 days, Tina, her son, Kody, and her best friend, Stephanie were missing.  Sarah was found days after the invasion... but the details of this case will blow your mind.  

I meant to add this but completely forgot.. my only hope is that Sierah was unconscious during the events that followed her ride with Josh.  That's the only thing about this case that will allow me to sleep tonight.  So, I just thought I'd offer that for you all to take into consideration and we can all hope and pray she didn't suffer.  This story is just awful.

Asha Jaquilla Degree went missing after appearing to run away from home on February 14th, 2000.  She was spotted by two passing motorists, walking along the highway in the middle of the night but has never been seen again.

When Sherri Papini disappeared without a trace on November 2nd, 2016, her husband and family were completely devastated.  Just as they were losing hope that she was still alive, Sherri was found, three weeks later... and the details of her disappearance were shocking. 

It's about freaking time, amirite?!  I'm so sorry to leave you guys hanging for so long... turns out, taking care of a newborn is a lot of work.  Who knew!? Today's case is literally mind blowing.  I cannot wrap my head around the Philadelphia PD's conclusion and later, the PA AG's conclusion.  Tell me what you think because am I missing something?!?  I just don't get it!

When abuse of power catches up with you... 

 

 

Back in 2007, Jennifer Mee was making the rounds through national morning shows like The Today Show for an unrelenting case of the hiccups.  She was hiccupping up to 50 times per minute and reportedly tried tons of remedies but to no avail.  Finally, the hiccups stopped after she started taking a medicine for Tourette Syndrome and with her hiccups under control, she kind of faded from the spotlight.  But just three years later, she was back in the headlines but this time, she was no longer a media darling.  This time, she was being accused of murder.

For years, the BTK killer was known to the public as BTK which stood for Bind, Torture, Kill.  An abbreviation and name that he gave himself to claim the reign of terror he caused between 1974 to 1991.  During that span of time, BTK killed ten people, including two children in Wichita and Park City, Kansas and played a taunting game of cat and mouse with investigators and local newspapers.  But then, communications stopped… for ten years, nobody heard from BTK, leaving the investigation at a standstill until he started sending letters again in 2004 which ultimately led investigators to a man named Dennis Lynn Rader – THE LONGEST RUNNING SERIAL KILLER IN US HISTORY….

Back when we started this podcast, early on, we covered the case of Jodi Arias and Travis Alexander during episode 10.  It was an incredibly bizarre case as Jodi behaved so erratically and committed a heinous crime against Travis Alexander.  It was so fascinating because it was all just so out there, leaving me to think that this wasn’t a super common thing, right?  Domestic violence is a crime that typically occurs against women with a woman being assaulted or beaten every 9 seconds in the US.  It is the leading cause of injury to women – more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. While it’s clear that women are a more prevalent target of domestic abuse, we can’t discount the fact that men are sometimes victims as well and today, we’re discussing the case of Ryan Poston and Shayna Hubers.

Our story today begins on May 24, 2019 in New Canaan, Connecticut.  Jennifer Dulos, a 50-year-old mom of 5 dropped her kids off at school in the morning and then she simply vanished.  New Canaan was a super safe town so local mom groups were terrified that this was a random act and it could happen to any one of them.  But once investigators started peeling back the layers of her contentious marriage, the reality became clear that this wasn’t a random disappearance at all.

On May 9th, 2021, on Mother's Day, Tristyn Bailey disappeared after a walk with classmate, 14-year-old Aiden Fucci.  She was found later the same day with 114 stab wounds.

Emma Fillipoff disappeared on November 28th, 2012 from Victoria, British Columbia.  Her behavior in the days and weeks leading up to her disappearance became very erratic and concerning.  Did Emma disappear or could she have been taken?

Brittanee Drexel disappeared from Myrtle Beach, SC on April 25, 2009.

Nevill and June Bamber were missing one thing from their otherwise perfect life... having a family of their own.  They adopted two children, Jeremy and Sheila and one of those kids would end up murdering the entire family in a horrendous turn of events.  But the question is, and still remains for some... which one did it?  Let me know what you think!

On this episode, we cover the case of husband killer and cannibal, Katherine Knight who received Australia's harshest sentence of life without parole and had the audacity to claim she was being too "severely punished"....  LOLZ. 

On June 7th, 1992, Suzie Streeter and her friend Stacy McCall were out late celebrating their graduation from high school.  They spent the night at Suzie's mom, Sherrill's house but none of them could be found the next day.  Nothing in the house indicated a forced entry except for one broken porch light.  To this day, the mystery of their disappearance haunts the town of Springfield, Missouri.

Robert Berdella became known as the Kansas City Butcher after kidnapping and murdering 6 men between 1984 and 1987.  His methods of torture were beyond sadistic and the way he dismembered and disposed of the bodies was without any regard for human life. 

This infuriating case begs the question: WHY did it take 10 years to finally charge Kylr Yust with the disappearance of Kara Kopetsky after so many witnesses came forward?  Could Jessica Runions's life have been spared if it weren't for our flawed justice system (answer; YES.) 

Brooke Skylar Richardson, more commonly known as Skylar, was able to hide an entire pregnancy even after she gave birth.. but her secret would be exposed in a horrifying way. 

Timmothy Pitzen was last seen on May 13, 2011 with his mom, Amy Pitzen, from the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.  His mother was found dead the next morning from an apparent suicide and left a note claiming that Timmothy was with people who would care for him and that he would never be found.  To this day, there hasn't been a trace of Timmothy's whereabouts or any clues as to whether he is officially dead or alive.  Do you think Timmothy is still alive?

Bobbie Jo Stinnett was murdered on December 16th, 2004 by Lisa Montgomery.  Bobbie Jo's baby was stolen and recovered 24 hours later.  Lisa Montgomery was convicted of Kidnapping Resulting in Death and is set to be executed on December 8th, 2020. 

The Murder of Cassie Jo Stoddart 

In recent news, on August 24th, 2020, in a 7-0 decision the Supreme Court of California upheld Scott’s conviction but overturned his death sentence because Scott’s trial judge dismissed jurors who opposed capital punishment without asking them whether they could put their views aside to uphold the law.  His petition for habeas corpus is still under review but if approved, could grant him an entirely new trial.   Today, we are going to discuss the facts of the case that may raise doubt in his guilty verdict.  I had a hard time convincing my co-host but I appreciate his opinions and I'm interested to hear what you all think!
