E27- Grimes, AI, and racist robots. -decolonial analysis-

Some people, including the future empress of Mars Grimes, think that the only way to achieve true equality is with a society controlled by AI. But is that really the case? In this episode we discuss if AI is the solution to inequality in society from and intersectional, decolonial perspective. www.mangopodcast.com Instagram: www.instagram.com/mangopodcast0 www.patreon.com/mangopodcast Sources used for this episode: Book “Race After Technology: Abolitionist Tools for the New Jim Code” Author PhD Ruha Benjamin. https://www.theguardian.com/inequality/2017/aug/08/rise-of-the-racist-robots-how-ai-is-learning-all-our-worst-impulses https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2019/12/19/federal-study-confirms-racial-bias-many-facial-recognition-systems-casts-doubt-their-expanding-use/ https://news.mit.edu/2018/study-finds-gender-skin-type-bias-artificial-intelligence-systems-0212 https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-50865437 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-54277430 https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/polisens-nya-vapen-ansiktsigenkanning?fbclid=IwAR3FnGVU0W9DTCd09ikOQ7bY2Bs6sCr7u_t4PFR-RJmSNLBjKdlRtnuQg2k https://www.thelancet.com/action/showPdf?pii=S2589-7500%2821%2900019-4 https://www.aclu.org/news/privacy-technology/how-is-face-recognition-surveillance-technology-racist/ https://www.businessinsider.com/china-social-credit-system-punishments-and-rewards-explained-2018-4?r=US&IR=T https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/15/technology/artificial-intelligence-google-bias.html https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2020/dec/04/timnit-gebru-google-ai-fired-diversity-ethics https://www.theguardian.com/inequality/2017/aug/08/rise-of-the-racist-robots-how-ai-is-learning-all-our-worst-impulses

We discuss the politics of self-care, why it is a political action, how we can take care of ourselves and our loved ones, all this while me doing one of my favorite self-care rituals: make up and listening to music.  When fighting injustice it is also important to remember that oppressed people are constant receivers of capitalist exploitation, colonialism, ableist, homophobia, policing, and other forms of systematic and structural violence. Loving and taking care of that body is not only important to keep going, but also that love and self-care becomes a powerful political action.    Comment, subscribe, and follow! www.mangopodcast.com/ www.instagram.com/mangopodcast0 www.facebook.com/MangoPodcast Video version available on Mango Podcast Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BNXh_K7mxk

E18: The environmental movement is not political enough

The amazing Swedish activist Greta Thunberg said in a few words on her official Facebook account, that the environmental movement is not political. But I thought that statement was very… irresponsible.
