When I hear the words ‘ghost’ and ‘Christmas,’ I automatically think about my favorite Christmas story, A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, and Scrooge’s nightmare evening of being visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future. But did you know other Christmas ghost stories aren’t so full of hope and the spirit of the season? You may not since hauntings are far from most people’s minds during Christmas.

I’m deviating from interviews and sharing a short story on this episode.
It is also the prologue from my second book, Ingress. All of my books start with a short story as the prologue. The prologue is set in the past and relates to the present-day setting of the main novel.
I researched Alaska Native legends. Then I used some of the characteristics for this short story. If you enjoy tales and learning about the Alaska Native culture, may I suggest reading A Dena'ina Legacy, The Collected Writings of Peter Kalifornsky. It has been one of my go-to books when I'm creating characters for my supernatural thrillers.
