Got Room This Christmas? - Part 1 || Ed Beeson
As a kid, the thought of no more room at Christmas was probably that of “no more room under the Christmas Tree”, as an adult it may be no more room to eat after being stuffed from a good meal. Of course, one Thanksgiving hits our lives get so incredibly full of things until the new year comes around. But does life get so full that there isn’t even room for Jesus?
More Like Jesus - Part 11 || Ed Beeson
Are you one of those people who wish they could just be left alone when you come to church? It can be easy to isolate yourself and disconnect from others and get caught up in your own selfish ways. The only problem is that is not how God operates nor is it how He expects us to operate. If we are to grow more Like Jesus, we are to allow His work to be done in us and through us.
In Everything Give Thanks || Ed Beeson
On October 3, 1789, President George Washington issued a proclamation full of faith and wisdom, designating Thursday, November 26, 1789 as a National Day of Thanksgiving for our nation. In today's message, Ed shares some Principles of Thanksgiving found in that proclamation.
More Like Jesus - Part 10 || Ed Beeson
God intends for our faith to make a difference in our lives! Whatever your life was in the past, Jesus can change the hold it has over you. Whatever your life is right now, You have both the responsibility to follow in His steps and with all the uncertainty of the future. Thinking & Living like Jesus will give you peace in the midst of all of that.
More Like Jesus - Part 9 || Ed Beeson
In this part of our "More Like Jesus" we take a good look at the issue about Abortion. When the Supreme Court over-turned Roe v. Wade in 2022, they said it was an issue for each state. This Tuesday, the people in our state have the opportunity to vote on the abortion issue. So what’s your “Gut Reaction”? Is what you believe determined by the commercials that run, non-stop? Or is what you believe determined by the agenda & algo-rhythms of a political party? Or perhaps your conviction about abortion is the result of a personal experience. One thing is clear from the Word of God: Everyone in this situation, the women & men involved, as well as the unborn babies, are created in the image of God and are worthy of life and grace.
More Like Jesus - Part 8 || Ed Beeson
Philippians 2:5 says, “In your lives, you must think and act like Christ Jesus.” Scripture also refers to that as ‘Dying to self’ or ‘Being crucified with Christ’. John the Baptist understood what that meant in his life: “He must increase and I must decrease.” What does that truly look like and what does a lifestyle of living that look like?
More Like Jesus - Part 7 || Ed Beeson
Have you noticed the “Anti-Social” impact that “Social Media” has on people? Instead of talking to each other, we spend more time on our phones. Sometimes we become keyboard warriors as we try to intimidate others online. It's become quite clear that we need more Jesus and "less me" when it comes to how we interact with others.
More Like Jesus - Part 6 || Ed Beeson
It can be incredibly frustrating, to deal with people who think that life revolves around them. However, this frustration frequently reveals that we want their life to revolve around us. In today's message, we approach this conflict by looking to Jesus as our model, for living life the way that God intended.
More Like Jesus - Part 5 || Ed Beeson
When you need guidance where to you typically turn? Do you rely on instict? Perhaps a routine? Maybe family members, friends, or coworkers. With Technology maybe it's Siri, Google, or Alexa. How do we seek the proper guidance? In order to look more like Jesus we need to find out where He went for guidance. We explore that in today's message.
More Like Jesus - Part 4 || Ed Beeson
Jesus was our model for what obedience to God looks like. He not only showed us that it can be done but also how to get it done. In today's message, we explore how to overcome defiance and live in obedience to God so that we can look more like Jesus!
More Like Jesus - Part 3 || Ed Beeson
When it comes to prayer, we can get super self-conscious about our own inadequacies. We oftentimes don't think we have the right words and sometimes our prayers come out of a selfish - self-serving heart. But the fact of the matter is if we are to be more like Jesus we need to pray. Jesus depended on prayer because Jesus depended on His Heavenly Father.
Set Apart || Anthony Whitley
1 Peter tells us 'it is written, "Be Holy, for I am Holy".' What does that mean? And how do we do that? Our special guest speaker and long-time friend, Mr. Anthony Whitley takes some time to help us understand what it means and the implications of being "set apart" in today's message.
More Like Jesus - Part 2 || Ed Beeson
As Christians, we tend to be sensitive to accusations of “Hypocrisy”, but the reality is that Religious Hypocrites are nothing new. Jesus confronted people who claimed to be right with God but weren’t as they were putting on a show. Isaiah confronted those who honored God with their words but their hearts were far from Him. With this, our own inconsistency with being Christ-like can be overwhelming & intimidate us. But there’s hope for people who want to stop pretending and start living like Jesus. We explore this in today's message.
More Like Jesus - Part 1 || Ed Beeson
What would it look like if Jesus were to live the life we are living? Do we truly know Him to the point where we adopt His character? Today we explore the scriptures to see what it means when we are told to conduct ourselves the way Jesus did.
The World is Still In His Hands - Part 6 || Ed Beeson
We all have that voice that’s a running commentary. The question is what is it that ends up getting stuck in our heads? Sometimes it can be songs or events but it can also be those stupid things that you might have said or something that was said to you. The typical dad advice of "just stop thinking about it" just isn't that simple. In fact, it often makes things worse as we end up fixating on those things. But we have to realize that our thoughts have incredible power. Today as we continue our series and continue in Philippians 4 we take some time to evaluate what it is we are thinking.
The World is Still In His Hands - Part 5 || Ed Beeson
In Max Lucado's book, "Anxious for Nothing" he says "The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional." In today's message, we explore this concept as we read through Philippians chapter 4.
The World is Still In His Hands - Part 4 || Ed Beeson
We don’t always get things right when we’re worried and need help to get back on track. In today’s message, we look at an example of this with Elijah and how things went with King Ahab and Jezebel in 1 Kings 19.
The World is Still in His Hands - Part 3 || Ed Beeson
Today we go into Matthew 6 to see how Jesus shows us that if we seek God and His Kingdom first that everything will be taken care of. In other words, more faith = less worry.
The World is Still in His Hands - Part 2 || Ed Beeson
Sometimes you look at the world & wonder if God dropped the ball. If you’re listening to the news more than the Word of God, it’s tempting to say, ‘Why bother!’ But the stories of God, found in the Bible, remind us that no matter what’s happening in the world, The Whole World is Still in His Hands! And that’s why we trust Him. That’s why we listen to Him. That’s why we obey and wait for Him.
The World is Still in His Hands - Part 1 || Ed Beeson
Even when Our World seems Out-of-Control, God still Has the Whole World in His Hands! Remembering that Truth brings peace to our Worried Hearts when we’re overwhelmed by Life. And when Life isn’t Fair, this is the rock-solid truth that becomes the foundation of our life. God Still Has the Whole World in His Hands! We need that reassurance now, more than ever!
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 11 || Ed Beeson
The World needs to see the Presence of God in Everyday Christians, now more than ever! The current events of the day make us all wonder if God has dropped the ball. In today's message, we wrap up this series in chapter 6 of Ephesians and discuss what it takes to stand in the times we are in.
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 10 || Ed Beeson
God wants to live like Him, every day, with a 24-7-365 type of Consistency. It does nothing to advance the eternal purposes of God if all His people do is meet and talk about Him. Or if His people only talk about Him and never actually live like Him. Of course, we know that these are known as hypocrites! It's interesting to note that the presence of God is best experienced when everyday people truly love God and others. In today's message, we go through this as Paul expressed to the church at Ephesus in Ephesians chapter 5.
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 9 || Ed Beeson
Everyday Christianity is seen in our Relationship with Others and Ephesians 4 is not just a picture of the church on Sunday mornings. It’s a picture of the church every day of the week no matter where we are at. As verse 16 of Ephesians puts it. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. But it’s not just a picture of Everyday Religion… It’s a picture of Everyday Relationships! Today we explore what it means how to incorporate this in our daily living.
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 8 || Ed Beeson
It's good to know that we are saved but what does that mean? It can be hard for us but God us gives us the reason and the ability to change. And He expects us to change. This change includes a new identity, new relationships, new strength and ultimately a new life. But how do we do that? We explore that in today's message.
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 7 || Ed Beeson
Jesus taught that every day people could know God like a Father. We get to see this ultimately in Jesus. After all, to know Jesus is to know the Father!
247365 - Part 6 || Ed Beeson
Despite our determination to be better, desire doesn't always translate to Everyday Life. The good news is that there's a place in God's Family for Everyday People. We explore further in this message what it means to be a Christian 24 Hours a day, 7 Days a week, 365 Days a year.
Standing On The Gap || Danny Vanscoy
Danny looks at the first three mentioned in the Hebrews 11 Hall of Faith and looks at how they conducted themselves so that we have a better understanding of how we should be living as Christians.
What Are You Looking At?? || Keith Huey
We were honored to have Keith Huey join us this morning as he gave a deeper perspective on the David and Goliath story. We look at the character of Goliath, David, and Saul and ask the serious question, "What are YOU looking at?"
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 5 || Ed Beeson
We Should Live Like God Has Given Us A New Life… Everyday, 24-7-365! The reality of a fresh start is hard to fathom, especially when we still struggle with the old junk. But that doesn’t mean God’s not working on you! Here at MCC, we’re just everyday people, trying to learn how to live God's new life everyday, 24-7-365.
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 4 || Ed Beeson
Life can be overwhelming. Whether it’s because of the expectations & demands of people or circumstances. When that happens, it’s easy to look for someone to blame. Right on cue, Satan starts his whisper campaign to convince us that all of it is God’s fault. This is why it's important that we truly know God. The better that we know Him the more we trust him every day.
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 3 || Ed Beeson
We don’t always live every day like good Christians. You can understand why Adam & Eve tried to hide from God after the choice they made. That’s why Romans 5:8 NLT may be challenging… “God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” God’s love FOR US and His mercy shown TO US in Christ is NOT ABOUT US… It’s about HIM! It’s not because of WHO we are, WHAT we know, what we’ve ALWAYS DONE, or what we’ve NEVER DONE.
What Kingdom Do You Serve? || Anthony Whitley
There's a battle going on and as C.S. Lewis put it, "The world for the Christian is ‘Enemy-occupied territory’". Are we truly chasing after God or are we getting caught in the ways of this world?Show less
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 2 || Ed Beeson
God wants people to know Him. Not just WHO He is, but WHAT He’s like…
That was how John chose to start telling people what he knew about Jesus.
247365 - Everyday Christianity - Part 1 || Ed Beeson
God Expects Us to Live Our Faith Everyday. If our Christianity is just what we do & where we go on Sundays, it has no enduring value. For example, Ohio Memorial Chapel in Tiffin, Ohio. A former church that's now out of business because it forgot to take care of business. We must not only do Christianity on Sunday morning but we need to take it to our communities and live it EVERY DAY!
Following the Steps of Jesus - Part 6 - "Death to Life" - Easter Service || Ed Beeson
Have you ever wished you could change? Do you know you should be a better person, but for some reason, you keep falling back into the same rut? Today I’ll show you from Romans 6 how sharing the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus will set you free.
Following The Steps of Jesus - Part 5 || Ed Beeson
Many of our parents tried to impress the importance of ‘finishing' on us when we were growing up. We still hear that inner voice: ‘Clean your plate’ - ‘Finish your chores’ - ‘Do your homework 1st’. Today’s sermon from the ‘Stations of the Cross’ series will focus on the last words of Jesus: “It is finished!”
Following The Steps of Jesus - Part 4 || Ed Beeson
When things become routine and familiar, they become invisible. We don’t want that to happen to us when it comes to thinking about the crucifixion and resurrection. It started in the Garden with, “Father, is there any other way? But if not, I’m in… Just give me the strength!” The betrayal of Judas and the charade of a trial, because the religious leaders already had their minds made up. While that’s going on, Peter has his convictions challenged. As predicted he denies his relationship with Jesus.
Following The Steps of Jesus - Part 3 || Ed Beeson
There’s a fine line between ‘fun’ and ‘frustration’. Even watching the kids opening their presents at Christmas can get tedious as it drags out. The longer something takes, the less patience we have. Follow the Steps of Jesus as He interacts with people throughout the night of His trial, and you will be amazed at what it cost Him [and us] to pick up the cross and follow Him.
Following the Steps of Jesus - Part 2 || Ed Beeson
‘Test Anxiety’ can affect anyone. The worry and self-doubt we feel can be crushing. Whether that be a School test, a Medical Test, or a Driver’s License Exam. Here we are in the midst of March Madness and there is the overwhelming pressure for players to ‘Win or Go Home.' But James 1:2 tells us when we encounter various trials & the testing of our faith, that it can be celebrated.
Following The Steps of Jesus - Part 1 || Ed Beeson
Our Natural Inclination is to want things done our way… James, the brother of Jesus, claimed that not getting what we want would be the cause of every argument & fight. That same issue spills over into our relationship with God. This is why Jesus said: “If people want to follow ME, they must give up the things THEY want…” Luke 9:23 NCV. Peter repeats that same idea in 1 Peter 2:21 ISV, "The Messiah also suffered for you and left an example for you to follow in his steps." In our message, we explore what it means to "follow the steps of Jesus".
#Blessed - Part 4 || Ed Beeson
Ecclesiastes tells us that “It’s better to FINISH something than to START it.” Jesus told us that ‘Not everyone can be my disciple. Carry your cross & follow Me - Don’t begin what you can’t finish!’ Paul told us, “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” In this weeks message we look at how the blessing of God causes us to finish strong.
#Blessed - Part 3 || Ed Beeson
Most of us would easily admit that sometimes we just don't know how to pray. In today's message, we explore this.
#Blessed - Part 2 || Ed Beeson
God wants to do MORE with our life than we could ever imagine! In our prayers, we TELL God that we want to know His will for our life… but DO WE? What if the “BLESSED” Life that God has in mind for us, takes us where we’ve never been before?
#Blessed - Part 1 || Ed Beeson
It’s in God’s Nature to Bless our Lives. In fact, God Promised His Blessing to Abram ‘I will bless you and all people will be blessed through you’ in Genesis chapter 12. Jesus explains how to live life blessed by God in His Sermon on the Mount. The Apostle Paul tells believers ‘God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ' in Ephesians 1:3. But life doesn’t always feel “Blessed" and the blessings we do have can feel as temporary as words written in the sand.
The Time is Now - Part 4 - The Time is Now for Outrageous Prayer || Ed Beeson
It is SO FRUSTRATING when it feels like there’s nothing you can do to make a difference! What do you do, when it feels like there’s nothing you can do? The simple answer is this: “You pray” But that seems like such a soft, weak answer, doesn’t it? That’s probably why Prayer is often our LAST RESORT instead of our FIRST RESPONSE!
The Time is Now - Part 3 - The Time is Now to Keep Trusting God || Ed Beeson
Just this week it was reported that there have been over 350 cars stolen in Central Ohio THIS YEAR… 20/day! So apparently you can either ‘Lie, Cheat & Steal’ to get what you want… Or you can TRUST GOD’s OPINION that Character, Integrity, a Work Ethic & Self-Discipline will pay off. One Satisfies God… the Other Satisfies Yourself.
The Time is Now - Part 2 - The Time is Now For Faith to Step Up || Ed Beeson
You can wish, you can hope, and you can pray. But eventually, you are going to have to obey. Especially when God says, "The Time is Now!" Do you ever notice that sometimes people have a tendency to be what we often call ‘Blow-Hards’? In Texas, they’re referred to as: ‘All Hat & No Cattle ... Trash Talkers who got beat on every play.' God has an opinion about people who are like that regarding their faith. James 2:14 CEB “What good is it if people SAY they have faith, but DO NOTHING to show it?” James 2:17 The Msg- ‘Does merely TALKING about faith indicate that a person really has it?’
The Time is Now - Part 1 - The Time is Now for Courage || Ed Beeson
You can wish, you can hope, and you can pray. But eventually, you are going to have to obey. Especially when God says, "The Time is Now!" Nobody wants to be a coward, but the struggle for courage isn’t just a sub-plot in Dorothy’s ‘Wizard of Oz'. As each new chapter of our life is written, new challenges force us to face our fears. And whether it’s our fear of the unknown, or fear of the known... we all need courage.
The Breaking News of Christmas || Ed Beeson
Have you noticed how dark the world has gotten? Well, the good news is that light only serves its purpose in the dark. The Breaking News of Christmas is that Light has come to us from God. We must live as children of light to help others know who He is.
MCC Christmas Message - Is There Room in Your Heart? || Ed Beeson
Have you noticed the shelves at the ‘Big Box Stores’ are fully stocked with Storage Tubs? These things are so big, you’d never be able to lift them if you filled them! Why are they everywhere now? People have to figure out how to make room for all the stuff they got for Christmas! Here’s the real question: Is there any room in your life… for Jesus?
