In today's episode, Drew and Chris take a deep dive, and we mean DEEP dive (just over 3 hours) into the topic of head coverings from 1 Corinthians 11:2-16. This topic is addressed by the Apostle Paul (using 15 verses), under the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit, in a very specific way for a very specific reason. This is not a difficult passage to interpret and apply however there are many who steer clear of it or do not take a consistent and/or balanced hermeneutical approach to exegeting the text. Our goal is to address this from all sides using Scripture, church history, the culture in Corinth at the time, and our culture today.

When a fellow believer in the Lord Jesus Christ is caught in a transgression, and have repented of that transgression, we who are spiritual have the responsibility to hoist up, must have resolve to hold up, and need to be reminded to do so with humility (Galatians 6:1-5).

On Sunday Feb 5, 2023, recording artist Sam Smith took to the platform at the Grammy Awards to perform the hit song (according to the world’s standards) “Unholy.” Sam, dressed as Satan and his team then performed “Unholy” as one would expect considering the artist, the name of the song, and the time we live in. The next day many Christians took to social media to publicly express their thoughts on the performance (and rightly so).

However, many of those who were so outspoken still willingly invite in and/or support those to whom scripture refers to as "savage wolves" in many areas of their own lives. In the latest episode of MoT, Chris seeks to answer the question of "who is more dangerous, the devil we can see or the one disguised as an angel of light?"

Welcome back to season 3 of Matter of Theology. There are too many professing believers in the Lord Jesus Christ who have a horribly anemic view of God's word, and the God of the Word. The sufficiency of scripture is under attack. In episode 8, Chris walks us through what the scriptures say about scripture in a brief overview of Psalm 19:7-14. In this episode, Chris is joined by Dr. James Coates, Pastor-Teacher at GraceLife Church in Edmonton Canada, and co-author of the book “God vs Government: Taking a Biblical Stand When Christ and Compliance Collide.” Tune in and listen as Chris and James talk through what James experienced over the last 2 years. 

Following the 2022 Shepherds’ Conference, Chris attended the Grace Life fellowship group on Sunday morning March 13, 2022 at Grace Community Church. Dr. Mike Riccardi preached on the topic of “Same Sex Mirage: Why Christians Cannot Affirm Homosexuality.” Dr. Riccardi walked through five arguments the world uses as to why homosexuality is reconcilable to biblical orthodox Christianity and then proceeds to refute those arguments biblically.

Afterwards, we asked Dr. Riccardi if we may use the audio and release it here on MoT to which he graciously agreed.

Season 3 of MoT rolls on with a bit of a different episode. Tune in as Chris is joined by Chris Hohnholz from Voice of Reason Radio. The guys mentally download all they experienced at the 2022 Shepherds' Conference... and then some.

Recently Drew sent in a list of 10 questions to a podcast to see if they would answer some questions about their subject matter. So, we thought it would be a good idea to address the same questions. Tune in as the guys have a little impromptu freestyle Q&A time. Enjoy!

Unfortunately today there are many inside professing evangelicalism, including Pastors, who seem to be sinfully loose when it comes to the language they use. Many do so siting ‘Christian Liberty,’ using descriptive stories from scripture to justify themselves, and/or any other excuse to justify using carnal, crass, and filthy language. So, what does Scripture have to say about the language we use? When it comes to God the Holy Spirit, in today’s professing evangelical church, there are far too many who either do not know Him at all and/or commit blasphemous treason against the whole of our Triune Godhead by attributing works to Him that are lies from hell. Season 2 continues as Chris is joined once again by Drew Von Nieda, the founder of MoT. In this episode Chris and Drew have a freestyle and very candid conversation about the podcast by Christianity Today entitled, "The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill." During this conversation, the guys discuss the podcast from CT, Mark Driscoll, and share some personal experiences. The guys get very honest but seek to do what they always do, keep it central to what Scripture teaches for the glory of Christ and edification of His bride. Far too many professing evangelical churches approach worship in every way except regulated wholly by the Holy Word of God. According to Scripture, this should not be the case. In this episode of MoT, Chris takes an exegetical look at the sufficiency of scripture and the freedom found in the regulative principle of worship.

Season 2 of MoT continues as Chris takes some time to address the issue of worship both individually and corporately. The word worship has been hijacked and redefined to lessen the meaning and weight of it in the life of professing evangelical Christians. This should not be!
