MedicAlert Foundation collaborates with a local law enforcement officer to safely return a member who lives with dementia and hearing loss. The member wandered from his safe environment.

Jill Pollander of the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) will discuss what makes a disease rare, who is affected by rare disease, and share invaluable patient and caregiver resources available through NORD.
NORD is the leading patient advocacy organization dedicated to those living with rare diseases. Over 25 million adults and children in the U.S. live with rare disease. Those living with a rare disorder face multiple challenges: finding information on their condition, accessing specialized care, and lack of available treatments. NORD, along with its more than 330 rare disease-specific member organizations, is committed to the identification, treatment, and cure of rare disorders through programs of education, advocacy, research, and patient services.

MedicAlert Healthy Hour: COVID-19 and the Holidays
We're so grateful for Dr. Hartman's time and expertise. During our LIVE Healthy Hour discussion, Dr. Hartman shared thoughtful insights on how to safely navigate the holidays. Dr. Shulkin kicked off the MedicAlert LIVE Healthy Hour series in early April. More than three months in, our understanding of COVID-19 and its impacts continues to evolve. Dr. Shulkin will answer your questions about living with a chronic illness during the global pandemic, and bring us up to speed on the latest coronavirus developments. An internist, Dr. Shulkin served as U.S. Secretary for Veterans Affairs. Prior to his government service, he was President and CEO of Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.

Between the global coronavirus pandemic, accompanying lockdowns of the economy and social life, and recent social unrest - 2020 is a strange time. For everyone - but especially those living with chronic medical conditions - the current situation presents unique challenges. Staying healthy, both mentally and physically, is more important than ever. Join MedicAlert Foundation and Dr. Paul Puri for a discussion on coping strategies and resources available for staying healthy and safe during this unprecedented crisis.
Dr. Puri is a board certified psychiatrist, in private practice in Los Angeles. He practices multiple forms of psychotherapy, including hypnosis, in addition to managing medications. He attended medical school at University of Rochester, and specialty training in psychiatry at UC San Diego. He is currently Assistant Professor at UCLA, and the President of the Psychiatric Clinical Faculty Association at UCLA. In his non-clinical time he consults and writes for TV, and is the Chief Medical Officer for an online mental hub, OOTify - OOTify.com

We are living in very interesting times. The coronavirus epidemic has thrust us all into unexpected and unfamiliar circumstances. At MedicAlert, we remain committed to our mission: saving and protecting lives in our members’ moments of needs. But we believe this is a time that calls for going above and beyond the mission. That’s why we’re introducing a new forum to provide a safe and welcoming space for connection – the MedicAlert LIVE Healthy Hour. We’ll host an hour long live gathering each week to foster support and connection within the MedicAlert community. We were also honored to be joined by Dr. David Shulkin, who helped answer some of our member questions about the COVID-19 pandemic for this topic.
