Love Means More

Love Means More

What is love?  Tina Turner thought it was a "second-hand emotion".  Other's say it's "a battlefield".  Sometimes love is selfish, sometimes love is self-less.  In this episode, Renee and Liz start with Valentine's Day, but take the discussion to what is more: focusing on how we comprehend the love of God and how it makes a difference in our lives as it works it's way into our relationships. Talking 'bout Anxiety or, "Don't Worry, Be Happy" **

Talking 'bout Anxiety or, "Don't Worry, Be Happy" **

In today's teaching episode, Renee chats with therapist and educator Dr. Ava Kate Oleson about dealing with anxiety.  Anxiety is the commonest reason women come in for help, and Ava walks us through what causes anxiety, what happens when you ignore it, and what you can do to overcome it in your life.  Her commentary provides potential solutions that you can incorporate to help ease anxiety, using the S.M.A.R.T. acronym. (25:33) We hope this episode adds insight on this important topic. ** We reference and comment on the Billboard 100 song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin (1988) which can be found on the Spotify app Time Stamps:. What are some causes of anxiety? (15:14) Do non-believers struggle with anxiety more than Christians? (21:02) S: "Stop Sinning" (26:31) M: "Mindfulness" (30:49) A: "Take Action" (35:38) R: "Renew Your Mind" (43:50) T: "Take Care of Your Body" (53:14) Notable quotes from from the show:   "Rear view mirrors were never meant for forward navigation". (31:27) "Evaluated experience is the best teacher". (31:33) "The more we experience success the more we are motivated, because energy generates energy". (39:05) "We gloss over what we told ourselves deep down inside; we don't always tell ourselves in words, we tell ourselves in feelings". PREMIER EPISODE: God Is Our Refuge

PREMIER EPISODE: God Is Our Refuge

In our premiere episode, our hosts Renee and Liz take some time to share the vision behind the new podcast.  Based on feedback from Mesa Women at a recent gathering, we found inspiration to create a podcast around the things that matter most to you.  We want to engage in practical and wise conversations around scripture, address issues of mind, body and soul, navigating anxiety, strengthening friendships, and so much more! Our first episode begins with a discussion around Psalm 46:  GOD IS OUR REFUGE.  Renee and Liz take the verses and turn them into food for thought. Why do we need a refuge, and why do we make things other than God our refuge?  How do we move forward in the face of loss and grief?  And finally, how can we celebrate God's unfailing strength towards us as we trust Him?  Let's get started.   For more info on MESA CHURCH visit our website at https://mesa.church/ Or Download our app at MESA CHURCH.  There's always room at the table.
