Mike Kolar is a name that you've most definitely come across if you're making music in Chicago. The owner and operator of Soundscape Studios on Chicago Ave in the city's West Town neighborhood, Kolar also is one half of the independent label Closed Sessions. For the past few decades, the man has engineered projects for the likes of George Clinton, Ludacris, Chance The Rapper, Jamila Woods and many, many more. I've been hanging out there for far too long and avid listeners will notice that we've recently taken up a residency there as well. To kick off 2020 then, it only seemed appropriate we sit down the man himself, Mike Kolar.

Greg is well-known for his work as a drummer with Kids These Days and Chance The Rapper as well as SZA and Frank Ocean and expanded to production with a credit on Chance's "Mixtape" from Coloring Book. Today, he's gearing up for the next decade with a bunch of new music that utilizes the lessons he learned along the way. A very interesting perspective into the Chicago music scene.
