Highlights of This Podcast:

[01:41] I graduated from Auburn University, in Business Administration with a focus on marketing and accounting.
[02:27]finally was given the opportunity and the privilege to work for my father's company, which was a storage facility.
[03:41]the biggest thing is the internet.
[04:33]Because it's all about technology, especially with that industry.
[06:12]people that grew up during the Great Depression knew to be frugal, and you hung on to everything,
[08:38]Google ads are the cheapest, they can work, but they're a short term gain for results
[09:28]We would pay two to $5,000 a month depending on what we were doing
[11:15]marketing isn't just about your website, that's just a huge in this world. It's a big piece of the pie.
[12:48]So definitely doing our Google ads and keeping our website at standard
[13:45]management software, and doing a website that has the key things like SEO, and Google ads. That's what kept us going
[14:46]For marketing to work, you need to make sure your company is established
[15:18]you build your budget for marketing and with that you can build your marketing plan.
[16:37]It's not just the cake at the end. It's all the pieces in steps that were to make that cake.

Highlights of This Podcast:

[01:00]  if you don't have a LinkedIn, please make a link
[01:25] Once you make it, you want a profile picture, of course, just like a Facebook
[01:40]  it needs to be a picture of you
[02:43] Then you have a cover photo again, just like on Facebook
[03:26] make sure you have a good good cover photo
[03:57] put in a short little bio on yourself like a couple sentences of what it is you do and you want that to be very niche very focused
[05:04] put your city in there where you are
[05:20] If you have any type of like lead generator, or an e book or some sort, you can add some of these things in the featured section
[06:01] there is a bio section, I encourage you to have it be obviously maybe three to five paragraphs on you and who you are
[07:44] There's another section that you can fill out based on your what licenses or certifications
[08:33] the more you fill out, the better you're going to pop up in searches
[09:08] you can actually have something that's called recommendations on LinkedIn
[10:16] maybe you try and connect with people from from high school or college, or a current workplace
[10:57] if you send too many connections out in a day, there's a thing called LinkedIn jail
[11:27] LinkedIn does reward people, the more you engage on the profile
[12:05]  if you have somebody who is commenting, and liking and sharing and just on the platform, adding value and making the platform better
[12:12] they're going to let you send more connection requests to people and be more engaged in the platform

#FinallyMarketingThatWorksPodcast

Highlights of This Podcast:

[01:24]  there are specific things you can do and add to your website to help it do better
[02:05] people look at websites in a specific way, typically in a Z pattern
[02:18]  top left will be the logo of your company
[02:26] the very top right, there should be a call to action
[03:15]  they will diagonally typically go across the screen. And this is where the big like money-making sentence should be
[04:23] I love your story, put it on the about page.
[04:35] Don't use big words that people wouldn’t understand if they're outside the organization.
[05:03] break things down to be super simple, so I can understand what they're talking about
[07:09] before they start scrolling, just a little tidbit here, is we always call it above the fold
[08:20] there's a small part where you want to empathize with the client,
[09:13] The big part that I want you guys to have towards the bottom is how easy it is to work with you.
[10:38] Donald Miller has some great content
[10:52] keep only the truly important ones that need to be up there
[11:12]   not everything has to be at the very top, it just looks cluttered. So put it at the very, very bottom of the website.
[11:26]  You need to have some type of lead generator on your website
[13:04] you want to build out an email sequence
[14:24  I love this analogy of the cherry analogy
[17:40]  you break, make something so complicated, so simple

Highlights of This Podcast:

[01:59] So the first part of this Customer Journey number one is interest.
[02:37] the next one in the journey is you go to search for it.
[04:57] And so you invested thousands and thousands of dollars to give Fiona's Flooring a new client.
[05:11] you have to win in every section of The Customer Journey,
[05:44] you want to make sure you're investing in your ranking for your website.
[05:48] just invest in your website to begin with.
[06:07] you want to be investing in your ranking online, which is another word for SEO
[06:52] And then the third piece, okay, is reviews.
[07:37] Now once you get those reviews, you have to respond to them.
[07:55]  Always respond with your business name in the response.
[08:44] if you were to get a one two or three star which we consider those to be bad reviews, please still respond.
[09:02] when you respond, really ensure that you're not responding to the person who left a bad review just for them. 12
[10:13] don't argue in the comments that just looks extremely unprofessional,
[10:52] step four, which would be conversion. So they're like, I'm ready to buy. Take my money,
[11:31] You need now their help to tell their friends to leave a review
[13:51]  You want to make sure you are just look amazing with your online reputation
[15:10] once the conversion is good, okay, boom! they bought advocacy

Highlights of this Podcast:

[02:46] I work slash worked for one of the bigger law firms in the in the area that used to be called Steinger, Iscoe & Greene.
[03:42] I decided to transition away from the law firm and work full-time at the agency, which is Zulu Shack Creative
[04:02] I've been in SEO for almost six years.
[04:23] I was like, what, what is SEO?
[05:44] more people know what SEO is, but I have this analogy I've used for years now
[06:11] I'll always talk, you know, start with client and tell them that their business is the village
[07:14] SEO, I like to say is the gathering side to the hunting side so it's the gardening and gathering.
[09:42] You're the first I think real SEO I've ever told that to
[14:29] you know, Zulu is a tribe in South Africa.
[14:57] I love your tagline
[15:15] That's my next step is taglines and figuring out how to be clear.
[18:13] with SEO, it's sort of like, you know, a bunch of chefs a bunch of recipes,
[19:25] the first thing I will do is usually a crawling and indexing audit
[20:10] that's called a redirect chain
[20:36] the idea with search, you know, with SEO is is that Google is sort of the enemy
[21:00] Google will tell you what's going on, they'll tell you crawlers are hitting your site
[22:23] it's called a website, and we use the term spider and all that good stuff
[22:35] Are they being linked too? And are they linking back?
[22:59] second thing that I'll go into usually, is a strategy
[23:51] what does the client want to rank for?
[24:02] I'll usually do a lot of analysis, a lot of keyword analysis
[25:37] our agency does everything from start to finish in house
[26:30] Google Search Console
[27:29] Jarvis AI
[29:52] you do completely different SEO for a large corporation than from a small website,
[30:13] the biggest things differences I see is just resources
[31:24] for a lot of the bigger websites, there's just seems like there's always more challenges
[34:08] I would go anywhere between five and fifteen hours 20
[34:27] someone on the Google team actually said SEO takes anywhere between four and ten months
[34:49] I usually think it's healthy to go anywhere between five and fifteen
[36:51] we are Zulu Shack Creative. Named because my brother and I, obviously from South Africa
