Pumpkin Ale & Horror Heartthrobs

Pumpkin Ale & Horror Heartthrobs

It’s time for our annual pumpkin ale tasting party to celebrate Halloween. We’ve got an interesting line up of brews and a few spooky snacks as well. While we knock ‘em back, we decided to talk about some of our favorite horror heartthrobs. So, pull up a bar stool and help us get into the Halloween spirit.

The Pumpkin Ales featured in this episode are Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin, Blue Point Mother Pumpkin Ale, Pumpkin Spice Cannoli from Shebeen Brewing and Terror On The Hudson from the Yonkers Brewing Co.

Jason-Palooza: Let’s Talk About Friday the 13th

This time we take a trip back to Camp Crystal Lake for an episode devoted to our favorite hockey masked slasher, Jason Voorhees. (And his mom, Pamela, of course. Let’s not forget her.)

As usual, with no prep, we sat down and had a nice, long chat about this horror legend. The good, the bad and the hilarious.

Check it out, and let us know your thoughts on the unluckiest of all horror franchises.

Nature Strikes Back: Animal Attack Flicks

Nature Strikes Back: Animal Attack Flicks

They say you shouldn’t mess with Mother Nature and this time on the Monster Men podcast we’ll show you why. We sat down in Hunter’s belfry and thought of as many “animal attack” movies as we could, off the tops our heads. We’ve got bears, snakes, gators, spiders, sharks, bees, frogs… and even some bunnies. It’s a pretty good list if you’re looking for something to watch tonight.

Movies discussed include Day of the Animals, Prophecy, Frogs, Them, Empire of the Ants, Tarantula, It Came From Beneath the Sea, Kingdom of the Spiders, Arachnophobia, Eight Legged Freaks, Night of the Lepus, Cujo, Eaten Alive, Anaconda, Lake Placid, Alligator, Mako: The Jaws of Death, Grizzley, Grizzley II: Revenge, Backcountry, Food of the Gods, Sssssss and more.

We’re sure we missed a few. Tell us what some of your favorites are.

Halloween Extravaganza: Booze, Food & Horror Movies

Bon Appetit, boys and ghouls! In keeping with our tradition of celebrating Halloween with a Pumpkin Ale episode, we present our Halloween Extravaganza. This year we are pair an odd assortment of October themed alcoholic drinks with an equally quirky array of Fall flavored foods. All while we pair an lesser known horror movie with an old favorite.

Some things on the menu include pumpkin whisky & soda, toasted marshmallow seltzer, pumpkin pasta, Halloween Peeps and Monster Mash cereal.

You may call it Octoberfest, but around here we call it Horrortoberfest.

The Fly Remake vs Original w/ the PaleoCheeze Podcast

The time on Monster Men, we welcome our pals Chad Lutzke and Jeremiah Bannister from the PaleoCheeze Podcast. Chad, like us, is a crusty horror veteran and he often watches horror movies with Jeremiah, who has hardly seen anything scary on the silver screen. It’s always a lot of fun.

We’ve invited them to watch and compare two legendary horror movies; The Fly, starring Vincent Price from 1958 and the remake with from 1986, directed by David Cronenberg and starring: Jeff Goldblum and ‎Geena Davis.

You should follow these guys and subscribe to their podcast.

Chad Lutzke is also one hell of a writer. Check out his books on Amazon or his site:

Thanksgiving From Hell

Thanksgiving From Hell

Gobble, gobble everyone. Yes, Jack and Hunter are truly at it again with  their second annual Thanksgiving tasting feast from the far reaches of  hell. Thank Cthulu they also had a bevy of delicious pumpkin ales to  choose from to wash that cornucopia of nastiness down. Filmed in a  secret location, far from the corona virus police, the Monster Men invite  all to break bread with them and sample some fine beers. Give thanks  that you can laugh at their misery.

Note: This is a very visual episode, so you might want to check it out on YouTube to get the full effect. Look up Monster Me 13 to find us.

The Paul Lynde Halloween Special

The Paul Lynde Halloween Special

In this knee-slapper of an episode, the Monster Men take the center square for the win. What better way to start Horrortober than a trip back to that magical era where every star had their own variety show? And what better show to unearth than the Paul Lynde Halloween Special from 1976? It’s a cavalcade of stars surrounding the master comic who looked like someone had a gun to his head from start to finish. The jokes may fall flatter than Jack and Hunter's ass cheeks, but the unintentional humor is hysterical. Come join Paul and his witchy friends as they're joined by the likes of Florence Henderson, Betty White, Pinky Tuscadero, Tim Conway and…wait for it…KISS (who perform 3 songs because we guess the writers ran out of corny jokes)!

Hunter also reviews a fun Halloween read, Creature Feature, by Steven Paul Leiva (you can get it on Amazon and Jack recommends – Monster Carnival, an anthology of classic and rare tales of horror collected and edited by William P. Simmons.
