4. BONUS Episode on the WGA Strike and our Mental Health

4. BONUS Episode on the WGA Strike and our Mental Health

Season 4 is officially starting up again in a few short weeks, but I felt it was really important to have a mini bonus episode about the WGA strike and the pending SAG strike and what it might be doing to our mental health. I know I have been spiraling about the state of the industry and I remind everyone (and myself) that this situation is temporary, that our feelings of overwhelm should be acknowledged but not given the reigns, and what we can do to help us when we are feeling hopeless about AI, never working again, etc. We are all in this together.

SAG members vote YES on the strike authorization. Vote by June 5th HERE.

Information about the WGA strike and how to join the picket lines!

3.03 Mental Health & Relationships: Dealing with Grief

This week I dive into grief and what we can do to cope with the loss of a loved one, especially during the holidays. Grief is never easy, but it seems to get exacerbated especially in times when we feel that we are *supposed* to be happy. I dive into some of the ways we can cope with these feelings and remind ourselves that our grief is our own, we experience it in different ways, and that grief comes in waves. Whatever you are feeling today is not what you will feel tomorrow. As always, I am here to share space with here, hear your stories, and walk beside you in your own mental health journey.

Always inspired and enamored with my friend Sara Tomko who joined us for this podcast this episode. Sara Tomko is an entertainment artist & mental health advocate living in LA.  She has been acting in film and television since 2007.  Her roles include guest stars on Once Upon A Time, Sneaky Pete, and The Leftovers.  Her most recent success is playing the Series Regular role of Asta in Resident Alien on SyFy. You can find her on Instagram @saratomko19 & Twitter @actressaratomko to keep up with her work. 2.01 - Lianna Nielsen: The connection between our gut health and mental health

Welcome back to season 2 of the More Than You See Podcast! I am so excited to have some incredible conversations this season with different actors, filmmakers, nutritionists etc that will open your mind to a whole new side of mental health. I am sure every episode will provide you with a different point of view and resources to help you with your own wellbeing. We start this season with Lianna Nielsen who discussed the direct correlation between gut health and mental health.
Learn more about Lianna
Lianna Nielsen is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach certified through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, with specializations in both gut and hormone health. She has a B.A. from the George Washington University and also studied personal leadership and development coaching under Kathleen Schaefer, founder of the Human Being Store. Lianna was inspired to become a health coach through her own healing journey. In her 20’s she developed an undiagnosable autoimmune condition. After seeing countless unhelpful doctors, which inspired lots of her own research, she discovered she could heal her body through food and lifestyle interventions. Lianna combines both her health coaching and leadership and development training with her own healing journey to teach people to listen and connect more deeply to their own bodies, creating health, vitality and clarity. She has a holistic approach to nutrition and strives to create balance in both physical and mental health, which leads to alignment in all other areas of life.
