In this episode I’m chatting with Kiki Slaughter and Abby Kasonik, established contemporary artists who recently collaborated on a line of sculptural lighting available on 1st Dibs. Both have roots in Charlottesville, Virginia, and made names for themselves as abstract painters before moving into design projects as well- Abby with sculptural lamps, mirrors, and other objects, and Kiki with wall coverings and textiles. The result of their collaboration is a set of beautiful, playful but sophisticated lighting that creates an incredible statement. Both women are mothers to elementary-aged children, and share how they’ve balanced their creative careers with family life.
