Although he was blind, he recognized what others around him could not, and his faith in Jesus cured his blindness. We are all blind to the divine at times. Do we have enough faith and courage to cry out to God like the blind man did and ask to be saved?

Out of all of God’s creation, human beings are the only ones “created in the image and likeness of God (Gen 1:26).” He created us out of dust and we were made to breathe “the breath of life (Gen 2:7) and to have dominion over all God has made.

Today’s message is: Sometimes, you have to lose yourself to find yourself.

In Today's epistle to the Galatians (2:20), Paul writes “I have been crucified with Christ. True, I am alive; but it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. The life that I am now living, although it is still in the flesh, is a life which is lived in faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” 

Similarly in today’s Gospel according to Mark (8:36), Jesus says, “Whoever seeks to save his life shall lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake and for the sake of the gospel shall save it.” 

This episode explores the Christian paradox of how a loss can actually be a gain. Sometimes, you have to lose who you thought you were to find who you really are.
