EP 057 Creating Equity and Accessibility
I often share about the logistics and behind the scenes experience of working as a self-employed psychedelic life coach in the medicine space. This episode is dedicated to letting you in on how I am shifting my business toward creating equity and accessibility. I have avoided this area for a long time because I wasn't sure how to do it. I was afraid of doing it wrong, of still excluding people, and of being judged for anything I attempted in this realm. What I have realized is that healing cannot exist without attention to equity and accessibility. If it's not open to everyone, it's not really the service I want to offer deep in my heart. At least that's how I feel about my work. Starting today, I am shifting my pricing model to sliding scale, and releasing two digital courses for self-study DIY work you can do all on your own.
I want to live at the intersection of financial abundance and safety for myself and my family, AND serving at a level that feels within reach for more than just folks with economic privilege. I know this isn't perfect, and I am grateful to be taking my first steps to find resonance. Fairness. And to open the way for more people to access my work in a way that supports you. Thanks for listening and being part of my spirit family.

EP 056 | Remembering Your Sovereignty with Maitreya Wolf, Evolutionary Mentor
Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, Sinclair interviews Maitreya Wolf, evolutionary soul mentor and founder of Soul Power Mentoring. Maitreya is a wise woman, musician, mystic, earth lover, and movement artist. Her deepest allegiance is to the spiritual power of Beauty, the wild earth, freedom and sovereignty for all life, and the life of Soul.
Maitreya grew up in Boston, enjoying a life of urban artistic culture and progressive education, while spending her summers riding horses in the outback of the Arizona desert. A natural artist, she later spent many years doing ritualized tattoo work, recreating rites of passage with people that have been stripped from our social fabric. Maitreya is a singer and professional musician, and offers concerts in a ritual format, making space for her haunting and soul-moving music to deeply affect and touch the audience members.
Maitreya has cultivated a diverse and omni-dimensional skill set, weaving embodied wisdom, and an expansive, dynamic insight into the beautiful (and sometimes harrowing) human experience. It is this unique and extraordinary lens through which she lives and teaches. Through her earth-and-soul centered evolutionary mentoring practice, Soul Power Mentoring, she helps people learn how to transform pain into power so that they can live lives of greater connection and purpose in this most extraordinary time of human and planetary transformation.

EP 055 | The Art of Appreciation
The art of appreciation is a powerful practice you can use to elevate your vibration and lift your mood out of the gutter. But it's often a lot more difficult than it sounds. When you feel stuck in lack, like you don't have control over anything, and nothing seems to be going your way, how do you just decide to be grateful and appreciate everything around you? Today's episode digs into the stuckness that we all feel sometimes, and offers you 3 questions to ask so that you can shift into a more beneficial mindset full of appreciation and bounty.

EP 054 | Accessing Your Inner Healer with Heather Shelton, Cannabis Nurse Herbalist
Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, Sinclair interviews Heather Shelton, RN, BSA founder of Herbsong Farm, and a registered nurse herbalist who has worked with botanical medicine for over two decades. She came to plant medicine in desperation to save her life, having tried everything Western medicine had to offer. She suffered from significant depression for several years, with persistent anxiety on the side to boot. What she found was way more than treatment – it was a path back to herself, and an open door to all she could ever have hoped life could be.
Heather blends her intuitive plant wisdom and traditional nursing experience to offer a unique holistic approach to care. She supports people on their health journeys using herbs, cannabis, nutrition, and lifestyle changes. Heather also offers an online herbal apprenticeship, and has spoken about cannabis and psychedelics at many conferences around the country. She is currently an instructor for psilocybin facilitators in Oregon, a member of United Plant Savers, the International Association of Psychedelic Nurses, the Cannabis Nurses Network, and the American Cannabis Nurse Association, where she serves on multiple committees.

EP 053 | There's No Such Thing as a Bad Trip
Here’s a controversial statement…There’s no such thing as a bad trip. Some people find this super triggering. But what if the hardest, most difficult psychedelic experiences are the portal to your deepest expansion? The hard time is a gift. And it’s how we grow our wings and learn to fly. In medicine experiences, and in life. There’s nothing you can’t handle when you learn how to change your perspective to one of gratitude and willingness rather than victimhood. Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast I am exploring how you can shift a bad trip into a catalyst for transformation that will change your life forever.

EP 052 | How to Be Your Authentic Self
You might be thinking, "Do you really need instruction on how to be your authentic self?" Well, that depends on where you are with your growth and expansion. How willing are you to deconstruct what it means to be YOU? How open are you to the possibility that YOU is ever evolving, ever changing, and that you come from a spiritual place of origin? That You are the light. That you don't need to do anything complicated to be yourself. You just need to listen to what is already there. Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast I am sharing six simple steps to call in more authenticity, connect to your highest self, and be the most YOU that ever lived.
In this episode, Sinclair shares about:
Recognizing that the “YOU” that you associate as being is a collection of agreements, experiences, stories, and memories. There really is no static you. You are always evolving and growing. At least some of your personality is a collection of trauma responses, habits, and learned behaviors that run on auto-pilot How we get indoctrinated to behave and perform for love as children How we get contained (being told we are too loud, talk too much, don't pay attention right, need to control ourselves, be quiet, be good, please adults with our docility and agreeableness) Seeking external validation, wanting approval and love from outside yourself Connecting to the real YOU - the highest self, the inner being, the divine light bearer… this is your essence. And your essence is love. Light. This is Universal. Receiving the answers that you are capable of holding in this moment Finding your soul mission as a spiritual quest Choosing to incarnate, being hip to where your spirit wants to be and evolve as part of ALL THAT IS Becoming a witness to your patterns and self-sabotaging behaviors Being a goddess walking, celebrating spiritual opulence Receiving the transmission of YOU, pure love, pure power, pure presence Taking medicine means you are asking for MORE - power, responsibility, healing The privilege of sitting with psychedelics, learning from these ancient teachers Removing the obstacles that prevent you from being yourself You don't need to be different. You already have everything that you need. You only need to let everything fall away that doesn't resonate with who you are. Taking in the weight of the world, seeing humans as bad or wrong, being angry at society Unfettered economic growth in a finite system will collapse the system Radical acceptance of where we are and taking responsibility for our own participation in this system Making better choices about how you are participating in the system Holding the weight of the world on your shoulders is an obstacle Letting go of the not good enough wound Worrying and anxiety are obstacles that steal your energy Healing your ancestors in the past and future Starting form a clean slate, quitting what doesn't resonate Cultivating your wild, childlike capacity for wonder The wonder of spring in Asheville, North Carolina, seeing nature come alive Be curious, have fun, finding out what you love to do, trying new things Stop giving a fuck about what people think Turning people off is the jam You are a special kind of vibe Put your attention and resources toward what you want, how you want to fee, what you want to experience Erase should from your vocabulary Plugging up energy and time and money leaks Trust yourself to be yourself - one moment at a time Reconnecting to your soft, animal nature Take off the mask, really be yourself and see what happens

This is the ultimate lesson from both psychedelics and psychedelic integration. What do you do when the Universe hands you a cosmic bitchslap? EP 048 | Living with Integrity
What does living with integrity mean when you are on a spiritual journey with psychedelics? Integrity is the divine practice of unification. Of wholeness. Of reconnecting your disenfranchised parts and bringing them together in oneness and unity. If you feel drawn to plant medicine and psychedelics as a way to remember your true nature of peace and ease, finding a path to walk through your life with integrity can help get you there. Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast I am sharing about the four aspects of living with integrity within yourself and aligning your life with a path of authenticity, self trust, and spirituality.
In this episode, Sinclair shares about:
What is the definition of integrity and why should you care? Unification of all of your parts body, heart, mind, and spirit Living out of integrity is living outside of your true nature, acting against yourself Recognizing when you are out of integrity with yourself Shedding the ways of being that are not serving you When problems are symptoms and coping mechanisms Self-forgiveness and gentleness as a path to coming home to yourself Feeling ashamed, angry, exhausted, and lost Rupture is how you find repair, going through the darkness is how you find the path of the light Bringing plant medicine and psychedelics on as healing partners that teach you how to be a dimension walker Being out of integrity is part of the journey, you have to have this to learn You don't have to control everything The four parts of integrity and reunifying your holistic being Start with the body, moving your body in a joyful way Creating safety in your nervous system Coming to know the boundaries of your body and your energy Releasing what doesn't serve you Coming into alignment with your heart, your emotional body Not feeling safe to feel your feelings or ask for what you need How I stay in integrity with the podcast Collaboration over competition Going against your heart for a quick gain Being the tortoise, slow and steady, allows you to open to your intuition and feel what is right for you Bringing the mind into integrity through confronting your limiting beliefs and knowing that you don't have to get attached to the stories You get to decide what you believe, you get to decide what your values are The loving and benevolent Universe that has your best interest and expansion at heart The spiritual connection and path is truly the only way to true self-integrity Connecting with God through Nature Plant medicine as a path to coming back into integrity in yourself Healing the collective Becoming whole, accepting yourself, trusting yourself Leaning on your spiritual path during the hardest times in your lifeGet a FREE coaching session and learn more about Rise and Align

In this episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast I am sharing about breaking up with diet culture and finding home within yourself through psychedelic integration. We’ll dive into body image, binge eating, the cycle of restriction and control, and where it all comes from – so you can reclaim your power and heal your relationship with food once and for all.

EP 043 | Reconnecting, Receiving, and Rest
Are you tired? Like yes, of course you're tired, but I mean ARE YOU TIRED? Exhausted by the onslaught of doing and going and expressing and running around trying to make sense of this world that is on fast forward?
Nervous system dysregulation, overwhelm, burnout, anxiety. Not feeling present for your life. These are just some of the symptoms of being chronically overstimulated, disconnected, and stuck in output mode. And while we've come to think of this as just how it is in modern life, it's actually not your natural state to be fried and wired and constantly doing. When it doesn't feel safe to rest, how can you retrain your brain and nervous system to crave stillness and calm? If you feel drawn to plant medicine and psychedelics as a way to reconnect to your true nature of peace and ease, you're not alone. Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast I am sharing about reconnecting, receiving, and rest, and how these divinely feminine states of slowing down are crucial to creating a different world.

EP 042 | How to Stop Being a Control Freak
Raise your hand if you need things to be a certain way. If it would just be better if you did everything yourself. If you micromanage yourself and everyone around you. If you don't really trust other people to meet your expectations. If you feel resentful and angry that no one does anything quite up to your standards. Including you. Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast I am diving into how to stop being a control freak so that you can be present and enjoy your life. No judgment. No shame. Only gentle, compassionate understanding of all the ways you try to create safety and protection through attachment and control. And how psychedelics help you unwind this habit energy and shift it into something more chill and beneficial.
In this episode, Sinclair talks about:
Control freakiness and attachment to specific outcomes Identifying your less ideal habit energies with compassion Creating safety and protection for yourself to survive The origins of micromanaging and the need to control What taking control and attachment to outcomes can look like Mind-reading and anticipation of someone's needs keeping you from really listening Not trusting yourself and not trusting others Teaching people in your life that you don't want help Hyper-independence is highly valued No one does it alone Recognizing your privilege The glorification of the individual and the ego How is this good for me? vs. how is this good for the collective? We don't have control over anything anyway Freaking out when you have to compromise Being unable to feel joy, gratitude, being present Care less, lower your expectations, doing the bare minimum, and giving less fucks The illusion of control is a distraction, a way we keep ourselves busy Having unreasonable expectations gives you a carrot to chase that you will never catch Letting go of everything that I think I need to do to "be healthy" Listening to your body, asking it what it needs "If I don't have it like this, then...." A control freak is actually a leader in training Doing deep work in yourself and spreading that out in the world as a spiritual leader Leaning into gratitude, appreciation, and joy Stop trying to fix everything, because nothing needs to be fixed Witnessing yourself without judgment, accepting yourself The magic of deep rest Shame is the joy killer Remedies to help you let go and trust yourselfRESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:

EP 041 | Breathwork and Psychedelic Integration with Jonathan Schecter of Blue Magic Alchemy
In this episode, Sinclair interviews Jonathan Schecter, Certified Breathwork Facilitator and Psychedelic Integration Coach and founder of Blue Magic Alchemy. He works with men to help them find clarity and unlock lasting change in their work with mushrooms and plant medicine. The methods he uses in coaching are the same ones he’s used to transform his own life.
Coming into coaching was one result of coming out of an abusive marriage where he was left feeling lost, stuck and unhappy. Within this dark night of the soul, and during a deep exploration of self, he discovered breathwork, and started prioritizing the integration process as much as the time he was spending within the ceremony space.
Looking inward and asking himself what could have helped at the beginning of his own journey led Jonathan into service as an integration coach. He became a certified breathwork facilitator, and launched The Vital Point podcast which centers on different methods and practices for personal transformation and growth.

EP 040 | Radical Self-Acceptance
What is radical self-acceptance? Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast we are exploring the concept of embracing yourself fully. Exactly where you are, how you are. Right now. Radical self-acceptance is a psychedelic integration strategy you can use to turn life from a struggle and a fight into a compassionate, enjoyable way of being. But first, you have to sit in the authenticity of your true nature. And as usual, plant medicine can guide you there.
In this episode, Sinclair and John share about:
Acceptance, surrender, and self-love are the keys to unlocking your true nature Sinclair first encountering radical self-acceptance at Burning Man The chronic feeling of not-good-enoughness How we onboard conformity, changing yourself to be like everyone else Leaning into how you naturally are, re-learning and remembering who you really are The ecosystem of diversity, the more we are individually different and cohesive, the more success we are going to have Laying down the struggle of trying to change yourself and accepting yourself exactly as you are How we get stuck in the victim mentality after experiencing trauma Allowing your trauma to be there without judgment Plant medicine helps you raise out of your ego and gives you a choice to change your perspective What if instead of changing yourself, you love the body that you have? What if you could choose to love yourself RIGHT NOW? You get to decide what's beautiful, you get to decide what matters to you When the pain is too big for you to feel it, and you create other pain through numbing behaviors -- this is protective When you are struggling, you need more love, not less What is the difference between self-acceptance and self-love? Unlocking your soul mission with plant medicine Healing and alchemizing trauma and struggle into magic and light The "shoulds" and forcing yourself to do things in a way that goes against what you need You can accept yourself right now, exactly as you are Learning how to express at your highest octave starts with self-acceptance Start where you are Giving yourself permission to trust where you are and feel your feelings Bringing your attention to what doesn't feel good and welcoming it, inviting it in Being soft to yourself, inviting the difficult thing in Investing time, energy, and money into finding out who you really are Limiting beliefs and reasons why you can't do the work (money, time, etc.) Valuing yourself, your health, and your life experience Wasting time staying stuck in old patterns How personal work helps your relationships and heals the collective Taking care of yourself is a radical actRESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:

EP 038 | Shifting Beliefs About Money and Abundance
In this episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, Sinclair is digging into shifting beliefs about money and abundance. Money is like Fight Club. The first rule is YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT MONEY. (GASP! *pearl clutch*)
Money is such a fear-filled, scarce, uncomfortable subject – especially for spiritual folks with big open hearts. Today I'm throwing down some real talk about breaking your blocks around money, and how this is CRUCIAL work on your path of spirituality, psychedelic integration, and being in service.
Because for a lot of us, it is scary. It's stressful. It's some mystery that you can't understand, that rules your life in ways you don't like. It determines where you can live, what work you do, the kind of healthcare you get, the car you drive, and the quality of life you get to have. We are told that Money = Happiness. But plant medicine will start pulling on that thread and unraveling it until you confront this programming, and start asking yourself what you actually value. What really makes you happy? What if abundance isn't about money at all? What if it's actually safe and spiritual to have money? What would your world look like if you stopped fighting with money and started looking at it as a friend? A magical energy that you can attract and connect with, so that you can open yourself to the Spiritual Opulence that you deserve.

EP 037 | People Pleasing, Empathy, and Boundaries
What are some common personality traits that people with anxiety, chronic pain, and chronic illness share? You guessed it... People pleasing, empathy without boundaries, perfectionism, self-sacrifice, low self-worth, and more. Turns out taking on stuff that isn't yours and seeking validation and worth outside yourself can manifest as all kinds of illnesses and coping behaviors over time. Plus, it doesn't feel good to always put your needs behind someone else's. You deserve to feel safe and whole within yourself, and these are simply ways that we learn to protect ourselves, cope, and exist in the world. Working with psychedelics can help you to see these in yourself, and find your way into more self-confidence and self-love.
In today's episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, Sinclair is digging into empathy, people pleasing, boundaries, codependency and more. We'll talk about how these protective behaviors develop and what the path to freedom looks like. It's time to normalize our trauma response so that we can arrive in a place of compassion and healing rather than shame and disappointment. Looking into yourself and offering love to whatever you find there is all part of the path of healing with plant medicines.

EP 036 | How to Heal Chronic Pain with Plant Medicine
Chronic pain. If you have suffered with this or any other chronic or relapsing illness, these words send shivers through your body because, let's be honest. This shit SUCKS. Chronic pain is debilitating. It steals your joy, your attention, and your life. It takes your identity and makes your world close in, leaving you feeling hopeless and alone. It can make you question everything you thought you believed, and shake you to your core. Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, Sinclair is sharing how to heal chronic pain with plant medicine, and taking you through her own intimate story of how integration work gave her back her life.
For Sinclair, chronic pain has been a companion of her adulthood since as far back as she can remember. She has suffered with migraines with aura, excruciating back pain, IBS, bloating, constipation, all manner of digestive issues, reproductive problems, pain, numbness, tingling, sciatica, extreme anxiety, heart palpitations, chronic fatigue, and more. At several points thinking she was developing the symptoms of MS, fibromyalgia, or another unknown autoimmune disorder or neurological disease. She tried every medical solution, from physical therapy, chiropractors, inversion tables, massage, dry needling, pharmaceuticals, supplements, and more.
This story details her path from illness onset to pain free life, and how she worked with plant medicine to overcome this huge obstacle and learned to enjoy her life again.

EP 035 | Surrender: Your Secret Psychedelic Superpower
Did you know that surrender is your secret psychedelic superpower? Find out how this secret skill is actually one of the most important strategies you can learn on the plant medicine path. Practicing surrender starts before you ever sit in a ceremony, as you learn to release your expectations, and open yourself to a new way of life that is better than anything you could have imagined. Surrender as a spiritual practice goes far beyond getting through a psychedelic experience, and grows exponentially helpful as a tool you can use throughout your entire life in literally every situation! It's such a versatile and beautiful way to relate to yourself and the world around you. Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we are talking all about surrender, your secret psychedelic superpower, and how you can use it right now to bring more peace, happiness, and joy into your life.

EP 034 | Chris Lamanna, Plant Medicine Facilitator
Chris Lamanna is a plant medicine facilitator, somatic practitioner, and good friend of ours who we had the honor of getting to know and work alongside as managers of an ayahuasca retreat center in Ecuador.
Chris discovered psychedelics and entheogens after a somewhat troubled youth that persisted into early adulthood. After a handful of profound psychedelic experiences both heavenly and hellish, he found his way to the Peruvian jungle to drink Ayahuasca.
In today's episode, Chris shares about overcoming a traumatic event with mushrooms where he was assaulted by police and left to spend the rest of his trip in the hospital. Ultimately, it was this experience that awakened him to the possibilities of healing and growth with medicines. And led him on a lifelong quest to connect with the traditions and teachings that give true power to plant medicine work.
Since that first ceremony, he has spent a considerable amount of time exploring psychedelics, plant medicines and indigenous healing practices in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, as well as his home in Detroit, Michigan. Chris also studies traditions and practices from a variety of other sources from around the world. He is a true spiritual seeker on an ever expanding path of growth and learning as a facilitator and psychedelic visionary. His hope is to be a resource for others on the path of healing and self-exploration.

EP 033 | 7 Benefits of Psychedelic Integration Coaching
Why should you care about putting time, energy, and money into a psychedelic integration coaching relationship? Can’t you just do it all on your own? Do you even want to? In this week's episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're sharing 7 benefits of psychedelic integration coaching. Dig in with us to learn how aligning your medicine path with a coach can make the crucial difference between feeling supported to make the transformations you want manifest, and taking medicine again and again with no tangible changes or movement in your life.
Coaching is like a psychedelic apprenticeship. There's a lot to learn, and it's not easy to figure it out all on your own. A coach has cultivated an intimate relationship with the medicine path. They have gained knowledge and expertise, and know how to share their wisdom with you so that you are guided to connect to the deep wisdom you have inside yourself.
In this episode, John and Sinclair share about:
What is coaching? A relationship with an instructor, guide and expert who has been on the path and has the knowledge and expertise to help you on your journey Why coaching? Is it legit? Shifting from skepticism to embrace the coaching model for psychedelics Why coaching vs. therapy? Therapy is typically focused on diagnosis and healing a psychological condition Coaching helps empower you to unlock the answers that you already have within you Coaching and therapy are friends, but they are different - coaching is a collaborative, non-diagnostic healing partnership Plant medicine gets you in touch with your Spirit, psychedelic coaching helps you make the connection last What are the 7 Benefits of Working with a Psychedelic Integration Coach?1. Expertise, experience, and knowledge - having someone as your teacher and guide who is walking the walk in their own life, you want an expert who has been in and out, back and forth, and knows this path2. Commitment - Here you get motivation, inspiration, support, and accountability - putting your time, energy, and money into a coaching container greatly increases your odds of transformation. Walking with someone who has done this work themselves assures you and insures you that what you want is possible and you can trust the process.
3. Community - plugging into a medicine community, connecting with a spiritual family. Watching someone be strong when they are going through it, seeing their power when they are facing their shadow creates an energy vortex that lifts everyone up. Find your tribe!
4. Support and a path to follow - this is the HOW…Learning how to use your internal compass and guidance system. You already have everything you need, we help you discover it and practice using it.
5. Trust yourself and your intuition - Asking for and receiving help. This is clarity. This is discernment. Getting in receiving mode. Working on yourself is the best investment you can make for any dream or goal.
6. Make your entire life a ceremony. We invite you to expand the connection and feeling you have with Source to permeate and fill your life in every way.
7. It’s FUN! Doing this work requires a sense of humor. The mess is the process. Not hiding and having fun with it is such a relief! Joy and rainbows make it all easier and worth it. Joy, peace, and fun are your natural state.

EP 032 | TRUE CLIENT STORY: Anxiety, Overworking, and Healing Food and Body Image Issues with Nicole
In our first TRUE CLIENT STORY series episode, we are sharing the remarkable transformation journey of Nicole Rigo. Nicole is a high-achieving registered nurse who recently initiated her plant medicine integration odyssey with psilocybin mushrooms earlier this year as a client in our Rise and Align coaching program. Facing chronic health issues that were being worsened by overworking, and feeling isolated and disconnected after Covid lockdown, Nicole began to have a blossoming suspicion that there must be more to life than rampant anxiety and dread. (Spoiler alert, there is MUCH more!) She began to feel called to work with plant medicine so that she could begin healing food and body image issues. Today Nicole is sharing about how she is working with medicine to make peace with herself, be present, and enjoy her life. By day, Nicole works as a registered nurse, but in real life, she is a beekeeper, wild food forager, and sea nymph cavorting along the Carolina coast. We love working with Nicole and seeing her powerful metamorphosis, and she's just getting started!

EP 031 | The Easy Magic of Meditation
Can we talk about the easy magic of meditation? If you don't vibe with meditation, you might be thinking "Great. Meditation. AGAIN. When will people stop trying to force me to meditate?!?" Meditation is the practice people love to hate. And yet, out of everything we do and try and teach and share... Meditation is the base of the pyramid. It's the launchpad for everything we teach in our psychedelic integration containers. It's HOW we do literally everything in our own personal spiritual journeys. It is the way to stay connected to Source, and it is so NOT HARD!
If spirituality were a pizza, meditation would be the New York thin crust. What are you going to do with all those toppings without the CRUST?!? There's no delivery system. That's just a gloppy mess. And spirituality doesn't have to make you feel like you're stuck with a pile of toppings and no crust.
Meditation asks you to sit with your overactive mind and watch it. It nudges you into presence. It leads you into paying attention to and being in your body. Learning how to self-regulate with your breath. It shows you the way into a the role of being in charge of yourself and your attention. It enables you to put down all the distractions and be here now. It invites you to actually practice the presence you need to BE how you like to be in the world. As your aligned self.
We challenge anyone who believes that you can't meditate to give this episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast a listen and maybe let it be easy and give it another try! We'd love to hear how it goes, you can connect with us here: https://mysticalheartcollective.com/contact

EP 030 | USMC Veteran Ray Murphy, Founder of Warriors Healing Network on Healing C-PTSD with Ayahuasca
It might surprise you to learn that more and more military combat veterans are looking to psychedelics and plant medicines for help. For a lot of vets, returning into society is the beginning of a long and arduous process of coming back home to themselves. In one major study of 60,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, 13.5% of deployed and non-deployed veterans screened positive for PTSD, while other studies show the rate to be as high as 20% to 30%. As many as 500,000 U.S. troops who served in these wars over the past 13 years have been diagnosed with PTSD.
PTSD, C-PTSD, and other life-threatening mental health issues, including addiction, depression, anxiety, and suicide have been the result for military and police men and women serving in combat zones, and under dangerous working conditions as part of their jobs. This week on the podcast, we are speaking with USMC Veteran Ray Murphy, Founder of Warriors Healing Network. Ray is a U.S. Marine Veteran who served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and has since worked extensively as a consultant for law enforcement as a K9 unit trainer.
Ray has firsthand experience with C-PTSD and the shortfalls of finding treatment and relief inside the system, especially through the VA. Earlier this year, Ray attended a plant medicine retreat in Costa Rica where he worked with ayahuasca in ceremony, and found it to be an effective treatment for PTSD in his own life. This healing experience led him to found Warriors Healing Network, a nonprofit organization that helps facilitate psychedelic treatment for combat veterans and police officers who have been diagnosed with PTSD and need financial support to access medicine.
In this episode, Ray shares about his own personal experience with PTSD as a military veteran, his many failed treatment attempts through traditional healthcare, and finally feeling called to experience ayahuasca for himself, which led to healing his PTSD. We talk about the hardships of being in military and police service, and how the traditional system is leaving people behind, which is why psychedelics are so promising as a treatment for this specific population.

EP 029 | It's OK Not to Be OK
Here at The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we pride ourselves on being open, honest, and vulnerable about the struggles and experiences we have integrating and living life on the plant medicine path. In this work, you have to learn that it's ok not to be ok. It's safe to feel, to lean into difficult places, and that this is all part of the healing and expansion process. Today on the podcast, John shares his personal experience about letting go, releasing control, and surrendering to what is.
Spiritual service doesn’t mean you get to fly high and glide above problems and tough times. In this episode, you will hear an inside picture of what John has been experiencing in his own personal process. Some of you may know that earlier this year, he completed his 7 day vision quest in Ecuador. This experience opens the door to willingness, and since that time, he has been coming up into willingness over and over in daily life.
The truth is that plant medicine and spiritual work have many peaks, and many valleys. You hear a lot about the peaks, and not as much about walking through the deep jungle valleys of your own emotional and spiritual process. These valleys can become very familiar, and in fact if you are wanting to be in service, you will be asked to learn the way out of the darker parts of yourself like the back of your hand.
You will continue finding the same lessons in different forms until you learn what you need to learn from it. Medicine will make you more sensitive to your feelings. Your hard feelings feel more intense, and you will become skilled at leaning into them. Sit with it. Feel it. And sometime in the process of doing that, the shifts will transmute the energy into something else. It's OK not to be OK, and sometimes that is exactly what you need.
Does this resonate with you? If so, we’d love to invite you to learn more about Rise and Align, our 1:1 PLANT MEDICINE TRANSFORMATION MENTORSHIP where you’ll learn exactly how to identify the root causes of your energetic blocks and self-sabotaging behaviors so that you can stop judging and being hard on yourself and trust yourself and your intuition instead.

EP 028 | Confronting Your Inner Critic
"I have a harsh inner critic." This is one of the most common challenges we hear from clients coming to work with us in our plant medicine integration programs. A savage inner critic is not just painful to live with, being super hard on yourself can manifest in the body as illness. So many of our most prevalent and mysterious health problems have roots in the mind-body connection. Many people suffering from chronic pain, stress illnesses, fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and more, all have something in common... a brutal self-critical voice, perfectionistic thoughts and needing to be seen as a good person. It's no wonder putting all this pressure on yourself to be perfect is taking a toll. In this episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, you'll learn about confronting your inner critic with psychedelics so that you can transform this negative habit energy into a powerful ally for change.
Join John and Sinclair as they share about:
What is criticism? How does it manifest outwardly and inwardly? The inner critic is the critical mind, your inner bully that is hard on you, puts pressure on you, and makes you feel like crap Shame! The second arrow of criticism! Criticism is programming, it’s all gathered behaviors and habits that we all have The way criticism and agreements get passed down through generations Original sin and being born broken, programming from institutions, governments, society at large The American dream is a program that creates self-critical people who are easy to sell things to None of this is your fault, we all have this, we are all hard on ourselves at some times Sexual shame and connecting that to the criticism program, internalizing the shame They don’t have to keep telling you that you’re terrible, you become the police on yourself Becoming aware that the thoughts and voices are not YOU The power of psychedelic medicines to give you the felt experience of the separation between your SOUL and your thoughts or ego Sinking into the core of yourself with plant medicines allows you to see things as they truly are, from an objective place of being a witness and observer The gift of psychedelics is the ability to step outside the symptom, step outside of identifying with the criticism Medicines give you awareness, this is such a HUGE DEAL Criticism is an opportunity, it’s a messenger. It’s a tool you can use to change how you’re behaving, to change how you’re talking to yourself, you can flip it to something helpful and useful The journey with the plants is about raising our consciousness, bringing more conscious choice into everything we do Changing your actions leads to a better life, you start healing your emotions, healing trauma, clearing out backlogs Loving the criticism, be loving and present with it, be kind to it Medicine helps you create a new story Instead of blaming and criticizing everyone else, we all need to look and turn that pointing finger toward yourself We all have the power to take responsibility for our own actions and how we are in the world You can’t really solve the problem without being fully immersed in the problem, you have to get all the way in it Having support through this process is crucial to make real changes that last Getting to the bottom is the weakest moment and that’s where you gather your power Action, support, and community are the three pillars of making changes in your life Why long term integration support is so important to helping you after a ceremony or retreat Integration work is the path back to yourself, remembering yourself It’s taking away and aligning with you you really are, connecting to love
EP 027 | The Ugly Truth About Stress
The ugly truth about stress is that everyone hates it and it’s making us sick in a serious way. Stress looks different for everyone, and in this episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we are painting a picture of modern life that feels like treading water, where everything is about to go under. So many of our clients report feeling exhausted, angry, depressed, anxious, and under resourced to handle daily life. Put simply, stress is physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension. This daily struggle inside is seriously taxing the spiritual life that so many people long to experience. We’re stressed and we don’t know how to handle it. Sacred plant medicines and psychedelics are calling more and more people toward living life in a different way, and they can teach you ways to manage stress so that you feel at ease and healthy instead of overwhelmed and frustrated.
In this episode, Sinclair and John share about:
A day in the life of almost everyone in modern life, plugged into The Matrix- going nonstop, on autopilot, living out of obligation instead of living in your soul purpose How negative stress manifests as burnout, overwork, anger, irritability, poor connection and relationships Modern life can feel like a trap that you can’t get out of due to so many obligations How you can work with plant medicine to change how you deal with stress, and change your life circumstances on the way Stress is pressure that puts you out of balance, creates tension, and starts ringing the alarm bells to get your attention that something needs to change Getting sick = now you’re paying attention, by the time it reaches the physical body, you’ve ignored the signs for a long time Opening yourself to a new way of understanding how illness is created and manifested, from the consciousness to the body The collective is burned out and stressed out, we are literally burning out the planet Whatever is going on with us internally and individually is what is showing up in our institutions The calling of the plants and psychedelics is to taking responsibility individually so that we can heal ourselves and the whole Negative stress vs. positive stress You have the power to create a positive story from stress that fortifies your vibration and enhances your well being With stress, you are telling yourself a story - I don’t have what I need… The stress is not the problem, how you deal with it is the problem People want plant medicine to solve the problem, and the plants show you that you are doing it to yourself How to recharge your batteries Investing in yourself - time, energy, and money Unplugging the stereo of your stress and going to a retreat, then coming home and plugging it right back in Why it’s cool to be high maintenance and have a spiritual practice How much medicine is too much? Why integration is the only way to make changes stick, no matter how much medicine you use Using medicine to break through to another level, sharpen the tool, and hold space for yourself inside your process A healthy foundation means a healthy physical body, with good habits and prioritizing yourself, your sleep, your health, and your wellness Health and wellness is a lifestyle, too blessed to be stressed is a lifestyle You have the power to decide and choose to change your story , to change your mind, your perspective, your consciousness Doing whatever it takes to change your channel to a feel good channel that supports youInterested in working with us? EP 026 | How to Trust the Universe, Change Your Beliefs, and Find Faith
Shifting into a mindset of trust and faith, and working on your beliefs and… *gasp* …even changing them and creating ones that are more beneficial — this is the long term integration work of plant medicine and psychedelics. In this episode, we will dive into the mechanics of how to trust the Universe, change your beliefs, and find faith, even if you think all this spiritual stuff is mumbo jumbo. Finding faith and changing beliefs with plant medicine might seem impossible, but it is truly the path to finding deep meaning and living a purpose filled life. You have the power to decide what you believe and plant medicine can help you find your own soul and connect to a benevolent creator that is always on your side.
In this episode, John and Sinclair dig into:
The definition of belief, where we get our beliefs, how they form as we grow up How your beliefs determine your actions and your values Limiting beliefs and core beliefs What you believe is what’s true for you, the belief system you hold determines the reality you live in If belief creates your reality, then you can choose your own destiny The process of psychedelic integration is unearthing the core beliefs and limiting beliefs and examining them, and choosing what you want to believe in instead The more you align yourself with Reality and Truth (as it actually is), the better life feels Being willing to admit you’re wrong, being open to change your mind The medicines show you a spectrum of belief, a bigger picture understanding of how the universe operates The science of belief is self-evident The placebo effect is a big deal, it’s the validation of thought and belief having the power to heal you Healing chronic pain through changing belief and thought patterns Mastering the use of your mind, believing something is true, and bringing it into your life because your mind and your thoughts are influencing your cells and your beliefs determine what is happening in your body Your beliefs influence everything you see and experience, both internally and externally Finding faith through working with plant medicines Switching from atheism to a spiritual view of the world, having faith in a power greater than ourselves John shares his story of rejecting Catholicism and accepting atheism through scientific reductionism taught in schools Sinclair onboarding the Christian worldview of “I’m bad, I’m a sinner, I’m going to burn in hell…” Rejecting organized religion, rejecting the patriarchy, and choosing atheism as a rebellious stance of empowerment against a broken system Atheism and politics as superiority and judgement of the other and how that feels terrible Coming to plant medicines looking for purpose and meaning, to change the affects of this belief or lack of faith Opening a little at a time to a new way of thinking, a new belief system is how to get there Finding curiosity to saying what if I’m wrong? Questioning everything, walking away from everything that wasn’t serving me Finding the felt experience of god through the psychedelic experience can help us shift into trusting that the Universe has my back Trusting that everything is working out makes them work out You’re worthy, you’re a being of light, you’re part of Consciousness and believing this makes doing good for yourself and in the world effortless How to understand and overcome trauma with this worldview that everything is happening for your highest good There are no limits, only the ones we put thereInterested in working with us? EP 024 | How to Create a Good Vibration
What does it mean to have “good vibes?” Why do some people seem to exude a positive, effortless good energy? Yet others (maybe even you?) feel like there’s a dark cloud following them around that they can’t get away from? Can you catch bad vibes? Is there a secret on how to create a good vibration in yourself? How do you “seal in” the good vibes after working with plant medicine? Today on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we are coming to you from the beautiful beach of Ayampe, Ecuador, fresh off many weeks of sitting in ceremony with our medicine family, soaking in good vibes. Is there a secret on how to create a good vibration? (And keep it?) We're determined to find out.
In this episode we uncover the mystery of what to do in your own life to find your unique high vibration. We share about how plant medicines invite attunement to the high vibration that we ALL have inside us, and how to feed that fire. And as always, we talk about what gets in the way, misconceptions about how having a naturally good vibration works, spiritual bypassing, choosing to evolve beyond trauma, and more. Everything you need is already inside you, and this episode is going to show you how to tune into your own magic.

EP 023 | What's Your True Why?
If you’ve been listening to The Psychedelic Integration Podcast for a while, you may have gotten the idea that healing with psychedelics is like, hard work, or something. It’s time to come full circle and reconnect to the real reasons we do this podcast or any of this medicine and integration work. “What’s Your True Why?” is an episode dedicated to singing the song of your heart.
No matter where you are today, something is calling you toward plant medicines. Maybe you want to hurt less. Feel good. Enjoy your life. Be more yourself. Connect with your soul purpose. Or maybe you aren’t sure just yet, but you know that something is missing. Maybe you feel stuck, blocked, or overwhelmed living a life that doesn’t resonate. Maybe you’re in pain, and you just want to feel like yourself again. Today we’re going to share about all the beautiful reasons why our hearts were called to heal with plant medicines. Why we continue to do the work with psychedelic integration. How Your True Why will change and evolve along with you. Why every minute of all of it is SO worth it. And to inspire you to ask yourself, “What’s Your True Why?”
In this episode, John and Sinclair talk about:
Going beyond the “work” of psychedelics and plant medicines to the reasons behind WHY you want to do it Planting the seeds of your why and watching them grow Following the societal program, not asking questions, doing what you’re supposed to do, checking off the boxes The inevitable existential crisis that calls you to psychedelics Not feeling grateful, satisfied, or fulfilled with your identity Coming to terms with the “working world” and feeling that there is something really wrong with how our society functions Rave culture and exploring psychedelics recreationally as a means of escape and connection Developing an addiction as a coping mechanism to escape The Matrix and depression of living in the 21st century Going to Burning Man and having a spiritual awakening with mushrooms Beginning to move away from suffering and letting go of what isn’t aligned and serving you Walking towards joy, happiness, peace, self-love, being present Everyone is on the path, and the path is a spiral of ascension The pain is the motivating factor to get most people started on changing their lives Creating space for joy, play, fun, abundance, happiness Receiving the call to be in service Doing your own work on yourself and transmuting suffering into positive vibrations Oneness, unity, compassion - these are vibrations The more you help, the more you give, the more you feel good, the more you call in what you want Finding self-love with plant medicine Believing that you deserve good things, and EVERYONE deserves good things Focusing on your own growth and healing as a way to help heal humanity The ripple effect of healing yourself and being yourself, being kind and compassionate Holding a good vibration as a healing gift to everyone around you Feeling like you need to justify your existence and taking up space Learning how to treat yourself with compassion and love Gathering the tools and consciousness to choose where you put your attention, and how you respond rather than how you’re programmed to react The plant medicines as an ancient consciousness that is your partner in healing and growth You have the ability to relieve your own suffering, you are the only one in your way Helping each other walk the path homeLearn more about working with us: https://mysticalheartcollective.com

EP 022 | Thank You Plant Medicine: Integration Stories
Every year on February 20th, people come together all over the world in a shared wave of gratitude to say....THANK YOU PLANT MEDICINE! Like so many of you, intentional healing with plant medicines gave us a new awareness of what it means to live a spiritual human life. This year, we were inspired to go beyond the plant medicine experience and share a deeper message of hope and transformation. This week's episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast offers an intimate and vulnerable look at our personal Thank You Plant Medicine integration stories. We're opening up about what comes after the medicine... the messy parts of becoming whole and coming home to yourself. Facing fear, chronic pain, criticism, anger, and more. And how we continue to do our own personal spiritual evolution through our relationship with plant medicines and our coaching practice.
In this episode, Sinclair shares about...
Defining integration, embodying your plant medicine experiences Her most important lessons from working with the plants Becoming aware of emotions and leaning into them, digging into fear, anxiety, and pain Chronic pain and anxiety as a physical manifestation of fear Taking personal responsibility for creating your own suffering Choosing to view your life through a new lens of empowerment instead of trauma and being a victim "Now you have to go forth and heal yourself." How Covid created The Hermit conditions for deep self-exploration Mindbody regulation, constant fight or flight system being turned on, finding safety Breath, meditation, morning routines, creating a vibration of joy, peace, and calm How fear hijacks your life, your mind, your emotions, your body, and your vibration Calling in what you want to feel instead Breathing and self-regulating Whatever you resist persists Learning to train your brain to stop being afraid of pain People pleasing, taking on other people's issues, perfectionism, and being a "good person" Approaching service through doing your own personal healing Why having support from a coach is amazing The simple shift from fear to trust, from anxiety to calmAnd John shares about...
Taking personal responsibility for everything in his life Becoming aware of holding the vibration of judgment, criticism, and anger The process of becoming aware over time The jarring experience of seeing something ugly within yourself How the vibration of what you don't want changes over time as you integrate Can I watch this and not identify with it? Watering thoughts with your attention Expressing the criticism is giving it life, beating yourself up is getting wrapped up in it Just observing the energy and saying I SEE YOU The physical feelings of anger and judgment Cause and effect is not actually what you think How the Creator only makes good people We are our most fantastic art project Transforming fear into love in your own life, just that is a lot of work Whatever shows up in your life IS the path
EP 021 | Why We Love Plant Medicine Retreats
We've been getting loads of questions lately about HOW to sit with psychedelics and plant medicines. On this episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're unpacking all the different ways you can meet sacred medicines and why we LOVE plant medicine retreats. Plant medicine retreats, particularly with ayahuasca and San Pedro, are our preferred and recommended way to go deep into yourself and explore the things that are holding you back from having the life you truly want and deserve. An ayahuasca retreat with sacred medicines can make the difference between just having a visual, psychedelic experience, and actually getting a vision for your life. Today we're going to explain how and why plant medicine retreats work.
Our personal and professional recommendation for an affordable, powerful healing plant medicine retreat experience is Hayulima Spiritual Sanctuary. This is the home of our medicine family in Ecuador that we continue to work with and learn from. They are our friends and teachers, and we would not be doing this work without their inspiration, support, and love. Our gratitude to them is great, and we are excited about the beautiful spiritual home they are building together in Mindo.
In this episode, John and Sinclair share about...
The different containers for having a psychedelic experience and why we prefer working with elders in a ceremony with sacred plant medicines in a retreat setting The path to working with medicines on your own is difficult and often long Why plant medicine retreats are so healing and powerful The two categories of entheogenic or psychedelic compounds: Synthetic Compounds (LSD, Ketamine, 2CB, MDMA, Mescaline, Psilocybin, DMT, etc.) and Earth Medicines (San Pedro, Ayahuasca, Iboga, Peyote, Psychoactive Mushrooms, Bufo, Yopo) Why we prefer to work with Earth Medicines, and the difference between taking a synthetic compound and a plant, fungus, or Earth medicine Start where you are - what's accessible, what's available, what's affordable, what's close is often how many paths begin. Doing the work you need to do with what you have is valid and okay! The benefits of sitting in a circle with elders who carry an unbroken tradition from our ancestors It's not just about our own human healing, but our relationship with the Earth, the water, our environment and sitting with shamans allows you to receive this living wisdom Receiving the wisdom of thousands of voices and thousands of years in addition to having the spirit of the plants with you is the most powerful experience Being reminded by teachers who live close to the land and walk the spirit dimension has been key to finding a vision for our lives Medicine is everywhere: the music, the songs, the land, the animals, the spirits, the people in your retreat, the fire, the people holding space for you and caring for you, the sweat lodge, the teepee, the maloka are medicine... Retreating from everyday life is medicine. Going out of your comfort zone so you can break the cycle of the heavy vibration that pervades our culture Why coming to plant medicines is a calling - YOU are being called Going into a place with a different worldview enhances your ability to change your way of thinking and receive the medicine Why Latin America feels so alive and vibrant and wild, and how our hearts respond to that Healing is taking responsibility for yourself, but you have to be ready and willing to do the workAND MORE!

EP 020 | Rise and Align: Our Psychedelic Life Philosophy
Welcome to 2022 and Season 2 of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast! In our first episode of the new year, we're sharing all about our psychedelic integration philosophy, our coaching philosophy, our transformation philosophy, and our life philosophy. (Hint: They're magically all one thing!) Rise and Align is the term we use to describe how we approach working with sacred medicines as a way of life in a long term and transformative way, and today we're going to explain this process in detail for you.
In this episode, John and Sinclair discuss...
The expectations you have about medicines and how they work, how they call you What healing actually looks like instead is living by spiritual principles and virtues How the medicines trick you into remembering you're a divine spirit The lifetime process of aligning yourself with the messages from plant medicines Symptoms as messengers – physical illness, emotional trauma, anxiety, depression, lack of direction, addictions Searching for meaning, clarity, and direction is being caused by an unmet need The alarms that bring people to psychedelics and plant medicines Symptoms are coping mechanism that your spirit has sent to you to deal with the root cause of whatever is going on Being out of alignment with your spirit is the root cause of suffering Why so many of us are disconnected from God/Source The sacred psychedelic experience lifts the veil and you see that life is eternal and this is just one aspect of consciousness experiencing itself You are not alone, you are part of a divine plan, and you are light in a physical body So can you just sit in that vibration all the time and not have any symptoms and not be depressed? It can feel like that IF you do the work to align yourself and raise your own vibration every day. It's always there Programming and sinking back into the lower vibration of forgetting the mystical experience Bridging the chasm between the mystical and practical, daily life is a choice Why you actually don't want the medicines to "cure" you Stepping into the power that you have to choose your vibration and aligning yourself with it The pink cloud that happens after the ceremony, the programming returns Jealousy, judgment, anger, and old negative behaviors and attitudes pathways are strong, they have some momentum People expect you to be the "old" you after medicine, so it can feel lonely to make these shifts into a new way of living and thinking The idea that you have to figure it all out alone after the medicine Everyone on Instagram is lying to you, medicine work is not easy, it's messy, and it's not love and light all the time The media you consume actively tries to fill in the new path you're digging with fear, scarcity, and lack Getting support is so important as you transition and transform with medicines, rise into your new vibration, and align your life with your new awareness A story about an old man and a young man in a tree chopping contest AND MORE!
EP 019 | Embracing an Attitude of Gratitude
Are you ready to drop the complaining suckfest and get on board with embracing an attitude of gratitude? In this Thanksgiving week episode on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're talking about what it means to truly cultivate a vibration of gratitude, how we get it wrong, and share some easy steps you can take to choose an attitude of gratitude every day.
In this episode, John and Sinclair discuss...
The real definition of gratitude as a vibration you hold Love and gratitude and how they are related Getting deeper into feeling grateful when everything is going your way, and when it's not Gratitude and its relationship to plant medicine and psychedelics The true source of gratitude as a state of mind that can be cultivated by anyone Receiving the message of not feeling grateful or thankful: things being out of alignment How plant medicine shifts your understanding of gratitude When you choose to fight and struggle, when you choose to be victimized, and get stuck in a cycle of complaining, you're making a choice to look at things in a negative way The duality of experiencing not having, of passing through places of going without or lack Practicing going without as a way to understand thankfulness Choosing gratitude as a mindset vs. looking to receive good things and THEN being grateful for it Becoming aware of what you already have The negative thought loop of complaining, perfectionism, and if/then thinking Never being satisfied with what already is creates a loop of blocking gratitude Getting sick and tired of feeling sorry for yourself as a starting point to creating gratitude Finding authentic gratitude where you are right now How you create blocks to gratitude by not taking care of what you already have Manifesting magic by being grateful NOW, not in the future Admitting that you're dissatisfied, unhappy, you don't like your life, and sitting with that Gratitude comes through having a reckoning with yourself Finding the good things in your present situation AND THEN finding gratitude for the uncomfortable and difficult circumstances that are happening so you can learn Everyone is your teacher, so you can learn to choose compassion, choose light, and choose to be kind and gentle with the people in your life Adjusting your attitude to see that life is happening for you not to you Becoming grateful for pain and suffering and transforming your own darkness into light Sculpting yourself into the truest and most authentic form Returning to the sacred place of knowing exactly who you are You don't need to change who you are, you need to remember who you are A simple gratitude practice you can do every dayDoes this resonate with you? If so, we'd love to invite you to learn more about Rise and Align, our 4 month psychedelic transformational coaching program where you'll learn exactly how to build a conscious healing partnership with plant medicines, follow your heart, and manifest the purpose driven life your heart is calling you toward.

EP 017 | Spiritual Burnout and The Healing Power of Rest
Today on this episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're coming to you from the comfort or our living room sofa to talk about Spiritual Burnout and The Healing Power of Rest. What is spiritual burnout or therapeutic burnout, what does it look like, and how can you learn how to spot it? This is a crucial subject that is rarely talked about (but often experienced) on any spiritually focused path, and can be especially profound and important to recognize as part of your psychedelic integration plan.
In this episode, John and Sinclair have a conversation about...
How working on spiritual development can become an obsession, making life feel heavy and hard Defining spiritual burnout or therapeutic burnout, and what it looks like when you don't take rest How avoiding psychedelic integration actually leads to spiritual burnout How society rewards hustle culture, grinding yourself down, and overachieving and the dark side of doing this with plant medicines and psychedelics Why using plant medicine for "performance enhancement" can feel out of alignment Signs of spiritual burnout including low energy, depression, loss of excitement, loss of excitement, overwhelm, and exhaustion Psychedelics are designed to reconnect us to our natural curiosity about ourselves and the universe, and when it stops feeling good, that's a sign that something is out of balance Why you have to take breaks from medicine to see results and allow for healing Setting up for disappointment by looking at ourselves as unhealed, never doing enough, and seeing spiritual development as a problem to be solved How to recognize spiritual burnout, what causes it, and how to shift away from feeling overwhelmed Taking it easy, taking your time, slowing down, and allowing things to be as they are Consciousness expanding is only one side of the coin, integration is the other side Balancing doing with rest and receiving Asking yourself, what is the point of sitting with medicine if you are not doing anything with it? Avoiding spiritual burnout starts with understanding that medicine is a tool, spiritual living is a path It takes how long it takes, and that is a gift Shifting from perfectionism to progress and celebrating all the positive steps you take on your path of growth Fun as an integration practice Being gentle and compassionate with yourself when you are doing shadow work Short term vs. long term burnout, and how each is interrelated to lack of community, understanding, and support Taking breaks from medicines or anything that is sucking the joy out of your life is healthy and necessary Connecting back to your heart and listening to your body Learning how to know what season you are in and how you can work with us to integrate your psychedelic journeys over a longer period of timeIf you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review HERE. EP 016 | Army Combat Veteran on Healing PTSD with Ayahuasca
On this week's new episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're sharing a remarkable plant medicine and integration success story from one of our closest friends and integration coaching clients. Shawn is an Iraq combat veteran who served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. In this episode, he speaks openly about the traumas he experienced both on and off the battlefield, and how those traumas ultimately led him to a path of healing his PTSD through working with ayahuasca and other plant medicines. We are honored to share this very personal and inspiring story with you.
EP 016 | Army Combat Veteran on Healing PTSD with Ayahuasca
In this episode, Shawn shares about...
Growing up in the 90's era of street crime, drugs, and choosing to join the Army as a way out Enlisting and heading into basic training one month after September 11th Transitioning from civilian life into military life, where emotions like fear were not encouraged or expressed Going into combat in Kuwait in 2003, at the beginning of the Shock and Awe phase of the Iraq War The reality of life in the military, getting into a rhythm, and normalizing living in a war zone Surviving, training, and the strong character of people living with the daily threat of combat Coming to terms with possibly not making it home Returning home after a year on the front lines, feeling older than your age, and feeling alien after the experience Feeling anger around veterans being portrayed as victims in the media What the PTSD and trauma experience looked like for him Using drugs and alcohol as an ineffective coping tool and hitting multiple rock bottoms Deciding to work with ayahuasca in Ecuador and facing unrealistic expectations Working with plant medicine over time with a spiritual community Getting help from the VA, and why the pharmaceutical approach doesn't solve the whole problem for everyone The problem with 12 step programs Finding a winding spiritual path with plant medicine and digging into core issues Getting reminders and new perspectives from ayahuasca and feeling empowered to make life changes Shifting his consciousness toward self-care and away from the victim mentality Cultivating gratitude Making big decisions and life changes with the guidance of the medicines Building a long term, respectful relationship with ayahuasca, San Pedro, and peyote Following a minimum effective dose strategy coupled with integration and doing the work The BIG integration lesson Plant medicines and appreciating being sober Avoiding patterns of taking plant medicine without purpose Advice for veterans who are interested in working with plant medicinesIf you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review HERE. EP 015 | How to Be The Medicine (And Infiltrate The Matrix)
On this week's new episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're getting into one of our favorite topics: How to Be The Medicine (and Infiltrate The Matrix). So many of our integration coaching clients spend loads of money and time investing in a plant medicine retreat, finding deep, transformational healing with psychedelics, but have no real plan for what happens next.
How to integrate and how to exist in the world with this new awareness after finding a real connection to yourself through your psychedelic experience can feel isolating, lonely, and overwhelming. So what comes after the ceremony ends and the pink cloud fades? How do you take the lessons you learned in your journey into your real life in a practical and sustainable way?
This is part of what we teach in Psychedelic Integration Academy, and today we're going to shed some light on how you can Be The Medicine and Infiltrate The Matrix.
In this episode, John and Sinclair share about...
How we get caught up in the "Us vs. Them" spiritual tribe mentality, and why it can be dangerous Creating stories and onboarding limiting beliefs and creates excuses for not connecting to others Being the medicine in your life and what this means Taking personal responsibility for bringing the lessons and awareness into your daily life The universal human understanding of vulnerability, compassion, and personal connection How onboarding the new awareness and understandings from sacred plant medicines can be painful and overwhelming The forest fire method of changing your life vs. getting support and making a plan for transformation and integration Why a lot of people feel lost, isolated, or even give up after having a spiritual awakening How sharing your gifts makes them grow and thrive inside you Talking to your family and friends about your new awareness through stories and lessons, rather than the specific psychedelic experience The privilege, responsibility, and the opportunity of working with plant medicines Integration is the process of becoming whole and embodying your wholeness in your life Recognizing that you have to change is hard and can cause panic and fear How to infiltrate The System with Your Light - we break the system from the inside, and going inside ourselves, and doing our very best, no matter the circumstances Seeing your spiritual teachers in every person you meet Living and acting from your heart and being the medicine that the world needs Being authentically yourself calls in your people and connects you into the community you want, and it's your responsibility to stay awake and spread your lightIf you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review HERE. EP 014 | The Truth About Healing with Psychedelics
This week on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're having a real honest talk about the truth about healing with psychedelics. After taking six weeks off to relocate our lives and work to Wimberley, Texas, just outside Austin, we're back and excited to take a deep dive into what "healing with psychedelics" actually means. How is the conventional Western healthcare system failing us? Why is healing with psychedelics is becoming a lifesaving healing modality for so many people who have been left behind and left in pain by the endless cycle of doctors, diagnoses, treatment plans, drugs, and symptom management? What does walking the spiritual path with sacred medicines as your guides really mean?
In this episode, Sinclair and John discuss...
The common and spiritual definitions of healing and psychedelics Symptoms and how they are an effect of a source or cause further upstream How shifting to working with plant medicines and psychedelics shifts your meaning of healing The participatory requirement of working with plant medicines to look at what's being revealed and lean into it The accepted paradigm that there is ALWAYS a physical or physiological cause to illness That the source of illness and disease starts in the consciousness and spirit and manifests in our emotional, mental, and physical body from there Why people are seeking help outside the for-profit healthcare system for chronic pain, chronic illness, over-medication and suffering without end How plant medicines are sharing their ancient consciousness with us to help us live our purpose with more joy, love, and happiness How psychedelics can show us the true nature and causes of our illnesses and dis-ease by reconnecting us to our true selves and returning us to our natural order and balance When our spirits are high, anything is possible Diagnoses, pharmaceutical drugs, commercials selling diseases, side effects, and more... Treatment plans that require lifelong dependence on the provider and why this is not actually treatment The truth about healing with psychedelics: Bringing the mystical experience into your everyday reality through sustainable spiritual integration practices The many manifestations of spirituality and living a spiritual life, and how these practices support health, harmony, and well-being Psychedelics are just the first step, taking action to align your life with your vision is where the real work isIf you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review HERE. Positive reviews help us reach more people who are seeking lasting transformation with psychedelics and psychedelic integration. Carlos was born and raised in the United States and has degrees in both art and philosophy. He moved to Iquitos, Peru in 2004 and lived with his first teacher for four years before creating the Ayahuasca Foundation in 2008. EP 012 | Manifestation and Prayer
Manifestation and Prayer: Two seemingly separate and unrelated spiritual practices that may even seem opposed or at odds with each other in today's modern world. In reality, manifestation and prayer are a super secret power duo that combine forces to bring about massive transformation and positive changes in our lives. This week on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we are unpacking the emotional baggage we may be carrying about both manifestation and prayer, and investigate where we get our agreements about what these things even are. We'll discuss each practice in detail, and go into the ways we get confused and even discouraged by thinking we are doing something wrong when we try to manifest things and it never works out.
We'll also talk about how many of us lose our connection with prayer through negative religious experiences, and how taking back this practice and using it in our own lives will amplify our experiences of well-being, healing, and wellness.
Our signature program - Psychedelic Integration Academy - is live. We designed this course to be a one stop shop to help anyone, with any experience level properly prepare for, navigate, and integrate their psychedelic experience. If you are interested in learning more check out our website.

EP 011 | Minimum Effective Dose, Microdosing, and Ego Death
Have you ever wondered "How much plant medicine should I take?" Trying to figure out the right amount of medicine to take to have the experience you are seeking can be overwhelming and daunting. But don't worry, there is actually a smart, safe, and effective method you can use to manage your dose every time you sit with psychedelics. This week on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast we're sharing our tried and true strategy, experience, and insights around always taking the Minimum Effective Dose, and finding your own Middle Way when healing with psychedelics. Keep in mind that our work with plant medicines and psychedelics is for the purpose of healing and growth, and this talk is based on our personal and professional experiences in this context.
The Minimum Effective Dose strategy means choosing to take the smallest amount of medicine needed to get the desired results, experience, or effect. There is a spectrum of methods and advice around how to work with psychedelics, from Microdosing to the Heroic Dose or Ego Death Dose, and everything in between. It can help to understand the wisdom and power of the Minimum Effective Dose by learning about the different types of psychedelic experiences, why and how they work, what they can deliver, and why you might want to dip your toes into the kiddie pool vs. diving into the abyss when it comes to psychedelics.
Join us for a fun conversation about finding your own Middle Way with psychedelics, and learn some questions to ask yourself when preparing to take your next journey. Also, stay until the end to hear a serendipitous and magical story about how our Ayahuasca and San Pedro plant medicine retreat found its home on the beach of Olón, Ecuador.

EP 010 | Creating Space to Feel Your Feelings
Today we're talking about Creating Space to Feel Your Feelings. We know, this sounds like a drag, right? If you're like us, you are probably professional avoiders of pain, and have run the gamut of avoidance rather than actually deeply engaging in your feelings and emotions. This is a problem, because over time, when we become conditioned to divert, avoid, and repress our feelings, we start to develop energetic blocks, emotional and mental health issues, and even serious physical illnesses.
On this week's episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're having a conversation about all the ways we try to get out of engaging with our feelings, and how some of these coping mechanisms can really harm us over time. We'll also share about how to move through your feelings with grace and empowerment, why throwing tantrums as an adult is a good thing, and discuss how ceremony with plant medicines teaches us presence and surrender to our feelings, allowing us to make space for the things we truly want in life. And of course how healing with psychedelics and plant medicines help us feel our feelings and connect to our hearts, and how they teach us to carry what we experience in ceremony into our daily lives.
Mystical Heart Collective helps people heal with psychedelics through education, integration, retreats, and the power of community.

EP 009 | The Wounded Healer
Do you identify as an empath or wounded healer or know someone who does? This week on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're exploring the concept of The Wounded Healer, and all the nuances of what it can look like when you're called to be in service to others as someone who has overcome your own trauma or wounding. Wounded healers are often drawn to professions of guidance such as coaching, teaching, therapy, spiritual guidance, facilitation, energy and body work, and other healing careers where they provide support to others.
We discuss how healing something within yourself actually makes you the best person to be in a role of service to others on a path of personal growth, and we'll talk about how conditionally loving and helping someone can sometimes be more harmful than good. We also get into how the shadow side of The Wounded Healer can really derail our intentions, and how psychedelics give us guidance and vision for making it across the bridge of change and growth to reside in our own vision for our lives.

EP 008 | Can Psychedelics Help Treat Anxiety?
The Mayo Clinic defines anxiety as "Intense, excessive, and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations." Anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorders in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year. Through the lens of Western medicine, anxiety is seen one of many mental health disorders that are becoming more prevalent and less treatable through that same system. In short, we are becoming more and more anxious, phobic, and full of fear and panic, and there is less and less that modern medicine seems to be able to do about it.
Enter plant medicines! Psychedelics have shown to be a promising, effective, rapid (and scientifically proven) treatment for anxiety disorders. On this episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're diving into how anxiety harms us, and how psychedelics can help treat anxiety. And we'll talk about how they do this by actually getting to our root causes of anxiety, helping us find understanding, insight, and providing tools to help us forge a path of empowerment, relief, and self-healing. Learn about what you need to know to get prepared to work with psychedelics to heal anxiety, how to seek help, and understand why it's important to have an integration plan to support you throughout your journey.

On this week's podcast episode, John Steiner shares his story of healing his relationship with himself, and how finding harmony within has led to a good relationship with the rest of life.

EP 006 | Thank You Plant Medicine: Sinclair Fleetwood's Story
Thank You Plant Medicine (#thankyouplantmedicine) is an annual global campaign designed to encourage people whose lives have been changed by plant medicine to share their stories of transformation and gratitude, and to help end the stigma around the use of psychedelics. We are honored to devote our next two episodes of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast to sharing our personal stories of how plant medicine has radically changed and enhanced our lives. On this week's podcast episode, Sinclair Fleetwood shares her personal story of overcoming addiction to alcohol, transforming trauma, and healing her relationship with her father after his death in prison. She speaks about her personal experiences with ayahuasca and San Pedro, and shares about aligning with her purpose to help guide others to their own power through healing with psychedelics.

EP 005 | WTF Is Spiritual Alchemy?!?
We're getting a little esoteric on this week's episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, aiming to challenge some of the limiting narratives we see around psychedelics and what they actually do for us, as well as to inspire some critical thinking and understanding of what psychedelic integration looks like in practice. So, WTF is spiritual alchemy?
Join us for a conversation about the historical origins of alchemy and where this concept comes from, all the way into our modern day thinking where we run into all kinds of myths and misconceptions around the actual methods of transforming darkness into light. What does that actually look like in daily life, and how can psychedelics help awaken us to our own magical powers of creation? We'll talk about what being a real life spiritual alchemist really looks like, and we'll give you some guidance on how to turn on the lights in your own psychedelic healing journey.

EP 004 | Releasing Fear with Psychedelics
On this week’s episode of The Psychedelic Integration Podcast we’re having a conversation about releasing fear with psychedelics. We often half-joke about how psychedelics literally help us escape from The Matrix, but the truth is that we live in a society where fear, anxiety, worry, and stress are manufactured to keep us divided and disempowered. Our modern society has us constantly plugged into news, entertainment, and social media that hijacks our vibration with a constant feed of “Be Afraid. Don’t Trust People Different Than You. There’s Something Wrong with You. Buy This to Feel Better.”
Whether we are conscious of it or not, consuming news and media that makes us feel bad about ourselves and the world creates illness in our bodies and minds, and distracts us from all the possibility, opportunity, and magic we could have in our lives instead.

EP 003 | How Intention Unlocks the Power of Psychedelics
This week on The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, we're having a conversation about the power of intention to unlock psychedelics and level up our experiences. So many of us find our way to psychedelics through recreational use, and often having fun is the gateway to discovering the magical powers of these master teachers.
When we understand we have the power (through intention) to build a relationship with the spirits of the medicines, rather than just treating the experience as a thing that happens to us outside of our control, well, it's kind of a game changer.
We define and discuss intention, talk about why recreational use unfairly gets a bad rap, and share our personal experiences of transitioning from less mindful recreational use to ceremonial use, and what we've learned along the way. We'll also talk about how to find your intention, shift your mindset, and get the most out of your growing understanding of how psychedelics can heal and help you in your daily life.
It's ok and good to have fun and enjoy yourself, even when you're healing!
Adding intention into the mix, even if that intention is to enjoy yourself, connect with others, and have fun, helps create a conversation with the medicines, allowing an opening to expanding our consciousness and awareness, and leading to personal growth and healing.

EP 002 | Transforming Anger with Psychedelics
In this week's podcast, we dive into anger and the different ways it manifests and expresses itself in our lives. We speak to our own personal experiences of healing anger and rage through psychedelics, and we offer some practical things you can do to start getting a handle on anger through awareness, attention, and healthy coping mechanisms. We will also talk about what to do when you need to tell someone you're angry with them, what to express and when, and how to do it with grace and balance.
It is possible to express and process anger in a way that feels good and healthy!
Whether we are prone to repression or explosion, anger is actually not our enemy. It's our ally. Anger is the messenger with a dire warning that SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE. So how do we move from rageaholic to rational, clear, calm expressions of anger? Psychedelics have so much to teach us about transforming anger and how we react and respond to it.
