Sales and Marketing Alignment
Sales and Marketing Alignment
One of the big challenges in the commercial world is often aligning sales and marketing people. If it's working to different agenda, not understanding each other's roles, speaking a different 'language' or having different targets, the result can sometimes be animosity and misunderstanding which can be a detriment to customer experience.
In this session, Neil Wilkins discusses things you can do to build an effective bridge between sales and marketing, by working to common goals, sharing success and realising the different but complimentary contributions each party makes to a customer's journey.

Embracing Change
Embracing Change
Embracing Change Webinar
They say that in life there are only two certainties: death and taxes. I would say there’s a third certainty; Change.
Let’s challenge that change is a bad thing and that certainty, normality and predictability are your friends. It may even be that change is so positive, you will want to embrace it at every opportunity.
Embracing change is personal, to the individual and to the business, because of the unique context, paradigms, mindset and skills we all possess.
CHANGE MINDSET
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” Dr Wayne Dyer
“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change their future by merely changing their attitude” Oprah Winfrey
"You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy” C. JoyBell C.
“Be the change you wish to see in the world” Mahatma Gandhi
“Change before you have to” Jack Welch
Don't just learn, experience. Don't just read, absorb. Don't just change, transform. Don't just relate, advocate. Don't just promise, prove. Don't just criticize, encourage. Don't just think, ponder. Don't just take, give. Don't just see, feel. Don’t just dream, do. Don't just hear, listen. Don't just talk, act. Don't just tell, show. Don't just exist, live. Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

Product Marketing versus Service Marketing
Product Marketing versus Service Marketing
Neil Wilkins helps us to understand the differences between product and service marketing and also where they blend together to give competitive advantage and added-value customer experience “
Product marketing refers to the marketing of tangible goods, which comprise of all those things that people can see, touch or feel. In other words, the audiences to whom you wish to sell your product can observe and comprehend the way the tangible goods work.” TermsCompared.com
Typical Product Marketing Companies - Manufacturing High Street Retail Fashion Pharmaceuticals
“Service marketing refers to the act of carrying out an activity for someone in return for appropriate compensation. Service is intangible because it cannot be seen, touched or felt.” TermsCompared.com
Typical Service Marketing Companies - Banking Utilities Insurance Streaming
But where it all blends is where the true value really starts and this is called the Augmented Product.
“An augmented product has been enhanced by its seller with added features or services to distinguish it from the same product offered by its competitors.” Investopedia.com

Reasons to run a Pilot Marketing Campaign
Reasons to run a Pilot Marketing Campaign
Neil Wilkins shares reasons to run a pilot campaign before going all in on the full project.
Neil explores the steps you can take to keep the quality high and the evidence accurate and relevant for scaling up to a full campaign.
If you find yourself chasing your tail with lots of people putting in multiple requests for your time and energy, this process could be the answer to give you back control and provide better value in your marketing outputs.
Pilot Studies Started in Research
“… two main types of pilot studies … are for the most part (1) smaller versions of studies, called feasibility studies, and (2) “the pre-testing or ‘trying out’” journals.sagepub.com
“A pilot is the trial run, a dry run, or a small-scale test to make sure the the improvements will work as planned.” LinkedIn.com
“Conducting a pilot study does not guarantee success in the main study, but it does increase the likelihood of success.” pubmed.nci.nlm.nih.gov
“A pilot program allows marketers and sales teams to test their messages and target customers, and at the same time provides an understanding of the potential costs and expected results (leads generated, ROI) without the extensive financial investment needed for a full-blast campaign launch.” PureB2B.com
“… narrow down specific bottlenecks or preliminary problems early on. By pinpointing potential problem areas in the pilot phase, it allows … necessary adjustments promptly before implementing the solution at scale.” abr.com
“It permits a thorough check of the planned statistical and analytical procedures, giving you a chance to evaluate their usefulness for the data. You may then be able to make needed alterations in the data collecting methods, and therefore, analyze data in the main study more efficiently.” uis.edu
‘In simple terms, a pilot can be a very helpful way to manage marketing target expectations across the business … evidence-based, not just wished for’
The Pilot Mindset
“Adopt an experimentation mindset. Too many businesses are afraid to fail, so they don't put themselves in the position to do so. Often, this looks like either avoidance of pursuing new ideas or failure to properly test a product idea before launching it.
By adopting an experimentation mindset, you'll be more willing to make mistakes and test a variety of different ideas. Your business model will unlock more long-term value, as you'll give more ideas a chance to come to fruition. In this case, failure is also seen as a success, as it allows you to better understand what works and what doesn't in this ever-changing business world.” businessnewsdaily.com
Key Elements to Test in a Pilot Campaign
Target Audiences
Timing
Marketing Channels
Creative Design
Messages
Calls To Action
KPIs and Targets
Methods of Measurement
How Much is Enough?
“A solid 10% is enough so you can make an impact on your brand, but it’s not so much that you’ll regret spending it if the pilot doesn’t go according to plan.” ignitevisibility.com

Making Energy 22022022
Making Energy 22022022
Today is unique and perhaps a little more unique than every other day (which of course are also unique). It's 22022022, 22nd February 2022, a palindrome and an ambigram, at the same time. The date reads the same, left to right as right to left, as upside down.
So what does that tell us? Well perhaps it reminds us that together, we can give momentum and energy to otherwise seemingly random things.
Let me explain a little technique you can try today, to manifest something you want, need or desire, by utilising the collective energies of those around you. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.... mail@neilwilkins.online
