Ecclesiastics 3:4 reminds us that for all of us, there most certainly is a time to weep. Even still, the fruit of the spirit remains joy, and as God's children, we are not designed by Him to flourish if we nest in a constant state of negative emotions.  In this podcast, Cindy shares some fresh, practical approaches to help listeners find and better sustain that quiet, contented, confident feeling and sense of well-being that we call joy.

In this podcast, Cindy builds on her thoughts at the 2023 Florida College Lectures in Temple Terrace, Florida by using real-life examples of the Christian women she met all over the country while living nomadically for 2 1/2 years. Be encouraged by what these women have been able to overcome because their confidence was in God, learn what they do to build that kind of spiritual muscle, and be inspired by the beautiful ways they express their love for Christ and one another. Truly, the power God has given women to change the world for good still exists today.

Many of the people most enthusiastic and full of questions about our Vanlife are often college-aged, so it was not a surprise to us when the analytics of the Nomads You and I Podcast revealed most of our listeners are between the ages of 18 and 22. Every podcast we record at Nomads You And I, is intended to help you in both small and deep ways. We want to make a difference for good in the world and in the lives of individuals. In Christianity, we understand that God created humans upright (Ecclesiastes 7:29), but we “have sought out many devices.” Throughout life, there is a war within us between a spirit that is willing and a flesh that is weak, and ultimately we either choose to remain the “natural man” who self-destructs, or we will choose to reach our full potential by becoming the “spiritual man” God intends and longs for us to be. Jesus Christ adamantly claims in John 14:6 “ “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” Jesus did not say He was “one way” to the Father, but that He is “THE way” to the Father.  Jesus did not say He was not one of many sources of divine truth, that He is THE source of truth― the final say that trumps all other voices.  Unlike most other world religions, one of the clearest truths presented in Scripture is that Christianity is NOT one path among many toward being united with God. In a world growing increasingly hostile toward Christianity, many wonder, "Is there objective evidence that Christianity is the one true religion?" In this podcast, Cindy shares the evidence she felt too convicting to turn a blind eye and describes her own journey toward choosing Christianity and how that decision has impacted her life.

According to World Health Organization, there are an estimated 40 to 50 million abortions each year around the world, approximately 125 thousand each day. In the United States, nearly half of all pregnancies are unintended; four-tenths of these are terminated by abortion, leading to over 3,000 abortions daily. 22% of all pregnancies in America (excluding miscarriages) are ended by abortion. At present, a womb is the single most dangerous place for a person to be. You’ve likely lived long enough to see with your own eyes what happens when the “to each his own ''philosophy reigns, that is, when mankind attempts to create his own truth rather than following the one true divinely appointed standard of right and wrong. It's hard to miss the reality that the degree to which a society moves toward the moral standard given to us by the mind of God through His inspired writers of the New Testament, is the degree to which chaos, turmoil, and suffering is replaced with peace, and productivity, and prosperity. The scientific laws of physics that so efficiently sustain every living in God’s creation, are surely evidence that His absolute moral laws, when followed, will work just as well as ... gravity. 

In this podcast, we will look deeply into what God says about truth and what He wants our relationship with truth to look like so that we can avoid a life-destroying head-on collision with truth, and get access to all the good things God says happens when we open our hearts and our lives to His absolute truths.

With her cohost on Older Women Likewise, Alison Graham, in this podcast Cindy explores the promises God makes around inheriting eternal life, what we can do to keep alive in our hearts the desire for “our true country”, and how those who love God have everything to look forward to.

Having recently visited the home of poet, Robert Frost in Derry, New Hampshire, I walked a number of the beautiful autumnal little trails on his property that inspired his famous lines, “I took the road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” 

I've always been able to relate to those words on a spiritual level, having opted in my teen years to take our Lord's advice to “Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.  How narrow is the gate and difficult the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it!" (Matthew 7:13-14)

Entering that narrow gate and traversing that challenging terrain on the narrow way has, at times, been anything but easy, but the views from that upward climb are not to be missed, and I've not for a moment regretted that decision made so many years ago!

So how well do you think the church is doing across the country? It's easy to assume it's either going well or going poorly based on what you see where you are. But Mark and Cindy Dunagan have a pretty clear answer after visiting over 50 congregations in the last year. They are also podcasters and bloggers who are on a mission to visit 100 churches to see what works and what doesn't. I think you'll be interested to hear what they've learned from Christians who live their faith at the local congregation.

The timing of the publication of this wonderful book by one of our favorite authors hit at the perfect time.  Mark had preached for a congregation we loved in Oregon for 28 years, but sensed it would be just as good for them to hear a new voice, as it would be for us to liquidate most of our possessions, live out of our Airstream van and find more souls to love and inspire. At the time of this recording, we had been living on the road for about six months and LOVE climbing this second mountain, meeting amazing people, finding service opportunities, doing things for the first time, speaking God's truths through new venues, and as a result, experiencing beauty hard to put into words.

He gathers their wisdom on how to choose a partner, how to pick a vocation, how to live out a philosophy, and how we can begin to integrate our commitments into one overriding purpose.

In short, this book is meant to help us all lead more meaningful lives. But it’s also a provocative social commentary. We live in a society, Brooks argues, that celebrates freedom, that tells us to be true to ourselves, at the expense of surrendering to a cause, rooting ourselves in a neighborhood, binding ourselves to others by social solidarity and love. We have taken individualism to the extreme—and in the process, we have torn the social fabric in a thousand different ways. The path to repair is through making deeper commitments. In The Second Mountain, Brooks shows what can happen when we put commitment-making at the center of our lives."

In this Three-Part Series, "Your Life Has Meaning: Living For God's Glory",  I offer foundational truths from the Scriptures that may be especially useful for those on the verge of becoming a Christian or are newly born again and have just embarked on their new life in the family of God.

Part One considers the incalculable blessings that await those who surrender their lives to God and serving Him for all the right reasons - love and gratitude - so we can go the distance.

Part Two of "Your Life Has Meaning: Living For God's Glory" considers what God says His expectations are of His children in our walk with Him--- things like the renewing of our minds, and how God earnestly desires, expects, and deserves from us a close relationship with Him, and that God expects those who are His to live a life of moral integrity, including the nourishing all of our relationships, including the relationships we have with our new church family.

Part Three of "Your Life Has Meaning: Living For God's Glory" looks at the blessings and responsibilities of being a member of a congregation, such as accomplishing God's life-beautifying work and being lovingly cared for by the shepherds, or elders of the church.

I conclude part three of this series with three beautiful promises from God for those who would serve Him:

"Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, you who have been borne by Me from birth and have been carried from the womb; even to your old age I will be the same, and even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; and I will bear you and I will deliver you.” (Isaiah 46:3-4)  If this was God’s relationship with physical Israel, how much more do these intimate and comforting words belong to spiritual Israel, composed of those who have the faith of Abraham, whose hearts are fully God’s. What a connection! What nurturing! And what gratitude we have for His fatherly comfort. If you have not done so already, we invite you to become a blessed child of God.

In Psalm 16:11 David says to God  “In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”

To God’s faithful children, it will on the Final Day be said, " Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master.' (Matt 25:21-22)

This podcaster's prayer is that the listeners of this series will embrace God's will for their lives, find fulfillment in what He has created them to be and do and on the last day that they will hear those most precious words as they enter an eternity basking in the glory of His Holiness. Amen.

In this podcast we will ponder some observations of both God and various writers on the topic of Motherhood, what to do to prepare our older children for adulthood and how to respond when a child rejects the love and wisdom of God. I prayed before recording this podcast and have asked God to give me the right words and that hearts of listeners will be open and encouraged, but more than that, I pray He make fruitful your efforts to raise children of virtue who are a light in this dark world and a force for only good. 

 Despite the uninspired voices around us pushing trendy things like reincarnation, God says in Hebrews 9:27 We only have one life--- the people die once, and after this comes judgment. That’s why Christians give it all they’ve got, because they live in the reality that only what's done for Christ will last. And as lovely as the most pleasant blessings are in this life, believers still kindle their desire for their TRUE country, and avoid mistaking the blessings of this life for heaven. 

We have a divinely implanted awareness that the soul lives forever. From where did that awareness come? Ecclesiastes 3:11 says God has ... set eternity in our hearts and Jesus said He was going to prepare a place for us in (John 14:3)!

 Let's explore some of what the scriptures say about eternity, and what our Creator says are the elements involved in ensuring a beautiful eternity with Him.
