Episode #99 w/ Coach Donnie Maib - University of Texas Assistant Athletics Director Athletic Performance

For the past 27 years, Coach Donnie Maib has had the privilege of working with multiple sports alongside some of the most elite sport coaches in the world. Working alongside such high level coaches has helped Donnie to hone in on what it takes to bring out the best in people, as well as how to build and maintain championship team cultures.  The experiences gleaned from the first day an athlete walks into the weight room until the day that athlete turns professional or begins their career in the job market, have molded Donnie’s ability to communicate, connect, motivate, inspire, and develop each individual to be the very best they can be.

Whether in the classroom or in the locker room, teaching an athlete on how to win in life through the tools of sports performance is Coach Maib’s primary passion and mission.  His approach has produced hundreds of all-conference accolades for his athletes, year after year consistent post-season appearances and wins in NCAA tournaments, as well as numerous Olympians spanning the past 3 decades.  All of the years leading, learning and growing in the trenches is something that makes Donnie unique and sets him apart from other coaches, trainers, and speakers.

Be on the lookout for Coach Maib's new book at his website at https://www.donniemaib.com/.

Episode #70 w/ Will Waterman- Proteus Motion

Episode #70 w/ Will Waterman- Proteus Motion

Coach Adam Sits down and talks with Will Waterman, Head of Human Performance and Sports Science of Proteus Motion.

Proteus Motion’s patented technology is the only way to measure strength and power for every human movement.

To date, it has only been possible to measure physical strength and power for movements in a straight line, like a squat or a bench press. However, less than 5% of human movement is in a straight line.  Proteus Motion’s patented technology measures strength and power for 100% of human movements, creating an entirely new standard for personalized fitness and physical rehabilitation.

Strength is the ability to move against resistance. To measure strength accurately, that resistance must not change. But unless you are moving in a straight line, the resistance from existing equipment like cables and free weights changes unpredictably throughout each movement. The only way to overcome this is through constant resistance, no matter what direction you move.

Proteus Motion solved this by inventing 3D Resistance™. By providing constant resistance in all directions, 3D Resistance™ is the first-ever way to accurately measure strength and power for every movement humans can perform.

Episode #55 w/ Carl Case - Power Athlete Staff, Coach & Author

Episode #55 w/ Carl Case - Power Athlete Staff, Coach & Author

Owner and CFO Carl Case has been CrossFitting for a decade and specializes in strength and conditioning coaching for sports. "I am passionate about empowering athletes on field performance, coaching and playing rugby, learning more about business, and the strength and conditioning world. What I love most about coaching is helping an athlete or general population member take themselves to a place that they didn't know they could get to."

Growing up, Carl played just about every sport: Baseball, football, track, wrestling, basketball, and rugby. "I focused on rugby and football in high school," he says. "I continued to play rugby throughout and after college." Awards include: 3rd, 4th, and 5th national place finishes in high school rugby; Men’s D3 National Runner Up; Collegiate Michigan All-star Team; Collegiate Midwest All-star Team; Men’s Michigan All-star Team; and Men’s Midwest All-star Team.

His interest in CrossFit began in 2007 after one of the guys that he played rugby with told him about this gym he was going to,how hard and intense the workouts were, and that he should come give them a try. "I did and fell in love with it right away," he says. "I threw away the program I was doing from BodyBuilding.com and after about a year of being in it, I noticed that I was able to pick the movements well but also was able to help other members understand them. The owner of the gym asked me if I had any interest in coaching." In 2009, he got his Level 1. "When I finished college in 2010, I was trying to decided what path I wanted to take, and the answer was right in front of me. I joined Brandon in 2011, and that has been one of the best decisions of my life."

When he’s not in the gym, Carl enjoys coaching high school rugby, spending time with his fiancé and friends, and writing and traveling the country teaching seminars for Power Athlete. His favorite inspirational saying: "Kill the snake of doubt in your soul, crush the worms of fear in your heart, and mountains will move out of your way."

Jazzy's Bio:

Hello! I’m Jazzy and I am a mental performance coach that serves athletes and performers of all categories to maximize their full potential. Just like a conditioning coach teaches techniques to strengthen muscles, I teach techniques to strengthen the mind. Performances rely a lot on our mind, so when it comes to mental performance, I am referring to the psychological components of these tasks. Components like motivation, goal setting, attention control, energy management, and effective self-talk can help increase performance and consistency when leveraged correctly. I aim to meet the client's needs by creating a supportive environment that provides them with the necessary tools to thrive not only as athletes but most importantly as individuals. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Lincoln Memorial University where I also played varsity volleyball. I then obtained a Master’s degree in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology from Barry University. Throughout both degrees I have research and applied experience in the field of sport, performance, and exercise psychology working with individuals and teams at the collegiate and youth levels. Currently, I am coaching mental skills to the military population. My style includes person-centered therapy with a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I specialize in collegiate and high school athletes, mental performance in sport, performance anxiety, sport injury, sport transitions, and routine adherence. I am originally from Franklin, Tennessee and currently reside in Temple, Texas. In my free time, I enjoy going to the lake, trying new food, volleyball, and watching documentaries.

Episode #5 w/ Lauren Hyser - Owner of RXTN Nutrition

Lauren is the Founder and Owner of RXTN Nutrition. Lauren creates personalized programs that transform bodies and minds helping you achieve the 'impossible' through nutrition education, consistent habit formation, and genuine support.

From the RXTN Nutrition website:

As a coach, my goal is to ensure anyone that works with me can achieve their performance and aesthetic goals. Sifting through information about wellness and nutrition is confusing, overwhelming, contradicting, and isolating. We all feel like we are swimming in an ocean of questions unable to make the first move. If we do muster the strength to make the first move, we are often unable to stick to it and achieve our goals. I can help.

I take the science and apply it to fit your lifestyle so that you can achieve sustainable goals. I educate you on the why of the process so you can move forward without worry. I will be a consistent supporter of you reaching your fullest potential. It is time to take action. Let me create a plan designed to help you discover a breakthrough in life, training, and nutrition (they all go hand in hand).
