EP 21 - What Does it Take to Leave a Great First Impression?
Have you ever felt like a small fish in a really big sea when you meet people online? Like you’re doing everything you can to be visible, but it feels like people don’t really SEE you (or feel excited enough to reach out and start a conversation)? This week I’m going to be sharing some handy tricks I use to get noticed in every virtual networking call I attend and every social media platform I hang out on, and have complete control over the way people see me. Yes… it’s possible to do that because it’s something you engineer with your brand! Tune in to this episode to find out more :)
Having a hard time seeing how you’re coming across to others and getting seen in a crowded online space? I’d love to have a chat with you to see how we can fix that! EP 20 - How to Get Killer Brand Photos
Any awkward, camera-shy peeps in the house? I’m raising my hand with you because taking good photos is HARD — but also essential for your brand! This week, I had my first professional brand photoshoot done and I wanted to share about (1) what I did to prepare for it, (2) how I communicated with my photographer to make sure we captured the right things, and (3) what I learned from this experience that would be super helpful for you to know if you’re thinking about getting a brand photoshoot done for yourself! Needless to say, even the most camera-shy people can look awesome in front of the camera with the right kind of preparation!
As mentioned in this episode, if you’re in Vancouver and need some professional brand photos done, I HIGHLY recommend that you reach out to my friend, Brittany Gawley (IG: @brittanygawley) to get your photos done! She is AMAZING at helping you feel completely at home in front of the camera, and giving you the space you need to just show up as YOU! 📸
If you need some help preparing for your next brand photoshoot by getting clear on what your brand IS and how you want to visually express that, I have a special limited time offer for the month of April where I’m bundling my 2-hour brand strategy intensive for FREE together with my visual rebrand package, The BrandFit!! This bundle is perfect for you if you’ve been wanting to invest in a rebrand but have been holding back because you’re feeling fuzzy on what you want your rebrand to look like. I’ll include a link to my April bundle offer here if you’re interested in checking it out! 🎁

EP 19 - How Do You Know When You’ve “Outgrown” Your Brand?
It can be hard to pinpoint exactly when you should be making adjustments to your brand. When people ask me this question, my response is always, “well how do YOU feel about your brand”? Because it’s not about what looks “good” on the outside — it’s about how accurately the stuff on the outside matches the stuff inside your head. The honest truth is, no one but you will know the answer to that. In this episode, we talk about what it FEELS like when you outgrow your brand (so that you can easily pinpoint it), why it happens, and what to do to when you find yourself in this position!
As mentioned at the end of this episode... I have an offer that’s specifically designed to help you click things back into place if you find your brand feeling a bit off-kilter! It’s an epic, 2-hour brand strategy intensive called “The Brandstorm” where we do a deep dive into your audience, offer, brand identity, messaging, and brand touchpoints to ensure that all of the dots connect together — BEFORE you decide to go hands-in and make any adjustments!
This offer is available at early bird pricing for a limited time, so if you’re interested, click HERE to book a time to chat with me and see if The Brandstorm is the right fit for you!

EP 18 - Are You Networking Yourself Into Burnout? Try This!
Do you know who your dream customer is? (And no, the answer shouldn’t be “anyone who’s willing to pay for my services”)! Many entrepreneurs have a fuzzy picture of who they want to be working with. This leads them to wasting a bunch of time networking with random people, and then feeling like they need to cater their services to anyone who’s willing to take a chance on their business. If you’re finding yourself in this position, you’ll definitely want to tune into this week’s episode to learn about HOW you can define your dream customer and construct the PERFECT message & offer for them to say “yes” to!
As mentioned in the episode, here is the link to the previous episode on the topic of navigating that tricky gap between your online & offline personas and here is the link to last week’s blog post on the topic of narrowing your target!

EP 17 - Navigating That Awkward Gap Between Your Online & Offline Personas
This is exactly what I experienced when I went to my first in-person networking event for the first time in 3 years where I realized that there’s this weird “gap” between the way we present ourselves online vs. offline. This gap can cause tricky problems when you’re trying to build trust with people, only to have that weird hiccup when people feel like they need to get to know you all over again the moment you start interacting face to face. In this episode, we talk about what this “gap” is, why it happens, and what are some easy things you can do to bridge this gap so that you don’t experience that awkward moment at your next in-person networking event or virtual coffee!

EP 16 - Why Your Physical Space is an Extension of Your Brand
Why is it SO hard to show up on some days? Is it possible to create a system that helps you show up consistently, even on days when you feel like moldy sack of potatoes? The answer is… YES! (And you don’t have to sell your soul or be super fake in order to achieve it). In fact, the answer is quite simple — your physical space plays a HUGE role in the way you do (or don’t) show up in the online space. In today’s episode, we dive into the reason why that is, and how to create an “offline” environment that helps you show up at your best at ALL times, no matter how you’re feeling!

EP 15 - The Secret Formula to Building a BIG Brand
How do you build a brand that has “god status” in your industry? Is it a privilege that is only available to the chosen few, or is there a formula that we can use to replicate this for ourselves? In today’s episode, we dive in to the topic of brand equity and talk about what it IS, why it’s important, and how we can build it for ourselves. If you’re looking to expand the influence of your brand and haven’t quite figured out how to do it yet, you’ll definitely want to tune into today’s episode!

EP 14 - Sorry, No One Cares About Your Pitch.
’Tis the season… for getting pitches sent straight to your inbox from businesses who are trying to meet their year-end sales quotas before the holidays hit. If you’re finding yourself being caught up in this flurry of last-minute marketing (and you’re NOT digging it), chances are that you’ll want to approach things a bit differently with the way you market your business this holiday season. Today, we talk about attraction marketing, and how you can use it to not only get the word out there for what you do (in a completely non-intrusive way), but how to win clients over without even needing to “make the ask”. Is that even possible? You’ll want to tune in to find out more!

EP 13 - The Key to Creating Connection
What do you do when you ARE your brand but you just don’t feel like showing up one day? What if you’re in a situation where it’s not an option for you to just disappear because people are expecting you to be there? Do you just “suck it up” and put up a front, or is there a better solution? In this episode, we dive into the question of how to deal with the messy human side of your personal brand, and how to create a system that allows you to show up even on your worst days without needing to put up a face and pretend that everything is ok.

EP 12 - How "Personal" Should a Personal Brand Be
This is a question that a LOT of people ask when they start getting serious about their personal brand. It’s the big question of, “how much of ME should I actually show if this is just a thing I do for business?”… as well as, “and if I choose to NOT show some parts of me, does that mean that I can’t connect with my audience?”. And those are fair questions! It’s important for us to know how and where to set our boundaries, because that’s what will allows us to show up authentically while still keeping our own privacy. Sounds impossible? Check out the episode and I’ll show you how to do it for yourself!
On another note, I’m celebrating the launch of my community, “The Personal Branding Playground” this week! If you want to be part of a space where you get to grow your personal brand, expand your influence, and make a mess trying on new things… come check us out at the link below!👇

EP 11 - I'm Starting a Community!
After a week of drinking my own medicine and gathering responses from my audience (i.e. you guys!) about what kind of support you’re looking for with your branding, I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to do something that I’ve never done before… which is to start up my own community. This episode is a special update where I share about WHY I’m doing this and what you can be looking forward to as I build this out. Tune into this episode to find out more!

EP 10 - The Secret to Reading Your Customer's Mind with 100% Accuracy
Have you ever wished that you could just read your customer’s brain and know EXACTLY what they’re thinking? The crazy thing is… you actually can! This week, we talk about “Audience Listening” and how you can use this skill to not only read your customer’s brain with 100% accuracy, but to build trust and give value all at the exact same time. Sounds too good to be true? Tune in this episode to find out more!

EP 9 - Why Your Brand Isn't Connecting With Your Audience
Are you having a hard time connecting with your audience? Chances are, the problem isn’t your logo, colours or fonts… it’s probably something to do with your “brand messaging”. This is a term that basically refers to the “thing” you’re trying to communicate, and the WAY you’re going about it. In the world of business, we have a tendency to overcomplicate this to the point that our customers have literally no idea what we do… and that is a HUGE problem. Tune into today’s episode to learn about what is brand messaging, why it’s important, and learn the simple 4 point system that I use to simplify even the most complex brand messages!

EP 8 - The Secret to Staying "On-Brand"
How do you know what IS or ISN’T right for your brand? What do you do when you find yourself crossing a line that feels uncomfortable for you (just because someone asked you to)? This week, we’re going to be talking about the importance of setting BOUNDARIES in branding, as well as the risks of what can happen when you don’t. Because building a brand that cuts through the noise requires you to not only know who you are…. but also who you aren’t. Tune in to this episode to get all the details!

EP 7 - What You Call Yourself Matters
What’s the difference between a “Title” and a “Label”? And does it even matter what you call yourself? In this episode, we’re going to be talking about the importance of “name calling” both in the professional sense, but also in a personal sense. Because what you say to yourself in the mirror is JUST AS important as the shiny titles that you hang underneath your LinkedIn profile. In fact, what you call yourself actually dictates the way you think, feel and show up in every area of your life. Are you calling yourself something that isn’t serving you? Tune into this episode to find out what you can do about it!

EP 6 - Personal Brands vs. Business Brands: Which One's For You?
Let’s say you have a business, and you’re the only person running the show. You don’t want to appear small when you market yourself, but calling yourself an entire company also feels kinda weird. What do you do? This is the exact question we’re going to be addressing in today’s episode! We’ll be going over the difference between personal branding and business branding, why it matters, and how to know which of the two is right for you! We’ll also be talking about how it’s possible to have BOTH brands at the same time, and touch upon how it works when you find yourself in that scenario! If you’re not sure about the best way to be positioning your branding, you’ll definitely want to tune into this week’s episode!

EP 5 - The Evolution of Your Brand
I often get asked about when is the “best time” to work on your branding. Typically people think that there are 2 points in the lifecycle of your business where you should be thinking about that — at the beginning, and then at the mid-point right before you scale. But what happens to all that in-between time when you’re making tweaks adjustments to your business? Do we just wait until your branding is completely DISCONNECTED from what you (and scares away a bunch of customers) before you do a revamp, or is there a better solution to all this? Tune in to this episode to find out :)

EP 4 - What is "Branding"?
You might've heard the term "branding" being tossed around a lot in the world of business, and unfortunately in the past few years, it's developed a bit of a bad rep. A lot of people think that branding is just a marketing gimmick that businesses use to jack up the perceived value of their product / service, when in fact, it’s about knowing WHO you are, and using those unique factors to distinguish yourself and start attracting the right people your way. If that’s something you’re struggling with, you’ll definitely want to tune into this episode to get your crash course on “branding 101”!

EP 3 - No More Bullsh*t
This is the last of a 3 episode mini-series on my backstory! At the end of 2021, I was at the end of my rope. I was mentally, emotionally, physically and also financially exhausted. I figured at some point that maybe business just isn’t for me… but at the same time, I didn’t know what else I would be doing. So I started looking for answers in the most unlikely place — an online spiritual community. (And no, I’m not going to go all “woo-woo” on you here, I swear this doesn’t go the way you expect it to go). I was tired of putting up a strong front, and wanted to be in a place where I felt supported and accepted as who I was. So when I found this community, I thought that I had finally figured it out… until I realized that these people were not who I thought they were.

EP 2 - There is No “Plan B”
This is the second of a 3 episode mini-series on my backstory! The day after I quit my dream job, I cried. I was mortified because I had just gone against all of my childhood pre-programming as the over-achieving perfectionist… and my worst nightmare had come true. I made “the jump” with no parachute, and I was free-falling with no Plan B in my back pocket. So on my way down, I had no choice but to figure it out. There was SO much I realized that I didn’t know, so I went into full-out learning mode and took every single piece of advice that I could get. Unfortunately, I realized a little too late that you should be careful about who you take your advice from…

EP 1 - Perfectionists Finish Last
This is the first of a 3 episode mini-series on my backstory! Growing up in a Chinese-Canadian family, I was the kid who thought that I had it all figured out. I got straight A’s in school, I nailed everything that I put my mind to, and I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up. It’s no surprise that I ended up becoming SUPER perfectionistic, and TERRIFIED of failure. What was supposed to be a “standard of personal excellence” eventually resulted in me holding myself back from every single opportunity I had to chase my dreams… because I was afraid of disappointing myself. So when I finally decided to go for it and landed my dream job, you wouldn’t believe what happened next…
