Alucard's Bat Form & Familiars - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night 9
Alucard returns to the Long Library once again, this time with a new ability: double jump! Using the Leap Stone, Alucard can now reach places he couldn't before in the library, which allows him to get the extremely useful Bat Form! The bat form really opens up the castle for Alucard, allowing him to explore like never before!
He also gets his first familiar, the Fairy! We talk a little about the familiars and what they bring to the table.
And we talk about the Lesser Demon, the boss of the Long Library. This poor pervert is probably the easiest boss so far, and we wonder how he wound up where he did in the game.
And Sam takes us down a wild road as he tells us all about Chainsaw Man, his current obsession.
All this and more in a Fan-bat-stic episode of One Stage at a Time!

There is a whole lot to discuss in this area, laying a lot of the groundwork for the rest of the game, so don't waste any time and get into it!
We also explore the history of the man himself, Vlad the Impaler! We expand on his struggles and background, and find out why, exactly, he was such a stabby boy! So get ready for some real dark chuckles as we talk about his atrocities and how he got away with some madness!
And keep a sharp ear out for a special guest, who was just way too intrigued by the mention of Matthias Corvinus!

Alucard tears his way through some minions and confronts Death itself as he ventures forth into Dracula's Castle! His items are stripped from him and he must begin with nothing, Death taunting him as he goes.
We discuss this first section, as well as speculate as to the nature of Dracula's Castle. We also dig into Alucard, the man-vampire himself, in the lore corner! Is he a true hero, or does he have some skeletons in his closet?
Then Sam gives us his thoughts on the new Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter: Rise for the Nintendo Switch!
And lastly, we chuckle about the glowing, suspicious reviews that Balan Wonderworld is receiving!

The Best Designed Level in Doom - DOOM 34: They Will Repent
We discuss “They Will Repent,” the fifth level in episode 4 of DOOM (1993)! While it’s underwhelming in regards to challenge, we all agree that this level is designed fantastically! From the river of blood to the ACTUAL BUILDING feel, we can’t get enough. But does that turn things around for the final episode, or are we still over DOOM?
And we discuss the Sonic the Hedgehog shake-ups! New voice actors! New show! But Robotnik abides.
Speaking of Sonic, Yuji Naka & Naoto Ohshima’s new game, Balan Wonderworld, has released a demo and Andy gives his thoughts on the gameplay.

DoomGuy Destroys His Perfect Hole - DOOM 33: Unruly Evil
We discuss the easiest level in episode 4 of DOOM, Unruly Evil! A very short, very inoffensive, nothing bad but nothing particularly good stage. We discuss how a level like this works in the game and how it could be improved upon. And we speculate on the one truly interesting aspect of the level: the hole. We speculate on how DoomGuy would handle Junji Ito’s classic comic, The Enigma of Amigara Fault (though we can’t remember the name).
And we must be a little stir-crazy from this pandemic because we once again bring up everyone’s favorite gecko, Gex!
Then we discuss the ongoing WallStreetBets, Gamestop, and Robinhood situation! How have things changed and where do things go from here?
We also speculate on G4 and how it’s going to do. Aaron does not care.

Doom's Dumbest Secrets - DOOM 32: Sever the Wicked
Sever the Wicked has dozens of secrets, and we hate them all. We take on E4M3, from DOOM (1993), Thy Flesh Consumed!
Class A war criminal Shawn Green designed a level that gives us some confounding and annoying secrets. He sics shotgun snipers on us and teleports us all over the place!
We also talk about DOOM Eternal and our feelings on the gameplay. Also, Aaron can't handle it without playing on baby mode.
We take a dive into Shawn Green as best we can, but the man is a mystery wrapped in an enigma!
This is one of the first DLCs, and we ask whether there is ANY good DLC?
And y'all remember old school Adult Swim? Cuz we do, as we're old men, and we reminisce about our favorites!
Then we discuss the ridiculous XBox Live price hike and the fallout from it!
We also analyze /r/WallStreetBets and GameStop and the insane fiasco happening there!
And finally we celebrate Ryan Haywood getting banned from Twitch and Sasha Grey kicking ass at Doom Eternal!

This is the first level of DOOM designed by Tim Willits! We discuss his career and design aesthetic. How did he join the team and avoid the wrath of John Carmack? And is he a dirty stinking liar? John Romero seems to think so! Then, finally, the question we're all wondering about - What is a pogchamp? All this AND MORE in a credit-stealing episode of One Stage at a Time!

We take on our first level designed by notorious designer, American McGee! This is also the first level of the fourth episode of DOOM, Thy Flesh Consumed, which was added years afters DOOM's initial release! We are battling our way through Hell Beneath, from DOOM!
Did we like American McGee's first go at DOOM, or was this tiny level a misfire? It's certainly challenging, but is it good?
We also talk about how American came to be a part of the DOOM team, as well as his other gaming endeavors!

Then we discuss Hell Keep, the first level of DOOM, episode 3! Is it super hard or is it a walk in the hell park? Let’s talk!
And finally we talk about possibly the spoopiest game ever made, the 2000 AD classic Daikatana! Yes, John Romero makes us his bitch as we do a deep dive into the debacle that was Daikatana’s development. The horror…the horror…

On the Sixth Day, God LOL'd - DOOM 18: Tower of Babel
In this Scenario…We’re God
We talk The Tower of Babel! The final level in Episode 2 of DOOM (1993)! We take on the dreaded, imposing CYBERDEMON! This towering boss gives us a hell of a fight and we talk every aspect of it! Rockets! Lost souls! Crucified Barons of Hell!
Aaron talks about his venture into being a mobile gamer. So far? It’s sad.
We talk movies! Ernest Borgnine kills hobos on his murder train! Andy and Sam inform Aaron about the glorious film Emperor of the North Pole! Harvey Keitel duels the entire world in The Duelist!
Andy gives us another dramatic reading of the novelization of DOOM! We’re allowed to witness the first crack in DOOMGuy’s psyche as he sees his first zombie Zombie ZOMBIE!
We also dig into the history of John Romero, John Carmack, and Adrian Carmack! They started off at Softdisk together and ran quite the crazy scheme in order to make their games! Classic games such as Commander Keen! Which Adrian hated. Is Commander Keen related to both Doom Guy and BJ Blazkowicz?
And be sure to stick around to the very end for a very special message from Sam Ingersoll!

We talk about the sadness happening over at Rooster Teeth!
Aaron wants to play Star Wars instead of DOOM! But why?
Andy gives us a dramatic reading from the DOOM novelization!
Sam gives us a rundown of DOOM 64! “DOOM 64 is fun, but it’s not good.”
We also talk about The Spawning Vats! Is this level any good? Is it too much? Lots of imps & pinkies! Is DOOM set in The Lord of the Rings universe? Have y’all ever punched out a Baron of Hell?
Also: Tom Hall made no money from Doom. The 3DO version of DOOM was going to have live action cutscenes! We check it out.
And we nerds yell about Superman v. Batman & Justice League!

The Death of E3 & Resurrection of G4 - DOOM 16: Halls of the Damned

We Can't Comprehend the Fortress of Mystery - DOOM 15
We discuss the biggest melee so far in DOOM as we take on 4 Barons of Hell and 10 Cacodemons! Just what IS this level? Sam cannot wrap his head around it. What are these barons doing here? Why does this fortress appear and disappear from the map? Is this the level that got Sandy Petersen his coveted job?
And we return to the Lore Corner as we talk about the DOOM novel series! It is some deep lore. Are the demons more than they seem to be? Yes, and it’s very dumb. Also, fortunately, not canon for the games. And say hello to Ken, the cybermummy!
Andy tweets with a Titan of Gaming, Steve Mayles!
Old Man Nintendo turns 131 and sure does act like a cantankerous geezer!
We are definitely NOT going to beat up Stephen Fry.
We talk the big purchase! Microsoft buys Zenimax, and now owns every shooter ever made, including DOOM!

I Think That Was a Boob - DOOM 14: Command Center
We work our way through the Command Center, the 14th level of DOOM!
This absolutely massive level had a ton of enemies, interesting secrets, and downright titillating areas of Cronenberg/cenobite/Lovecraftian nightmares. We discuss and argue about the number of enemies and tactics for killing them!
We also spend some time discussing LOST and how John Locke made everything worse. Was it a stupid show? Yeah, probably, but DOOM is some tight storytelling! Angry man with gun shoots demons. Perfection.
Then we spend time some time talking about how terrifying Mike Tyson still is and his Punch-Out game legacy!
AND let's talk about 90's male TV stars and their bad takes. Starring such awful-opinion-havers such as Dean Cain, Kevin Sorbo, and Adam Baldwin!
All this AND MORE as we get absolutely kerfucked by Barons of Hell in this mysterious box of an episode of One Stage at a Time!

We Beat Sonic the Hedgehog for the Game Gear - Sonic GG 18: Sky Base Zone Act 3
We finally finish Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Game Gear! Yes, it's a shorter game, but it certainly felt longer as we struggled through pale imitations of better Sonic games. But we arrived at the final boss of the game, Doctor Robotnik (surprise!), and take him down!
We discuss our favorite parts of Sonic the Hedgehog, which levels stood out and which were our least favorite. We also talk about Dr. Robotnik's strange fetish, the multiple endings of the game, and the state of Sonic games in general.

We tackle Sky Base Zone: Act 2!
And we hate it.
Sonic the Hedgehog struggles through the level, though we are unaware of a simple solution to all of Sonic's problems. We also discuss the classic film "The Rocketeer" and the timelessness of its anti-Nazi message!

Also in this episode:
Aaron passes the cognitive test!
DOOM and golf are one and the same?
The army and navy are using murder simulators to recruit children?
DOOM is probably the most Christian and American game ever made!

It's an interesting stage, but maybe not good?
Also, we discuss Robotnik and his relationship with the woodland creatures and the Overlanders! Also, woodland creatures are apparently excellent at warfare and murdering people.

We learn the secrets and discuss new items found within the level, such as the hazmat suit! We are confused then in love with how DOOM teaches us how to play without teaching us!
We also wonder what in the hell happened with streaming and Doctor Disrespect a few weeks ago.

We obliterate the Toxin refinery, from DOOM (1993)! We encounter new and dangerous enemies, new exciting weapons, and Aaron finds none of the fascinating secrets this level has to offer! What lies beyond the pool of poison before us? Aaron doesn't know!
Also, DOOM introduces us to gibbing! Do they guys prefer games where you carry a couple weapons at a time, a la Gears of War, or the DOOM style, where you're loaded up with all your weapons? What do we really think about the Church of Satan? And should Tim Allen be cancelled?

If so, why make an inferior version of a Genesis level? Is it the first real misstep of the Game Gear version?
We also take a deep dive in the lore corner, this time focused on the chaos emeralds! What are they? Where did they come from?
