Enron is mostly known for its accountancy fraud. But it was also investigated for its market manipulation and gaming strategies in the California energy market at the start of the millennium. This article analyzes Enron's activities from the perspective of organizational corruption, and how it developed inter-organizational networks to facilitate its gaming strategies. Highlights Historical methods contribute to greater plurality in international business. They can enable research into phenomena that are difficult to observe or access. They provide a richer and contextually sensitive understanding of institutions. Historical accounts focus on events as key elements of long-run processes.
