Vocation. We have been called by God. And we are called, at all times. But to what? What does it mean to follow a divine call? Is it really worthwhile? These are some of the question we will consider on this feast of Saint Martha.

What is the purpose of life? How do we find God's will in our life? In Matthew chapter 19, Jesus teaches us through encounters with different people. On the one hand, we must learn the original plan of God, inscribed in creation and the natural moral law. On the other hand, God invites us to transcend the limits of this plan, and open ourselves to a higher logic, which is revealed in his Cross and Resurrection. Learning to become like little children before God, expecting everything from Him alone.

We often wonder what God's will for our life is. In the sermon on the mount (Matthew 5), Jesus gives us an answer. It is an answer that may not seem so practical, but it goes to the heart of the matter. God's will for our lives is not a rulebook to fulfill. It is an interior attitude that changes everything from the inside. The perfect example of this interior attitude is found in Jesus Christ himself, who teaches us to do everything for God's glory and for the salvation of souls.
