Baseball and Spies and Life and Writing

Duncan reflects on two baseball seasons 61 years apart and tells us writing is just like baseball. Kinda. We wind up our look at the reader magnet, Prologue to Revenge. And Duncan is on the road, keeping an eye out for spies, on a trip to Columbia, Maryland, for a book event.

Also, October will bring a celebration of the two-year anniversary of the series Self-Inflicted Wounds with reduced prices for the eBooks and some free days thrown in.

Does Romance Belong in Espionage?

Does Romance Belong in Espionage?

It does, but not how you've been conditioned to think of it. Some fans do go for exploitation of either sex, but mostly it's women being exploited, but some fans and some espionage writers think romance, or at least a hint of it, has a place among the spies.

Find out how I balance a hint of romance against the action in any of my books at my Amazon Author Page. (amazon.com/author/phyllisduncan).

My reader magnet for the upcoming series, Meeting the Enemy, is available to download for FREE. Find "Out of the Ordinary" at dl.bookfunnel.com/vpayastekc.

And. . . drum roll . . . I have a new preorder available--Quintet, which is now a novella-sized eBook only compilation of the four reader magnets for my first series, A Perfect Hatred, plus a bonus story. Preorder for your Kindle at amazon.com/dp/B09VFQ4SXZ. For other eBook providers, preorder at https://books2read.com/u/3R6d6x. Quintet launches on April 1--no fooling!

Vary Your Pattern/Stay Within Your Cover

Vary Your Pattern/Stay Within Your Cover

The next Moscow Rule is "Vary Your Pattern and Stay Within Your Cover"--again a somewhat long and cumbersome story title, so I wrote two stories. "Vary Your Pattern" takes us back to the early 1990s when Edwin Terrell, Jr. is still alive and Mai and Alexei are struggling to accustom their lives, personal and professional, to raising Alexei's granddaughter Natalia. "Stay Within Your Cover" is an examination of debating whether or not to do the right thing. If you don't someone might die; if you do, your cover's blown. Spy Flash III: The Moscow Rules launches in 10 days.
