People have a prudent duty to analyze expenses, budget and adjust accordingly. This is becoming more and more important as the economy continues to weaken and we take inventory of the products and services we're paying for. A few things we can't live without are food, shelter, and Netflix, so that means everything else is labeled a "luxury". All kidding aside, these are desperate times for many - especially those on a fixed income, and near, or in retirement. Those folks are not going to have more time for their portfolio's to grow fast enough or have the ability to work and make more money. Income for that segment of the population is struggling to find ways so they can survive in their retirement years with dignity due to the rate of inflated costs they're seeing at the grocery stores and other compulsory living expenses. One of those costs can be advisory fees. The next consideration is cost vs value and this is something addressed on this episode of the podcast. It's an independent opinion and an important one.

Things are putting a smile on the faces of many investors as the markets continue their consistent trend upwards. Happy New Year, and welcome to the first episode of 2023! It's year five and our 86th episode under our belt. Thanks again for clients and prospects listening to and supporting the show. A New Year usually brings about change in several different ways. Don't get too cozy with rules because the only thing consistent is that they change - all the time. We barely scratch the surface and look at the Secure Act 2.0 that passed days before the new year. The act changes a number of things relating to retirement plans, distributions, penalties, and a bunch more that impact business owners. Will the act's passage make things safer, more transparent and more straightforward? To be determined. One thing it does is preserve job security for #advisors, #attorneys, and #CPAs. The markets show promise, and retail investors seem to be loosening their seat belts just a couple of days into 2023. Could this mean we might have a soft landing where seat belts are optional? The first few months should indicate if the economy and the market could somehow ease away from a recession. Don't get ready for the airbags to deploy just yet!
