There is much confusion about whether believers should speak in tongues in church settings. "There must be an interpreter present" "Unbelievers will think you're crazy". These statements are made based off a misinterpretation of the Apostle Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 14. The Christians in Corinth misused this gift and this began to cause confusion among the church, so Paul set parameters in place that would stop the confusion and cause the Church to be edified during gatherings. He did not discourage the public expression of tongues in church settings. The bible lets us know that light and darkness cannot co-exist; every time light shows up, darkness comes subject to it. Believers have been called the light of the world and they have been charged to let their light shine before people. If we are walking and the light and letting it shine, there is no way for the enemy to snuff it out and overtake us because darkness is never able to overcome light.
