Be the change you want to see within an organisation

In this episode of Walk the Talk we are delighted to be joined by Matt Vickers for this conversation. Matt is a practising Integrative Psychotherapist and a  Corporate Mental Health specialist - recently leaving BP where he played a pioneering role in driving a culture of wellbeing. The conversation covers human connection in the corporate world. We will look at why this is important and how it is weaved into an organisations culture. We unpack the power of culture and how we drive positive shifts within organisations - did you know it requires just 13.5% of an organisations workforce to be on board to start a movement. We take stock and look at the easy wins for an organisation - from Conversation Cafe’s to a regular drumbeat of wellbeing and mental health inspiration. And if you are interested in learning more about our Mental Health Awareness Training this page details more about how we support businesses when it comes to safeguarding employees from a mental health perspective. We’ve also created a special How to Hybrid Well(being) Series of mindset talks to help raise individual and collective awareness amongst employees during this time of change, so that they have the tools to help themselves and each other, so they can perform to their best regardless of the circumstances - reach out to us at be_well@point3wellbeing.com Be well, be happy, be you. Unpacking psychological safety

Unpacking psychological safety

Listen to our webcast with Executive Coach and HR consultant, Gemma Bullivant FCIPD PCC where we unpack psychological safety, why it’s so important in the remote world of work at the moment, why it’s the core ingredient to high performing individuals and teams and ways to promote a culture of psychological safety in the workplace. As discussed in our previous episode with Dr Megan Swanson, employee burnout is on the rise… so we need to look at ways we can reduce this in the workplace… and one of the first things an employer can do is promote a culture of psychological safety… as this encourages people to talk openly and to ask for help where needed. And it’s arguably even more important to discuss this today… as it is more difficult than ever to create a culture of psychological safety due to the remote / hybrid nature of how we are working. It requires more trust and engagement than ever before… so the more awareness and consideration we can apply to how we are approaching our conversations and managing our teams at the moment with the principles of psychological safety, the more engaged employees will be, leading to higher performing teams. Check out our dedicated page about our Building Resilient and High Performing Teams manager training which covers psychological safety. And if you are interested in learning more about our Mental Health Awareness Training  this page details more about how we support businesses when it comes to safeguarding employees. How to burn bright and avoid burn out

How to burn bright and avoid burn out

In this Walk the Talk episode we talk with NHS clinical psychologist, Dr. Megan Swanson, M.Ed., PsyD where we discuss burnout, and ways to burn bright in 2021 and beyond. Burnout is defined by the W.H.O as an occupational phenomena caused by chronic workplace stress. It is of increasing concern for people as we navigate the modern day stresses of life and the changing ways we work as a result of the pandemic. And while there is no single panacea for burnout, there are steps that organisations and individuals can take to help mitigate the risk of burnout. In this first episode of Walk the Talk we chat with clinical psychologist Dr Megan Swanson about the rise of burnout during the pandemic. We look at stress, the stress cycle and why we get ill after a prolonged period of being in the stress state, before we discuss solutions to overcome stress and to avoid burnout. And if you are interested in learning more about our Mental Health Awareness Training this page details more about how we support businesses when it comes to safeguarding employees from a mental health perspective. We’ve also created a special How to Hybrid Well(being) Series of mindset talks to help raise individual and collective awareness amongst employees during this time of change, so that they have the tools to help themselves and each other, so they can perform to their best regardless of the circumstances. Breath for clarity

Breath for clarity

In today’s conversation we’re delighted to be joined by Allie Williams as we discuss the science and theory that shows just how powerful the breath to regain balance and control in our busy lives. We finish today’s conversation with a 15 minute breathworks experience. Allie Williams embodies a busy professional - she works in the corporate world of comms + PR which she manages alongside her busy career as a yoga instructor + breathworks trainer. She tells us about how using simple breathing techniques has enabled her to manage her work load, her ADD and to support her friends. In advance: Any comfortable seat that allows you to find a long, straight spine will help through the practical breathworks experience. Session Disclaimer - we won’t be doing stressful breath holds however depending on your state of mind the holds might be stressful - if this is the case return to your own natural breathing rhythm. For individuals with asthma we’re looking at controlling the pace of the breathing rather than creating anything artificial If you’re interested in hearing more about this experience or any other training to help your people stress less and smile more then please do reach out to us through be_well@point3wellbeing  In the meantime, enjoy the conversation. How to optimise your hybrid / remote work strategy

How to optimise your hybrid / remote work strategy

Listen to our conversation with Adam Jones, CEO Venn Media where we discuss how to hybrid and remote work well. This time of change is an opportunity for organisations to reimagine their workplace… culturally, as well as practically, so that it’s one that is as high performing as it can be, and meets the needs of both the organisation and its people. On the back of the launch of Remote-First, an online community of remote first leaders, Adam shared his perspective on the remote first workplace, what it means, how it works and how to create a positive, thriving remote first workplace culture that supports the mental health and wellbeing of people… Listen to hear us discuss the challenges and opportunities that remote first working presents an organisation and its people, how to maintain culture and collaboration, how to help employees find that elusive work-life balance and other ways to ensure the mental health and wellbeing of people in a remote working model is prioritised as much as possible. This is a fascinating conversation whether you are considering a hybrid/remote working model of working or not. There’s lots in here for leaders and HR professionals interested in the mental health and wellbeing of their people. Busting the stigma of mental health in the workplace

Busting the stigma of mental health in the workplace

Listen to our conversation with Dan Strachan, Crisis Recovery Service Coordinator at Richmond Borough Mind charity, where we discuss the stigma that surrounds stress, burnout and mental ill health in the workplace and ways to help bust stigma at an individual and organisational level. Stigma is sadly one the main reasons that holds people back from moving from minimum mental wellbeing to maximum mental wellbeing. And there are some staggering statistics around stress, mental ill health and the associated stigma: 1 in 5 people take a day off due to stress. Yet, 90% of these people cited a different reason for their absence (Time to Change charity). 60% said that stigma and discrimination are as, or more, damaging than the symptoms of their mental health problem (Institute of Psychiatry). Less than half of employees say they would feel able to talk openly with their line manager if they were suffering from stress (Time to Change charity). So, the more we as individuals and as organisations can do to help break down this stigma, then the more likely people will be to open up and go on to seek the appropriate help and support that they might need. And if you are interested in learning more about our Mental Health Awareness Training  – this page details more about how we support businesses when it comes to safeguarding employees.
