Tampa = Beat Up Tired looking Team all year. Dallas = good mojo even w/ injuries. Travel to Tampa - Brady still tough - Quinn needs to mix in tricky match zone vs Brady. IF Tampa shows up for this one, it will be a wire to wire close game!

Harbaugh transforming and old team with young blood - like Seattle. Unlike Seattle he's still in the middle of the process. Injuries continue to be a problem. Lamar Jackson continues to be absent. Bengals are on a roll and you can see the high energy! Injuries could screw them - Oline and CB...but Burrow is better than last year as is the entire team. Expect some cool tweaks from ZTaylor/Callahan on O and Anarumo on D. Ravens have to power the ball, control the clock and let their improved D win them the game... a lot to ask w/o Jackson at the helm.

Two 1st Year Head Coaches who played a great game Christmas Eve. O'Connell's Vikings are the NFL's version of TCU. Out of 13 wins only 2 weren't close. Crazy comebacks and last second wins all year! Giants have slid under the radar a bit, but Daboll has done a great job. Some injs and a tough schedule the 2nd Half of the Season, but a newfound passing attack and great games at end of the year. Giants can pull this one off, but it's in the Minny Dome again and it's going to be tough again to finish off this veteran led team!

Strong job by first year coach McDaniel, but still a banged up team including Tua. Bills had an emotional and physical roller coaster ride this year. Now it's playoff time - time for Bills LBs and Allen to man up! Could this be the start of their SB Run? Or is the inconsistency still going to be an issue?

Two young teams w/ strong seasons down the stretch. Chargers an older more solid team, but dealing with injuries again. Jags on a high - like Seattle - plus at home.  Doug Pederson has experience and is a master - this will not be easy for SD! (yes I called them San Diego!)

The Culture Rebirth by Pete Carroll? Does Seattle really have a shot and how? Shanahan w/ another strong Point Guard for his OScheme and Scheme + Talent on D. Injuries - who needs to play for their Teams to Win? Three Scenarios - I'm picking the Middle Score.

TCU emotionally crashed after a crazy year against a team with more talent - RELAX!! DOESN'T MEAN THEY SUCK! The facts are that TCU this year could have beaten any school on any given day and GA is not yet a dynasty and probably won't be in the near future with the way CFootball is headed. Done - Fans/Media and even Coaches need to stop with all the ADD NONSENSE! AND I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR "TOO EARLY" RANKINGS FOR NEXT YEAR! Live here not in the future!

Talent to GA. Technique & Scheme a wash. Magic to TCU What do we have here?  GA up early, punched in mouth, but holds on or... TCU does to GA what they did to Ohio State as the complete a Magical Ride!

Tulane is the real deal! Not as much a surprise as you think! Willie Fritz has always been an excellent coach. USC big struggles on D - players missing on O. Do they even want to be playing this game? Tulane can win and will win if Caleb doesn't play. If Caleb plays this is a toss up. All depends who wants it more.. who do you think that is?

Mike Leach's out of the box philosophy forever changed this game. Amazingly Bret Bielema  has finally shifted to Power Spread w/ an innovative DC in Ryan Walters and a Chad Morris guy as his OC.  Walters showing signs of an Aggressive FLEXIBLE Variety still rare in the game. Influences from Barry Odom + Bill Belichick (Bielema spent time w/ the Pats&Giants) I really like the talent and schemes on Illinois, but they are missing some key players and EVERYONE will be behind Miss St. Could they be TOO fired up?

OSU NEEDS:  1-Finish Drives 2-Create D Explosives 3-Imprint the Ryan Day Culture!  GEORGIA NEEDS:  1-Keep the Culture train rolling 2-More consistency from the youngsters

TCU players and coaches have never been to the CFP. Like Michigan last year, they could be in for a beating. After seeing their B12 Ch Game, I felt that there is something about this TCU team. They won't go away. They may go down by a lot early, but they will come back. They just seem to be one of those teams that comes along every once in a while. In saying that, they are the worst of the 4 Playoff Teams and the biggest surprise by far. Yet, the good weather will be to their advantage as will be the location in Arizona. Put your money on Michigan, no doubt, but don't be surprised either if TCU pulls of another shocker in this College Football Year.

Slight letdown Michigan. Great fight all game from Purdue! JJ is on fire. Edwards is better than Corum. Just as shifty w/ power and breakaway speed! Brohm with nice schemes/calls on Offense. His team never gave up! He's off to Louisville. Can his successor keep this program heading in the right direction?

Up and down game. Both in Energy + Quality. Georgia was a little flat at the start of both halves, giving up big pass plays to Daniels and his backup - talented Nussmeir.  The 2nd Qtr Georgia punched LSU in the mouth and took over as LSU seemed to totally fall apart. To their credit they fought the whole game, but the jury is still out on what Brian Kelly will build going forward.  No jury is out on Kirby Smart. GA has great talent, schemes and for the most part execution. They have been up and down all year, while still going undefeated. IF they stay more consistent in the Playoffs no one will beat them. Big If...

Will these two teams be able to score any points. Iowa averages 17 a game!! It's going to be played in the rain in Tennessee. Perfect. On a bright note, KY fired their OC and Eddie Gran is involved in the scheme/gameplan again. Neither team has their regular season QBs but that could be a good thing.  Iowa wants revenge, but with a strong D and possibility of a creative gameplan, KY "should" be the favorite.  Then again, it's Kirk Ferentz. The ole ball coach has a great culture and you know his team will be ready to go. Will he come up with some offensive creativity w/ the xtra time to prepare?

KSU under Chris Klieman are the ultimate warriors. Can they hang in there vs against a still incredibly talented Bama team with most of their players expected to suit up? Expect a fighting KSU to take advantage of any letdowns throughout the game by Bama. But Bryce Young in front of a home crowd is not one I'd bet against.  Would I take KState and the points though?

Amazing performance by two teams with BIG CULTURE just balling out!  KState's Defense shocked me in both scheme and how well they played with so many players injured vs a top offense.   TCU Defense and team in general started to look tired late Then it became the Max Duggan show. TCU came up just inches short on Goaline stand in OT. They will not be an easy out in the playoffs.

Both QBs out for this game..bad for Tenn...good for Clemson. This is Cade Klubnik's team now after a big ACC Ch Game. Both teams missing some players, but Clemson still has a load of talent and depth. Plus, their schemes are better than you think. Can Tennessee tighten up on D and keep Clemson out of the endzone as they have been doing to teams all year?

Big game from Clemson and their QB as I said in my preview...I just had the wrong QB! DJ Uiagalelei benched in favor of Cade Klubnik who balled out for a big win! The schemes for Clemson looked good actually..more of a execution/leadership issue that is a work in progress due to all the attrition of assts on Swinney's staff over the years. NC Offense behind QB Drake Maye drove the ball all game, but couldn't finish and the game got away from them.

Two strong programs in transition. This game had both quality and breakdowns. Big issue for BSU was their inexperienced QB Green and too much pro scheme from their OC Koetter.  Fresno had more aligned schemes and the vet QB. Still they needed SpTeams and a big interception to win this game.

Is Craig Bohl's strong culture starting to show cracks? Their star RB is off the team and many other players missing for this game. Ohio wants to finish out a surprisingly good year on a high note after a bad loss vs Toledo in the MAC Ch Game. Ohio will be motivated and better than their last game, but Wyoming has won their last 3 bowls under Bohl (no pun).  Because of all the attrition for Wyoming, Ohio should be the favorite, but Bohl will have whatever players he has left ready to go. A real battle and tough one to forecast!

Two teams came on strong down the stretch. SC w/ two huge b2b wins over Tennessee  & Clemson. Who finishes the season strong? SC is missing a lot of players for this game, but ND is missing the best players.  In Florida so more of a home game for SC. Beamer has this team fired up.  ND should be the favorite, but if Rattler has another big game vs a depleted ND Defense, then look for the upset in this one.

Pitt lost their star QB from last year, but worse - their star OC. For this game Pitt is missing their star RB and a ton of players on D! UCLA's 1-2 punch of QB Thompson + RB Charbonnet may still opt-out. Along with WRs Bobo&Allen. These guys need to play for UCLA to pull off the win in Texas.

Disappointing finish for both teams. Especially NC State who was looking for a big year.  Dave Doeren has a strong programs, but has yet to get to that elusive 10 win mark. This seemed like the year, but with a multitude of injs, including their star QB, there was too much to overcome late in the year. Maryland is a program on the rise with Mike Locksley, but they still haven't figured out how to beat the big boys. They also dealt with an injured star QB throughout the year, but he's back for this game. Unfortunately, 3 of his WRs will not be playing. Two really good Defenses and some time to see what the coaches come up with on Offense. NCSt seems fired up to finish on a high note. Can Taulia save the day for Maryland?

Finally a playoff type of Bowl Game.  Kalen DoBoer had a big first year in Washington with Penix as his QB. Strong D as well and surprising to me that they are underdogs.  Steve Sarkisian is bringing Texas back. Huge Defensive improvement this year, but somewhat disappointing QB play by Ewers. They are without their fantastic RB and LB and possibly others.  A lot of eyes will be on this game. It's a chance for Penix to show what he can do. It's also a home game for Texas, so Ewers will have the crowd on his side in his home state. He will be fired up to show he's worthy of all the talk.  Interesting to see how this plays out, but definitely Washington had the better year and all their players are ready to go. 

OU has had a rough year, but you never know. They have the Talent + Schemes for an upset. FSU has had a huge turnaround. Could have been even better than 9-3. Strong Defense with a Dynamic QB leading them on Offense.  OU is missing both OTs + their RB and basically playing on the road with the game in Florida. Can QB Gabriel pull off an angelic-like miracle?

PJ Fleck has his original OC Kirk Ciarrocca back for a team that relies on the Power Run Game and a great Pass Defense to win games. Will his veteran QB Tanner Morgan come back from injury for one last hurrah!? Syracuse has lost both Coordinators, their talented RB and 3/4 of their strong Defensive Backfield. Can they somehow take advantage of having a "Home Game" in Yankee Stadium and rock-n-roll behind their Dual-Threat QB Shrader?

Great job by Joey McGuire getting a resurgent TTech program to a Bowl in his first year. Dealt with injuries all year, but his Culture of Team (next man up) prevailed throughout the year. Ole Miss has a strong Offense and better than advertised D. Lost some tough games at the end after a 7-0 start, but should be ready to roll in this one.  It's in Texas, but McGuire will need his Team Culture to come through again as they are missing a monster OLB in Tyree Wilson for this one.

Two strong Offenses led by Dual Threat QBs. An improving D vs a D that continues to struggle. A strong Culture w/ players ready to finish the year with a bang in front of a lot of their fans. An improving Culture that has limped into Bowl Season looking for redemption. You make the pick but from my viewpoint, with all the DBs out in this game for NC, Derek Maye and the Offense will need to finish Drives and score points to have any chance vs a very strong, motivated Oregon team under 1st yr HC Dan Lanning. 

Leipold is turning KU around fast, but a rough ending to the year with a beat up team. Pittman looked like he had a strong culture heading into this year, but after a tough end to the year questions abound.  Arkansas is still the stronger team, but they are missing a ton of player, while KU is getting theirs back. Arkansas the better team but does that equate to a win?

There was a lack of effort on both Ds and cohesiveness on both Os for much of the game.  Wisconsin's Power PS Offense is more simple in what it does, so the execution started coming from that side first. Still, very flat energy on both Defenses until late in the game. Suddenly, OkSt exploded and Wisc followed suit. Soon the whole crowd was into it and we had an amazing bowl finish! In the words of the famous Vince Lombardi..."What the hell's going on out there!??" Should we play these Bowl Games? Should we have a Transfer Portal? Different mindsets from Coaches,Players,Media,Fans...and Analysts... I will go with my favorite line .. DKS .. Don't Know Shit... It's something still in Discovery mode...

Mike Elko has turned around Duke in what was supposed to be a major rebuilding year! Defense has improved tremendously with a bunch of no-name blitzing DBs! Offense led by underrated dual threat QB Riley Leonard! UCF has to have more passion on D than they showed in the AAC Ch Game. Gus has to come up with something special w/ so many players missing including  his two dynamic QBs.

What's up with Malzahn's Power Spread Scheme and Culture? Tulane's Willie Fritz made a successful shift from Spread Option to the PS Pro Multiple  of Jim Svoboda. What's the future hold for Malzahn's Offense as Chip Lindsey takes off for another job...again?

Down years for both teams and another **itshow of a bowl game. The list of players transferring or opting out is enormous on both sides. Both starting QBs are gone.  New Wisconsin Coach Luke Fickell will be on the sidelines. Even with a ton of guys missing on both O & D, I think Jim Leonhard's team will ball out for him one last time.  OKSt is in better shape as most of the guys opting out are on D, where they've struggled all year anyway. They have depth at RB +WR and their backup QBs have played all year.  Will a depleted Wisconsin use what they have left - strong OLine+RBs+defensive scheme of Leonhard - to fight for their leader or will OKSt play motivated and create enough Offense to overcome a bad Defense?

Mike Houston's improving EC program will be ready to roll behind QB Ahlers. CC lost their HC, but have their QB back and McCall is a baller! What happens in the heat of battle when the game is on the line and the players aren't relying as much on scheme + execution, but on instinct? Which team wins in those scenarios?

Memphis hot early, struggled late. Opposite for Utah St. Which team had a tougher journey?  Utah St was banged up all year. Are they still missing a lot of players? Is their star RB Tyler really going to play?  Memphis has a strong DBackfield and a solid QB. Will their talented pair of RBs, Ducker and Martin, rise to the occasion and provide the Power that Memphis has been missing.

Clay Helton switched GA Southern from the Triple Option to the Spread and gets a big year from QB Vantrease who transferred from Buffalo! Now they play what is essentially a home game for them in the Camellia Bowl. With 2 of their 3 RBs injured + their TE and C missing, will Buffalo still be able to rely on their dynamic rush attack and create big plays with their strong pass defense?  

Two 6-6 teams. Ugh! But hold on .. credit due HC of NMSU Jerry Kill resurrecting a moribund program rather quickly.  PS Option Offense of Tim Beck (not the Beck you're thinking) and a talented Defensive Front 7 led by LBs Brohard & Mojo Ojoh (I didn't make those names up!). BG QB McDonald had a good year and teams up with WR Helaire for some Buddy Ball. Decent D led by Sackmeister Brooks. Can NMSU hang on for Kill's first ever Bowl Win or are we seeing another Mickey D comeback w/ McDonald & Helaire?

CC didn't show up with their great HC Jamie Chadwell about to exit stage left! All the credit to Jon Sumrall in his first year at Troy - great D + underrated O.

Dequan Finn played. Kurt Rourke did not. Ohio is back on track, but Toledo is the best team this year.

Whittingham Culture and DScheme + Ludwig OScheme. Riley's Transfer Talent on O vs D + Grinch's innovative Schemes. Caleb Williams & Cam Rising are BALLERS! What's the future hold for these 2 Programs? One new. One established.

QB Harris and the UTSA Briles Style Offense fantastic from the start. NT QB Aune played well but Harris played better.  NTexas fell behind fast after having the early momentum, but never gave up. HC Littrell was doing something right because his kids fight for him. Still he was fired after the game with too many middling seasons in a row.

How could the sloppiest Bowl Game so far maybe be the best one yet?  Has Hoke finally seen the light, leading SDSU into a PS future w/ Kurt Mattix and his PS Defense! Stockstill tough! He's close to getting this MTSU ship headed in a consistent winning direction again.

Two middle of the road teams playing on Christmas Eve.   SDSU overrated this year coming off their surprising 2021 season, but sport a top notch defense using the Rocky Long / Joe Lee Dunn 3-3 Stack. Brady Hoke has finally gone more PS with dual threat QB Mayden after a terrible start offensively.  Rick Stockstill runs a top notch program at MTSU, but has struggled some lately. His up-tempo PSAR offense has slowed down and the D has struggled this year with inexperience + injuries.  Still, I think MTSU has a shot in this game. SDSU won games they were supposed to at the end then was shut down by Air Force. They should be fired up for this Christmas game in Hawaii, but so should MTSU. I like what DC Shafer has done overall in his time at MTSU. They have playmakers (when healthy) and a lot of interceptions this year. Also, QB Cunningham and his WR group have been a positive this year.   A little D and a lot of O vs SDST's tough D - could this be enough for MTSU to pull off the upset in Hawaii?

Dave Clawson has built the kind of strong program that Mizzou is looking to resurrect. Coming off their best year and a great start to 2022, Wake had a lot of injs that did them in late in the year.  Coming into this game Wake looks healthier on D and with their top QB/WR tandem this makes them the dangerous team they were to start the year. Missouri's strength this year was defense thanks to the hire of DC Blake Baker, but some key talent is out for this game - especially on the DLine, which will hurt Baker's attack style D vs a top offense.  Will Malzahn/Harsin protege Eli Drinkwitz be able to generate enough offense to make up the difference?

Two teams that have struggled in 2022 playing post-season football...questions for another day. For today I will say that Houston had a tough schedule and a lot of close losses. They lost some key players from last year as did Louisiana, but have nice QB/WR tandem in typical Holgorsen Air Raid form.  Louisiana had a great 3 yr run under Billy Napier, but he's gone and he took his coordinators with him. The rest of his staff, led by HC Michael Desormeaux, has a chance to start a new run, but for this game it's Houston who's the better team. Will the Home Field advantage and freezing weather give LA a chance for the upset?

Baylor is coming off 3 straight losses and a tough season and now play a Triple Option team in freezing/windy conditions.  This game will come down to Power and Attitude... running the ball and stopping the run. Dave Aranda canned his mentor and DC Ron Roberts because his Defense couldn't stop the run. Baylor runs a strong Power oriented PS Scheme, but they depend on the pass more than Air Force. Aranda's Culture will be put to the test versus a very good and always motivated Air Force team in some nasty weather.

Two more programs on the rise!  Great Coaching Staffs led by Tyson Helton for WKU & Kane Wommack along with Major Applewhite for SBama.  WKU had a much tougher schedule this year and has it rolling on both Offense and Defense now, but a lot of opt outs for this game.   SBama has all their players, which is an advantage, but are they ready for their first ever Bowl Win?

Will Liberty show up to play, unlike their regular season finish? They now know their coach for 2023 and have had time to process Hugh Freeze's exit. DC Josh Aldridge takes over.  Will Toledo QB Dequan Finn stay healthy? They are a powerful PS Offense w/ him in the game.   Both teams have good Defenses - Toledo had a lot of guys back - Liberty improved during the year, until the season ending debacle. This game is a great example of the volatility in Football right now.  This game could be a blowout for either side or a great game or a great comeback by either side. Depends on the Culture and in Toledo's case, their leader being on the field.

Another interesting clash of Cultures...  Can the Spread of SJSt prevail over the Power of EMich?  Two good Defenses, but SJSt a talented bunch with an Aggressive DC = one of the best in the country.    SJSt has the Talent + the Scheme + the Motivation to finish strong for their fallen comrade. Is EMich's QB healthy enough to have his best game and spread the field so that EMich can ramp up the power and control the game?

One program on the rise. Another with a shocking turnaround. The in-flux state of CFootball today creating Cultural shifts in the way that teams acquire Talent, run Operations and apply Schemes.   Two Head Coaches with completely different backgrounds:  Charlie Huff evolving an already solid program into a stronger Culture moving forward.  Jim Mora taking advantage of both the transfer portal and a fortunate schedule to turn this program 180 degrees from where it was a year ago.  Two Teams built the same:  Offensive schemes full of potential, but lead by aggressive Defenses combined with Power Spread Running.  Marshall is the definite favorite. Will UConn's fortune finally run out? 

Two 7-5 teams that help fill out a massive Bowl Schedule.  BYU a disappointing year with tremendous changeover on the Defensive Staff.  SMU a surprising year with a strong finish and at times a fantastic Spread Offense that can play at a frantic pace!  Both teams are beat up with BYU missing the most players and their starting QB. SMU is missing their top WR and OLineman.   Can BYU salvage the year behind a favorable crowd and a talented, albeit inexperienced, freshman QB or will SMU close out the year with more offensive fireworks? 

Should these teams be playing in the Post-Season? Willie Hall building something at Southern Miss and they are ready for a signature win. Mike Bloomgren is in a tougher situation at Rice and is building slowly, but needs less injuries and more PS.

Washington St a good first year for Dickert and his Air Raid Offense, but now players and coaches are absent for the Bowl Game. Fresno St has had a stronger year with a more experienced team and is one of the few teams without much attrition. Only one player of note absent. All coaches on board.

Football Volatility is upon us              -Both Head Coaches are gone              -Louisville's DC/OC/QB Coach are gone              -Cincinnati loses a ton of players to:                          -Injury                          -Transfer                          -Opt Out  Luke Fickel created an amazing Culture at Cincy in a short time. Also a lot of talent and depth both in the coaching staff as well as his roster.   Will the ingrained Culture at Cincinnati with the rest of the staff led by Kerry Coombs win out over the completed disrupted staff at Louisville? Or will the loss of their top QB/WRs/TEs along with a shaky Oline be too much to overcome?

Two teams who had great years and are well deserving of a Post-Season appearance.   USTA = Offense. Troy = Defense. UTSA has injuries at WR & RB.   Coach Sumrall has instituted a great Culture in a short time, but Coach Traylor already had a great Culture at UTSA plus a fantastic leader at QB - perfect for his "Briles Style" PS Offense.   This is it...UTSA's big chance to get their first ever Bowl Win!

Two teams with disappointing seasons. UAB better than their record. Miami arguably is as well.   UAB - Bill Clark's retirement. Top player opts out!  MIAMI - Loses Oline starter off  a unit that has struggled. Finally settled on power style of Offense w/ Freshman QB.  In spite of Oline transfer, will Miami's Offense be better than expected?  Will UAB ball out for HC Bryant Vincent's last game and the end of the Bill Clark Era?

UTSA vs North Texas  Has NTexas come far enough this year for a shootout upset vs the King of CUSA - UTSA?  USC vs Utah  USC has the Talent,Scheme and Revenge on their mind.  Can Utah's long time great Head Coach pull off another shocker after their great win over USC earlier in the year?

The Comeback in my Scenario 3 never materialized. In fact, it became an OSU debacle at the end. This is not Talent or Scheme in and of itself. This is a Culture issue - specifically Operational. Breakdowns on both sides of the ball all year not just this game.  Michigan did not match OSU in Talent or even Scheme, but really are strong in Operation. There is a ton of "buy in" right now - this whole team is aligned and they won't be an easy out in the Playoffs.  Lastly - congrats to JJ and Edwards. I brought up JJ all week. Edwards at the end of the week. Everyone talked about the Corum Injury - it was about JJ and Edwards this week.  

Incredible, but my 31-21 Scenario with a late comeback by OSU is back in play! JJ + Edwards power downfield as OSU leaves a light box.  OSU brings pressure in the Red Zone, but another DB screwup - PI penalty.  Will OSU make the comeback? JJ has come to play ...now it's Stroud's turn.

JJ rising. Now RB Edwards and that Mich Oline is starting to roll out the Power. Who needs Corum! I don't want to say I told you so, but...   OSU drives inside the 50, then disaster strikes! HUGE PENALTY for a head butt by backup Gee Scott! Stroud shows strong leadership in up-tempo hitting 3 straight passes to bring up a managable 4th&6 from 1st and 35(?).  RYAN DAY CALLS FOR A PUNT WITH STROUD BEGGING HIM TO LET HIM KEEP ROLLING AND THE REST OF THE TEAM READY TO FOLLOW!! The punt goes into the endzone....NIGHTMARE! Only momentum I have felt from the Buckeyes since 1st Qtr. Day shut it down. This isn’t looking like any of my scenarios now. Harbaugh Operations looks stronger than OSU.. a concern of mine all week...

Three Scenarios w/Analysis:   1. OSU 35-21:  Pull away in the 2nd Half.  2. UM 27-17: UM in control throughout the game.  3. OSU 38-31: Comeback from 31-21 in 4th Qtr;  Winning TD w/ under 1 minute left.

The draft is a lot about future potential stars of the game or current stars traded in draft deals. As we move forward in this PS Era of Football, organizations would be wise to shift their priorities from the Star Mindset to Team as they deal with future unpredictability with Injuries and a shifting landscape involving Team Morale and the overall Economic Structure. I take a quick look at the Jets celebrated first day of the Draft as it pertains to a favorite player of mine, Garrett Wilson. As well as the trade made by the Eagles as they start to think with more of that Team Mindset from their QB position. Also the situation in Baltimore with WRs leaving, possibly due to all the running by Lamar Jackson.

It took some time, but Stafford is finally in sync with McVay's Gillman Pro PS and the talent in the system.  ---Stafford with Caldwell at Detroit - who coached under Tom Moore's Gillman Pass Spread. ---How can I pick against Shanahan 3 games in a row. If I do, I deserve 0-3! KC Letdown could be real - best team doesn't always win, but... ---Burrow is NOT good with too much pressure - slow to read defenses. ------Spagnuolo may bring the heat. ------Will KC DBs be able to keep on those WRs? ------Need to run Mixon - Power + Spread! Hard to pick against KC, but I still am for now. Leaning towards the Rams now. Either way I expect 2 more whacky games. Or at least close games.       

3RD QUARTER NOTES DRIVE 1 1ST DRIVE 13 Plays 8 minutes - FOR ONLY A FG!  KC would still be driving for a TD if not for Holding Penalty. Mahomes in Dropback mode too often. Partially because of Bills conservative D and Cover 1 Man Under. Still, they had 2 more RPOs + a Reverse and some Power. MORE! PLAYERS NEED A PLAN BILLS DEFENSE - Bills are now bringing down a Safety - moving from Cover 2 to Cover 1 w/ a Robber. More aggressive and continued coverage mix confusing Mahomes, but only 1 AGap LB blitz. Again, not enough mix up front and PLEASE...GET A SPY ON MAHOMES! KC DEFENSE - Spagnuolo also bringing down a safety. Mixing in the back, but not as effectively as the Bills with their MU Zone and incredible technique. PLAYERS NEED TO PLAY ATTITUDE TALENT PREPARATION DLineman - #55 Hughes and Clark + Oliver and Bill's DBs/LBs in Pass Coverage playing fantastic. The RBs are running hard. KC WRs executing in an intricate scheme. Mahomes and Allen = Dynamic PS QBs. MOVE BY HARDMAN ON TD ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! ONE ISSUE Mahomes still having some confusion on the Bills Coverage Mix, but runs well to make up for it. Mahomes still better at Improvisation than pocket passing!

College Pure PS = more simple.            More efficient? Can it be done in the NFL?           Reid and Daboll Offenses can be brilliant.           McDermott/Frazier Match Up Zone Bracket. #55 - Confused Clark & Hughes last Podcast           Both are wrecking havoc! Defenses Conservative, but mixing Coverage.           Bills MU Zone Bracket           Spags - Where's the Beef?? Offenses strong for the most part.            KC a little conservative to start.            Daboll a little conservative 2nd Qtr.

One more long TD Drive Chiefs. 1 2m Drive each. Chiefs missed FG. Bills TD to tie 14-14 at Half. Defenses a little more aggressive. Each did a Full House Cover 0 Blitz near Goaline, but too little too late. KC Offense picked it up w/ more aggression this Quarter! Incredible Misdirection - Play Action. Personnel Packages. Bills Daboll backed off a bit for a series or two, but setting up for more aggression late this Quarter and in 2nd Half.

To be fair, Tony makes a lot of good calls throughout every game he works. I list a few of them in this quick episode. I don’t understand the double coverage obsession or what you’re seeing but it’s all good and I enjoy your work! 👊

Romo is obsessed with double coverage on Hill and Kelce and constantly calling out dc when it's not there. It's a DC ghost he's seeing.  In this case it's a matchup zone. The defense is manning up on receivers in their zone and passing them off when they leave their zone and others come into their zone. It may look like man coverage, but it's deceptive. It's certainly not double coverage, but players of course are aware of where these top receivers are on the field. This is not too different from what Todd Bowles did to KC in last year's Super Bowl with a Matchup Zone Gap Defense. I will review all of this on video during the off week after the Championship Games.
