136 • Intersectional Environmentalism
DYK the climate crisis ain't a standalone issue, isolated from all else? It is in fact interwoven and intersecting with all areas of our lives and the action we take must reflect that! What does that mean? It means it's really easy to engage with The Green New Deal and intersectional environmentalism on a daily basis. In fact, you're probably already doing it! This episode is part two with Theresa Godin as she dissects On Fire, a book by Naomi Klein about the burning case for a Green New Deal. Jump into episode one here and then get into this one!

Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. This week on the pod I chat with Stephanie Guyatt, owner and operator of Under One Sun, a group of artisans from all around the world who are overcoming poverty and restoring dignity through artistry. Beyond the incredible upcycled use of materials such as 55 gallon steel drums, broken glass tumbled smooth, paper, and scrap aluminum and copper, we also chat social justice, the 'white saviour' complex, and being part of a global and local community to restore dignity to all. This week I’m chatting with Jolyon Collier, founder of Counting Coral, a non-profit organization working tirelessly beneath the waves to restore our coral reefs. We start with the basics, such as what is coral and why is it bleaching before getting into direct actions we can take to help Counting Coral save these stunning marine life habitats, and how reducing our reliance on the meat industry is actually the first step towards the planet’s salvation.

I know for me that the space around me if very often a reflection of how busy, tired, stressed, relaxed or anxious my brain is at any given time, and I can often feel better about my situation by tidying up all the kids toys or laundry or doing the dishes. Well not the dishes, I don’t really do those.. Sara has such great tips today, and it was so lovely to chat with her again. I'm taking a holiday, so this week I'm rewinding to April 2019 to a conversation with Bill Callaghan, life long farmer from Lindsay, Ontario! Stay tuned for brand new episodes to come after my hiatus basking in the sunshine and spending quality time with my family away from the microphone. Lot's of love and happy August!
Reducing pesticides, cover cropping, adding nutrients to soil at an industrial scale, feeding the worms and more, this episode is all about sustainable agriculture and crops with life-long farmer Bill Callaghan!

087 • Fertility + Plastic Free Sex
The Sex Ed class you should have had in school. Before we get into today’s chat a few bits of information: (1) Lisa uses necessarily explicit language in some cases to be as clear as possible. (2) This conversation focuses on plastic-free sex between a male and female partner because the topic is fertility awareness as a method of birth control, but that being said I think every woman should be aware of how their bodies work for optimal health so look into it either way. (3) We don’t cover condoms, IUD’s or any other form of barrier method, we’re just talking about fertility awareness as a form of birth control and the effects of hormonal contraceptives like the Pill on our overall health. And (4) my views in the episode are my views, and Lisa’s views are her views backed by studies and years of research. It’s up to you to take it or leave it. But if you come away from today’s topic with anything I want it to be that you deserve a healthy awareness of your reproductive health as well as a loving, safe relationship.

083 • What is Zero Waste?
Ready for a radical way to live by your values for the good of everyone? Environmental activist Carlyn Grebleski speaks today about how to live zero waste and how to take further action to reduce your impact and go beyond remembering your reusable water bottle! Grab her quick definition below as well as links to blog posts and how to get in touch.
zero-waste:
“Zero waste as you’ll see on this blog is the effort to reduce the individual’s waste of limited resources while also avoiding, as much as possible, giving money to companies that encourage the misuse or irresponsible use of the world’s resources. A resource is anything that we can make use of. Wasting something can be throwing something away so it isn’t used, using more than necessary so that we need more financial resources (money) or natural resources to make up for using too much, or generally using a lot of resources on things we don’t need; one way to think of it is resource frugality.”

052 • The Avoidable Crisis of Food Waste
Food waste is avoidable in SO MANY WAYS but it's not just up to the individual. 024 • Worm Composting
Indoor composting is perfect when you don't have access to municipal green waste pick up, and the way to do it indoors is with those wriggly and delightful little creatures called earthworms. Compost is the missing link in today's waste management crisis but everyone, EVERYONE could do their part by removing food scraps and even most paper recycling from the waste stream! We can do it people!! Today's chat with Cathy Nesbitt, pro vermicomposter, magic soil producer and owner of Cathy's Crawly Composters, might be just the inspiration we all need to dig deep into the world of composting and start saving the planet, one bit of food scrap at a time!

Minimalism is a tool for living a meaningful life with less stuff to clutter up the place! Like the phrase 'zero waste' it implies an extreme lifestyle of all or nothing but that's hardly the case! Minimalism, like low-waste living is a sliding scale, where anyone can approach it at the level they need. Today I chatted with The Minimalist Mom, Amy, about her minimalist philosophy and how to use this lifestyle to find space for what really matters!
