22: Disordered Eating and Finding Food Freedom with Ekaterina (Kate) Timofeeva
On this episode, I sit down with Ekaterina (Kate) Timofeeva, a Food Freedom Coach, to discuss disordered eating. Kate is vulnerable and shares her personal history with disordered eating and diet culture. After struggling for many years and being isolated from friends and family, Kate decided to seek therapy and adopt an intuitive eating mindset. Since then, Kate has healed her relationship with her body and was able to achieve food freedom. Now Kate works as a Food Freedom Coach to help other women let go of negative feelings towards food and embrace healthy habits.
My favorite part of this episode is our discussion of disordered eating as a spectrum of behavior. There is no black and white in this area and you do not need to have a formally diagnosed eating disorder to have a strained relationship with food. If you are struggling, I urge you to reach out to friends or family members for support with seeking treatment that is appropriate for you. If you love getting to know Kate, you can stay in touch with her on Instagram at @ekaterina.timofeeva_

16: My mental health journey: Breaking the stigma with Rach
On this episode, I take you through my personal mental health journey. Breaking the stigma of talking about mental health is so important to me and I can't ask you guys to do something I haven't done myself. While I've always been an open book, I've struggled with shame and self consciousness around my mental health issues and this is the most vulnerable content I've ever shared. I really hope that in hearing my story and life experience, you realize that you are not alone. If you look at my social media from the outside and think I have it all together, you're wrong. I'll cover my life long battle with anxiety, my history of panic attacks and subsequent use of anti depressants to treat them, and I'll leave you with the coping mechanisms I've learned that have helped me the most.
If you're struggling right now and need someone to talk to, my DMs and email are always open, so please don't hesitate to reach out for support or a friendly ear to listen. During the show, I reference my favorite book on meditation, Stress Less, Accomplish More, which I highly recommend if you're struggling with anxiety or want to learn to meditate!

She is my first international guest coming to us all the way from the United Kingdom! I love her accent almost as much as I love her energy and passion for her work. During the show, we discuss limiting beliefs - what they are, where they come from, and how to overcome them. If you feel like you're the only one who focuses on the negative, it's not your fault! Our brain's default programming is to see the negative and you have to make a conscious effort to override that. A decade ago, Bobbi was suffering from unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain, and malabsorption of nutrients, but couldn't get an accurate diagnosis from a doctor. After a trip to the ER and prescription for pain meds, she was written off as "crazy." Not long after, Bobbi ended up in emergency surgery and had part of her colon resected (she was definitely not crazy). Following her surgery, Bobbi spent multiple years in recovery and talks us through the specific modalities she used to heal her gut and microbiome. We talk about her love of ice baths, the paleo diet, and the importance of your circadian rhythm.

4: Diversity, inclusion, and representation in health and wellness with Antonette
On this episode, I sit down with my friend, Antonette, to discuss diversity, inclusion, and representation in the health and wellness space. If you didn't know, the health and wellness industry is predominantly white and does not portray beauty/health in a way that represents all skin colors, body types, gender identities, or ability levels. Because of this, women (and particularly women of color) often times have a negative self image or do not feel empowered to enter into or thrive in this space. Antonette gets real on her personal experiences around this topic, how it influenced the way she raised her daughter, and what lessons she has taken back to her workplace. She shares great advice for women of color who may be feeling insecure or unrepresented and advice for allies, like myself, on how we can work to create more welcoming and inclusive communities for all.
During the show, Antonette references a few resources that may be helpful if you're looking for more information or ways to talk about uncomfortable topics like race. The Power of Vulnerability by Brene Brown, Making Sense and 10% Happier podcasts (with Sam Harris), and The Values Factor by Dr. John Demartini. Welcome to the Real Health with Rach podcast!
I'm your host, Rachel, and I run the Real Health with Rach blog dedicated to recipes, advice, and recommendations for living your healthiest, happiest real life. You can connect with me on social @realhealthwithrach and check out my blog here!
I was inspired to create this show after attending RISE Conference, where I saw women getting up in front of 4000 strangers and sharing their real life experiences to help others. It made me realize that I wasn't alone on my own health journey and that so much of what we may be going through, someone else has gone through, too.
What to expect: You'll be hearing from real women who are openly sharing their personal experiences related to health, nutrition, fitness, business, parenthood, relationships, and anything else we can think of. You'll also be hearing from experts in nutrition, fitness, women's health, skin care, mental health, and a variety of other topics. Finally, you'll be hearing from me, Rach, about my personal journey, lessons learned, advice I can share, and challenges I've dealt with.
My hope is that you can listen to an episode of this show and hear that someone else is in the same boat, has gone through the same thing, or has overcome with the same obstacle as you. We are not meant to do life alone and I want to make sure you know that it's. not. just. you. You can expect 30 minute episodes, released every Wednesday, and I hope you find them easy to listen to while you're getting ready, on your way to work, making dinner, or on a run. I'm so excited to get this party started!
The first episode is launching on July 8th so until then, be well, stay real, and I'll see you soon!
