In today's podcast we have someone I thought would never come on a Health and Safety podcast…. Who is that? A rugby player with a long and successful career with Saracen’s  He now runs a business called the Saracens way. This caught my eye on LinkedIn because it something I talk about a lot, there is something about the culture at Sarries that attracts the top players, a culture that creates talent. You are doing your Risk assessments wrong! In this episode we talk about risk assessment and why I think they are killing you Safety culture!

Change of plan, we were due to talk about Risk assessments but. This weekend Leinster Rugby were not aloud to take flags into the grounds because of “health and safety” some listens commented on what drives them crazy so let’s talk about how health and Safety has gone mad!!

Didn’t want to talk about Grenfell for a while but it’s so prevalent I couldn’t avoid it. Make sure you listen till the end for 5(ish) tips to improve your fire safety systems! Off the back of the government banning “some” combustible cladding last week there is slight improvement and some boards and managers my be listing a bit more because fire is fashionable ATM, but after a seminar I am still worried nothing will change and here’s why!!

Six points for you to think about at work in your work, wether you’re a safety professional or SME owner, manager or CEO have a miss with an open mind and think about how you do safety. There is more to come around each point and so much more to talk about people! But hopefully this will start those cogs moving and get you thinking about safety differently!
