Dr. Roland Schegg is a professor at the Institute of Tourism, University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland Valais (HES-SO Valais) since 2005. Between 2000 and 2004 he was working with the EHL as a professor and researcher. His research interests are in the field of eTourism (online distribution, eService metrics, technology adoption, web 2.0 and mobile technologies in tourism). He has been involved in applied research into the tourism sector for 20 years and is part of the project managers of the Flagship Resilient Tourism.

In this episode, Roland Schegg shares his recommendations on digitizing the travel sector, as well as his experience with digital tourism as a specialized professor at HES-SO Valais. As explained in the episode, the most important recommendation that Roland has shared is to work together, learn from the others and collaborate with other stakeholders from the Swiss travel sector, so that a sustainable digital eco-system can be built in the country.

Simona Gamba is Deputy COO and Chief Innovation Officer at Locarno Film Festival. Er verfügt über zwei Master-Abschlüsse der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU), der Norwegischen Hochschule für Handel und Gewerbe (NHH) und der Global Alliance in Management Education (CEMS). Seinen Bachelor-Abschluss erwarb er an der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU).

Emmanuelle Rose is in charge of the communication and digital department of the Lausanne tourist office. Throughout her career, Emmanuelle has worked in the digital sector: Lycos search engine in the 2000s, Voyages SNCF, expedia.fr and finally arrived in Lausanne as web manager. There she created the current digital service of the tourist office.

Ian Millar is a Senior Lecturer in the EHL’s Business Creativity department. He is a Certified Hospitality Technology Professional and a frequent speaker at international IT conferences. He is also the author of numerous articles on hospitality technology. Ian is an advisor to various hospitality technology companies and was a member of the hospitality industry panel for the Singapore Tourism Board, which advises hotels in the region on best practice in the use of technology. He is also a mentor for the Metro Accelerator programme, advising various hospitality technology start-ups. He is currently on the advisory board of HITEC Amsterdam, which organises Europe's largest hospitality technology conference. He’s been recipient of the 2020 Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) Paragon Award

In this episode, Ian Millar talks about how the hospitality and restaurant industry can be more effective thanks to technology. He provides a clear example of a digital project in which he was involved some years ago, where data and technology helped in accelerating key processes of a famous fast food chain.

Christopher Meignier is the CEO and co-founder of BLENT, a Swiss business intelligence company created in 2019 that produces dashboards and reports updated in real time for hotel and restaurant chains. BLENT provides an answer to the problem of compiling and analysing data from several systems (stay, services, F&B, wellness, accounting, reputation, competition, HR, etc.) on multiple properties. Artificial intelligence allows each level of management to optimise its activities and resources in real time and to anticipate the future with powerful forecasting tools.

Elisha Schoppig is Operations Manger at Hotel-Spider. The Swiss company, headquartered in Nyon, develops IT solutions for hotels. Elisha has been working at Hotel-Spider since 2014, right after graduating with a Bachelor's degree from the EHL Hospitality Business School. Luca Preto is Head of Digital at Ticino Turismo, the regional tourism office that aims to promote and develop the tourism strategy of the canton. Within this department, he manages the agency’s online strategies and the projects related to digital transformation and innovation. Digital tourism, technology and communication are his main passions.

In this episode, Luca Preto presents two concrete examples of digital transformation of Ticino Turismo's operations. One of them serves a market regulation purpose and administrative responsibilities, while the other example illustrates how much data can be taken out and leveraged from the Ticino Ticket, a travel ticket delivered to overnight visitors which allows to use public transportation for free and access to many regional discounts.

Vincent Bailly is the director of the Lavaux World Heritage Association, an entity in charge of the management of the "Lavaux, Vineyard Terraces", which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. Vincent is a geographer by training and a journalist. He also worked at the Tourist Office of the Canton of Vaud for information and multimedia development. He is now working for the preservation of the site "Lavaux, Vineyard Terraces".

In this episode, Vincent Bailly explains how leveraging data will allow the Lavaux World Heritage Association to track visitor flows and improve their experience once it has been appropriately interpreted with the help of different research institutes.
