Long Term Exercise For Depression and Anxiety

Long Term Exercise For Depression and Anxiety

Is Long Term Exercise For Depression and Anxiety Better Then Medication and Traditional Talk Therapy?   That’s the question.  And the answer that is coming back may be surprising to you.  What if it turned out that exercise for depression and anxiety is better than medication and traditional talk therapy?  Look, not everyone wants to get medicated.  Not everyone wants to “talk it out.”   A recent study in of 97 reviews that included 1039 trials and 128,119 participants published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, concluded that…   "Physical activity is highly beneficial for improving symptoms of depression, anxiety and distress across a wide range of adult populations, including the general population, people with diagnosed mental health disorders and people with chronic disease. Physical activity should be a mainstay approach in the management of depression, anxiety and psychological distress.”   Sooo…  YES!  Long term exercise IS better then medication and traditional talk therapy for depression and anxiety.   MORE AT:  https://richmansgym.com/exercise-for-depression-and-anxiety/

Freedom From Fear: Songs of a War Boy Book Review

Freedom From Fear: Songs of a War Boy Book Review

Freedom From Fear: Songs of a War Boy Book Review   This is the story of Deng Adut [pronounced Dang Ahh-doot] called “Songs of a War Boy.” At 6 he is taken from his family in South Sudan and trained as a soldier in the Sudanese People’s Liberation Army.  He is marched for 33 days to Ethiopia along with 30 other kids.  These boys were forced to fight in the Second Sudanese Civil War.  They were brainwashed and drugged with amphetamines.  The horrors this kid was exposed to are incomprehensible.   A friend of mine in Australia sent me a couple books to read based on a discussion of people we'd like to meet that we admire.  This man was one of them...   FULL TEXT:  https://richmansgym.com/songs-of-a-war-boy-book-review/

Are You Wanting It Like There’s No Tomorrow? #DavidGogginsQuote

Are You Wanting It Like There’s No Tomorrow? #DavidGogginsQuote

Are You Wanting It Like There’s No Tomorrow?   Recently, I reread and listened to Can’t Hurt Me, David Goggin’s first book.  This quote stood out then, and it stands out now…   "It’s about wanting it like there’s no tomorrow – because there might not be.  It’s about thinking of everybody else before yourself and developing your own code of ethics that sets you apart from others.  One of those ethics is the drive to turn every negative into a positive and then when sh*t starts flying, being prepared to lead from the the front.”  -David Goggins, Can’t Hurt Me   Let’s break this quote down into three parts and then look at how to incorporate it into your own life.  And just to be clear, in this quote, Mr. Goggin’s is talking about life.  But the word it, where he says wanting IT like there’s no tomorrow, for you, for right now can be anything you want it to be.  Replace “it” with your it....   READ FULL TEXT:  https://richmansgym.com/wanting-it-like-theres-no-tomorrow/

3 Mindsets for Better Workouts

3 Mindsets for Better Workouts

3 Mindsets for Better Workouts Since I started my sobriety journey in 2007 I've been a big proponent of getting people in the recovery movement to start getting after it and workout more.  Strong body's equal strong minds.  The two are not separate by any means.  The discipline, the trackable physical improvements in strength, conditioning and body comp, the activity itself, the endorphins and dopamine that comes from a great workout, replacing a destructive addiction/habit with a constructive addiction/habit ...  It all works in your favor.  There are countless reasons why challenging your physical limits will pay massive dividends to your recovery and sobriety journey.  I can say from personal experience and full certainty that Turkish Get Ups and Kettlebell Swings played a major role in my detoxing and getting through those first fragile months.  The reason I'm talking about the sobriety journey to open up the mindsets for better workouts talk is because while you may not be struggling with addiction, you may be struggling with the motivation to workout in general and you may be having a challenge with just getting your mind right so let's look at 3 things the highly successful do that I got from my boss, Grant Cardone and see how we can apply them to getting after it even better.   The 3 Mindsets For Better Workouts are...  READ ALONG:  https://richmansgym.com/mindsets-for-better-workouts/

The Rolflex Arm and Leg Massager Review: Best Foam Roller For Arms and Legs

The Rolflex Arm and Leg Massager Review: Best Foam Roller For Arms and Legs

What is the Best Foam Roller For Arms & Legs?  Great question!  Especially if you're looking for relief from forearm pain like me.  In January 2020, I challenged myself to run 3.5 miles, do 100 Burpees and 50 pull ups every day, all month. That was 3 years ago and my forearms are still recovering.  LOL.  Basically, they took a beating on top of the beating I had already ben giving them over the last 47 years of combining deadlifts and kettlebell drills with pull ups, it pushed the tendonitis over the edge.  (Especially in my right arm which I think has something to do with mouse clicking.)  I have been trying and working with hot and cold therapy, massage, Graston tools...  (honestly, probably not enough) and the bottom line is that the traditional overhand grip with arms at shoulder width pull up with any real volume has been off the table.  I have been able to do underhand chins and parallel grip chins but as mentioned, the traditional over hand has been a no go.  Singles and doubles are all that's happening but reps?  Volume?  Fuh-get-about-it.   Enter The Rolflex Arm and Leg Massager!  And queue up the "where have you been all my life" line!  Ahhhh...  Sweet relief!

6 Tips To Make Decisions Faster

6 Tips To Make Decisions Faster

6 Tips To Make Decisions Faster   https://richmansgym.com/6-tips-to-make-decisions-faster/   Indecision is a killer!  Indecision effects every area of our lives.  And how does that happen?  The main culprit of indecision is uncertainty.  Think about it for a second.  What is something you’re uncertain about right now?  Your next workout routine?  A change in your nutrition program because you’re not seeing the results you thought you should?  Career or relationship decisions?  Been meaning to rekindle your spiritual path but not sure about going back into “organized religion” because…    You’re uncertainty slows your progress  A person who is uncertain cannot make decisions faster nor can they take action.  What have you been putting off?   Whatever that something is in your life right now you’ve been meaning to do but haven’t, I can pretty much guarantee there’s something about that you’re not certain about.  You’ll never get anywhere on maybe.  Maybe is hindering not only your progress but your well being and your happiness.  As many of you already know, when not here at Rich Man’s Gym, I’m a 10X Training Facilitator and Coach with Grant Cardone.  One of our partners is Brandon Dawson and he posted on his Instagram account a few month back…   6 Tips To Make Decisions Faster  And we’re going to go over them together and take a deeper dive into each of them...
