A consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Benjamin holds a specific interest in how to respond to the sexual and reproductive health needs of populations living in remote, resource-poor and humanitarian-emergency settings. His passion to understand more about the world we live in has led him to travel widely across Asia and Africa. He has worked with academic, international and local organisations in some of the world’s most challenging environments.
He has provided assistance on the Thai-Burmese Border, East Timor, Uganda, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Central African Republic and South Sudan and he also worked in the response to the West African Ebola epidemic.

Meghan is an Assistant Professor at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and has been based out of Nairobi in Kenya since 2011. She has a huge wealth of experience of mixed methods research in multiple low- and middle-income countries and is currently working within the NEST 360 partnership.

Episode 6 - Sharing Knowledge
Join the SanyuSisters as we chat to Ashish K.C all about how he has side-stepped COVID to keep his research on track and share knowledge during a global pandemic.
Ashish is a perinatal epidemiologist and went on to complete a doctoral degree in neonatology. He has a wide range of experience and has previously been technical advisor to Save the Children and UNICEF over the last 15 years. He is currently based in Uppsala University, Sweden and has worked within the research field for many years both leading and supporting several large trials based in Nepal.
Ashish has published in many journals and more recently in Lancet Global Health: KC, A., Gurung, R., Kinney, M., Sunny, A., Moinuddin, M. et al.(2020). Effect of the COVID-19 pandemic response on intrapartum care, stillbirth, and neonatal mortality outcomes in Nepal: a prospective observational study.
We are delighted to be able to chat with Ashish and hear how he has navigated the sharing of research findings both within the academic community and study participants etc

Episode 5- Study Recruitment
Join the SanyuSisters as we chat to Alice Beardmore-Gray all about how she has side-stepped COVID to keep her research on track and continue study recruitment during the pandemic
Alice is a fellow Obstetrics trainee and in her third year of her PhD at Kings College London. She is currently based in Zambia as the trial manager of the CRADLE 4 study which is recruiting in India and Zambia and aims to find out when is the best time to deliver women with pre-eclampsia between 34 and 37 weeks of pregnancy. She is passionate about global maternal and newborn health research and has previously worked as an NHS Improving Global Health Fellow in South Africa and a research associate in Rwanda.

Episode 3- Supervision
Join the SanyuSisters as we chat to the brilliant Professor Andrew Weeks to give a supervisors perspective on how supervision has been maintained during the pandemic!
Andrew is a Professor of International maternal health at the University of Liverpool. He is a highly experienced clinical trialist and the director of both the Sanyu Research Unit and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Research Synthesis. He is currently working on over £10million worth of innovative CTIMP and non-CTIMP projects committed to improving pregnancy outcomes and clinical care worldwide, particularly in poorer settings. And if that wasn’t enough accolades, he is also our academic supervisor!

Episode 2 - Getting Approved
They will be discussing the challenges and positives that have come from getting approvals and governance processes in place during COVID 19. Hannah will be sharing tales from Togo where she is currently involved with an implementation project to improve Antenatal Care. Not to be missed!
