I Am That Monster: On - Martial Mysticism and Revolutionary Politics | David Davis
This week, we welcome mystic, sorcerer, artist, and writer David Davis onto the pod to chat about meeting and making sense of the martial mystery. The future is still being dreamed up by all of us. Are you honoring the revolutionary spark of madness that inspires someone to go out and do something? David and I chat about Mars as the moment of radicalization, the initiatory moment of the surgeon's knife as it cuts out what is making the self and society sick. We speak on donning the cloak of the monster, and the sensuality of mysticism as we navigate new ways to speak narratives which allow us to use Mars’s power of hatred and discernment to bind the oppressor and reframe our stories towards that of liberation and compassion for all beings. How do we bind the beast of oppression? In what ways does shame protect us from our own tendencies towards violence? What does it mean to be in active service and communion with martial energy and why is it that the best weapon against mars is also mars? We touch on healing, revolution, and the power of anger to get shit done. Join us for this pertinent and important conversation towards allowing in a heated knife to cauterize wounds. All this and more poetry, on today’s episode of SaturnVox

Sharing in the Dance; On - Rejecting Binaries and Embracing the Imaginal | Genie Desert
This week, we welcome artist, astrologer, gold and silversmith, and talisman maker extraordinaire Genie Desert onto the podcast to chat about the intersection between art and academia. Genie has been making incredibly breathtaking talismans for the fixed stars and planets, and when I received my own for Alcyone, I was struck by the incredible research and source materials Genie drew from to produce this potent piece of magic and art. This begins a discussion on the rejection of binaries, the horrors of enlightenment, the necessity of Art as medicine, and the exaltation of dance among metaphors for weaving in and out of the tension of things. We chat identity, academia, and a little bit of philosophy, all with a focus on Art and Imagination as a practice in both the craft of life and the crooked path. I thoroughly enjoyed and was inspired by Genie’s compassion of the heart and expansion of the mind and her attention to utilizing language metaphors that give space and healing for the Self’s relationship with the body. I do not doubt you will find it inspiring, too.
To find more on Genie, check out their instagram @tides.of.tethys, and make sure to check out their website to sign up for their newsletter to be one of the first to lay claim to upcoming talismans they are making! Finally, don’t sleep on their presentation at this year’s Astro Magia conference, Nov 2023, where they will be presenting along with a bunch of other amazing speakers, former guests of this show, and friends of your humble host.

The Undulating Power of the Dance Floor; On - Night Life, Eros, and Queer Community
How does dance help us feel safe in our bodies? What are the similarities of Otherness between those who identify as queer vs witch? How can we take the undulating energy of desire and use it to shape a world in which we all get to surrender to safety, intimacy, and vulnerability of heart through the ekstatis of the moon and the dionysian impulse to purge through the creation of feral artistic expression? All this and more on today’s episode of SaturnVox

The Oracle of DelphAI; On - The Ethics and Ethos of Talismans and Technology | Arturo Martinini
This week we are welcoming author, artist, and student of astrology, Arturo Martinini to talk about Arturo's most recently published book through Revelore Press titled, The Oracle of DelphAI, an artistic rendition of the astrological image talismans representative of the seven traditional planets, the zodiacal signs, the decans, the fixed stars, and the lunar mansions co-created by Arturo with a little help from a non-human entity, that of AI. We discuss the ethical and ontological nature of using such a tool in talismanic creation, Arturo's process in creating the book, and how other practitioners might find the book useful. This convo is an open dialog on embarking wild new technological frontiers, as well as, the ethics and ethos in the praxis of confronting the other and human’s relationship to technological unknowns, as well as, one’s ability to navigate capital and the need to access power and agency for one’s self in the world. I quite enjoyed this conversation with a dear friend, and hope it opens up a dialog of critical questions and theories on the intersection between magic, technology, and art for you.
To support this project and get a copy of the book for yourself, head over to the Revelore Press website to purchase it here. Feel free to also contact Arturo via email at arturo.martinini@gmail.com

Sovereignty of the Self; On - The Pedagogy of World Building - Ari Felix
This week on SaturnVox we are welcoming astrologer, bruje, and world builder, Ari Felix, onto the pod for the season three premiere! I am thrilled to release this episode, which was a conversation filled with immense contemplative wisdom. We talk about Ari’s work in the art of worldbuilding, and its role as an anti-capitalist pedagogy for the liberation of self, an exercise in dreaming our reality as we, the sovereign of our own lives, will it to be. Ari graciously brings their knowledge and understanding of the Ifa tradition in to help answer some pretty tough political, spiritual, and ethical questions.
How do we connect ourselves to the lifegiving blood-force of our own generative creativity, both through lineage and through the lens of our agency? How can we navigate healing our own wounds of oppression, as well as the wounds of others, within the capitalist paradigm we are trying to break? What types of healing can be cultivated societally when we stop viewing things through the lens of good/bad and instead focus on ease/disease? I was immensely moved and inspired by Ari’s dedication to freedom and building a world in which we can all feel at home in our desires, our bodies, and our communities. I hope you will be too. All this and more on today’s episode of SaturnVox

Finding the Sweet Spot Between Fast and Slow: On the History and Praxis of Hoodoo | Professor Charles Porterfield
This week we are coming in with a bonus episode featuring the infamous, educational, and hilarious Professor Charles Porterfield! We chat about the history of hoodoo and conjure, with our discussion emphasizing the black origins of the practice and giving an effort to showcase the importance of the study of liberation politics and revolutionary history as an ethos foundation within this sorcerous craft. What makes Hoodoo a practice distinguishably different from African Traditional Religions? How does conjure function as a sorcerous technique aimed at liberating the oppressed? What is the difference between pure and clean? Why is Hoodoo explicitly North American, and, how did the political landscape of the United States influence the addition of Indigenous, Jewish, and other ethnic minority’s praxis in a tradition that finds its roots in Africa? All this and more on today’s episode of SaturnVox.
But wait, there’s more! Check out the Patreon exclusive episode to hear more of my conversation with the good professor, as we transition from history into praxis, leaning more into a discussion on various uses and techniques for doing both magic and divination with playing cards!
If you enjoy this episode and the witty way the Professor imparts his wisdom, I encourage you to check out the class he is teaching at the Salem Witchcraft and Folklore Festival. This conference is filled with a plethora of inspiring educators, many of whom have been on the podcast, and I can’t express enough how much my own magic has grown in both personal praxis and community building through the experiences I have had at festivals past.

Killing the Cop in your Head: On The Sacred Tension between Chaos and Order | Alexis Mincolla
This week we welcome guest Alexis Mincolla, chaos magician and lead singer of the industrial metal band 3Teeth on to chat about all things magic, music, and how to dance your way towards self liberation. I ask Lex some questions sent in by other listeners of the pod, such as, how did he get into magic, what inspired him to weave it into his artistic creations, and why Chaos Magic?
Mostly though, we spend the interview talking about one of my favorite things, the intersection between magic and politics. How does one remove themselves from the stranglehold of divine oppression? How does language use feed into false illusions of what is and what isn't? How do we cultivate agency and freedom while still maintaining order, without allowing that order to become oppressive? We even make some time to discuss what it’s like for Lex living out in the desert and what he has learned from the local genius loci there. I was very humbled and graciously inclined for Lex’s vulnerability and honesty, and I hope the rest of you find some moments of inspiration in this conversation as I did. All this and more, on today’s episode of SaturnVox

Sprouting the Second Head: On the Embodied Presence of Poetry and Divination | Òscar Díaz
This week, we welcome guest Òscar Díaz, Poet, Medieval Islamicate Astrologer, and Specialist in Fixed Stars, to chat with us a bit about the intersection between poetry and divination. This conversation speaks like an epiphany of fire, with the spark of inspiration leaping from tongue to tongue. From getting the blood flowing through language, to the art of omen augury, I certainly enjoyed the liminal and whimsical wisdom Òscar was gracious enough to provide.
In what ways are both poetry and astrology embodied practices? What might djinns, daimons, or demons have to do with creativity and inspiration? Why is there a strong relationship between Venus and diviners? How can a surrender to eroticism and poetry allow us to better explore the risk and inherent fumbles of living an authentic life? In what ways are poetry and magic engaged in a similar process of reality shaping, and, what is the link between shame and interest? All this and more, on today’s episode of SaturnVox
To find more on Òscar, check out their website where you can book them for an astrological reading, and maybe also make some time to read some of their published poetry. Don’t forget also to follow them on instagram or twitter to keep up with whatever workshops and classes they may be offering.

This week’s extended episode features Òscar’s musings on the poetics of astrological talisman making, the magic and sound scaping of rhymes, the intimacy of singing one’s prayers, the difference between prayers we write and prayers that have been intoned repeatedly by many over time, and advice on how to give generosity to the self in encouragement to write prayers of your own, so hop on to the Patreon at www.patreon.com/saturnvox where you can further support the show and join in on our community discord server.

The Safety to Surrender - On How to Study Magic and Revolutionary Witchcraft | Sarah Lyons
This week, we welcome my new friend, writer, activist, filmmaker, and witch, Sarah Lyons, for a special in-person recording of the pod! I actually adored the background of city sounds you hear in this interview that I did with the @citymystic discussing her two books, which I personally think were well missing from occult literature until she wrote them, How to Study Magic and Revolutionary Witchcraft.
We giggle, we joke, we contemplate horror, as we discuss some serious issues such as; Who gets to define who as “Othered”? Why is it so important to reclaim the term Wtich? How does the body act as an object held within the political dimension? What's the difference between calling yourself Witch vs Magician? Why might we need the discipline of a container to unleash ecstasy? And perhaps most importantly, how can we find safety as we stand at crossroads making deals with uncertainty? All this and more, on today’s episode of SaturnVox.

Sign My Death With Your Teeth: On - Monstrous Desire, Erogenous Shame, and the Hungers of the Witch | Sasha Ravich
This week, we are welcoming another dear friend of mine, Sasha Ravich, stellar witch, visionary spirit worker, and astrolater extraordinaire, to chat with us about their work and research within the crossroads between psychoanalysis literature and the monstrous appetite of the witch. In this episode, Sasha weaves constellations that explore the cannibalizing and vampiric scaffolding of Desire, with specific emphasis on the Witch’s journey to remove the mask of shame in order to fully embrace the spirits of both their psyche and their body.
Is there any true reason to be ashamed of the flesh? Are we already in a symbiotic relationship with our spirits, and, why might we be afraid to acknowledge this? What is hidden within the power of true nakedness, and why might we only be able to share with those select few who are brave enough to dance along with our monsters and theirs, beneath an oceanic moon? How do we navigate the urge to devour the Other within a dance that honors the boundaries of all Selves? What are the metaphysics of horror, and, is it actually correct to continually sanitize the Godhead? All this and more, in today’s episode of SaturnVox

This Episode is a Seed - On Ghostly Practice, the Ritual Body, and Performing the Chthonic Sun | Jacquelyn Marie Shannon
This week, we are welcoming a person very dear to my heart, Jacquelyn Marie Shannon, ritualist, integrative hypnotist, ritual artist, Ph.D. candidate, and dancer, to chat about their research on a topic they have come to call Ghostly Practice. It's hard for me to concisely state in linear language what this episode is about. It's about poetry, it's about performance, it's about the haunting excess accrued by the churning movements and sacrifice of time. It's about dance as the tension and pulling between not the two sides of the coin, but, the very spin of the coin itself.
In what ways are we haunted by both memory and possibility? How is performance directly informed by the praxis of ritual? How can we commit fully to the act of becoming within a ritual body that is constantly living and dying? Is your bookshelf implicitly haunted? It is my deepest pleasure and joy to plant the seed of Jacquelyn's work in the minds of all who choose to listen. May it spark creative impulses in your soul, to dance and move in co-creation with all Others, both seen and unseen.
Don't forget to check out the Patreon Exclusive Episode which features Jacquelyn speaking on their experiences as an academic who is out of the broom closet, so to speak. As well as, additional poetics on the relationship between art and politics, and , the negation + subsequent recreation of self as praxis for allowing ourselves to truly live with both feet on each side of the river of Becoming.

The Driving Ground of Poetic Ecstacy - On Runes and Nordic Paganism | Phillip English
This week, we are welcoming guest Phil English, Galdramaður, Diviner, and Thelemite to come onto the podcast and chat about the poetic and primordial power of working and expressing the Runes. We chat poetry, singing, enchanting, and the importance of cultivating right relations with the mythopoetic narratives inside us. Certainly a treat for anyone interested in the history of ancient traditions, and more so in, the way we weave stories and songs of the dead and living in syncopations of unity and frenzied sound, a co-creation with all around us. What are the Runes? Who is Odin? Why is it so hard to reconstruct a firm proof of praxis for a people whose histories and myth interpretations have been destroyed and forgotten? Why might it be better to engage in these myths as living narratives, instead of historiographical proof of such-and-such a thing? How can we stay tethered when traversing liminal spaces? What are some of the mysteries of enchantment and disenchantment? And most importantly, why is it so necessary to ground ourselves in the reality of histories of oppression as tactics to keep ourselves ethical and humble in our magic practice? All this and more, on today’s episode of SaturnVox.
Don't forget to check out the Patreon Exclusive Episode which features Phil telling his own mythopoetic understandings of a few runes, as well as, a bit more commentary on weaving narratives of poetry and power in our magic practice.

Aliens Ate My Audio: On - Astrology and the Paranormal | Maighdlin Kelly
This week, we are welcoming guest Maighdlin Kelly, astrologer, astronomer, and weird scientist, to chat about a topic that tickles fantasy and stirs the curious and brave heart, that of the paranormal and the entity known as the Phenomena. Maighdlin has taken their skills as an astrologer and focused them on studying paranormal events. They also extend their roots in the weird science community by teaching fellow paranormal hunters how to view the sky through an astronomer’s lens via their project @stargazingsidequest. On today's episode, they will graciously take the time to explain to me that there are some things we just may never know, with great patience despite my churning desire to uncover all mysteries, I might add. What can we learn about the Phenomena from looking at the event charts of weird encounters? How can we stay grounded when tracing the roots of weird experiences? What is so exciting about the current crossover between the paranormal and occult communities? All this and more, on today's episode of SaturnVox.
Bear in mind when listening to today's episode that I actually had a weird encounter in the process of recording it. I did nothing different with my recording process and yet ended up with the most garbled sound file I'd ever experienced so far in my podcasting journey. Upon talking to Maighdlin about this, I discovered that it's apparently a very common occurrence when people are discussing the phenomenon on air. So much so that they have been named, the Technical Goblins! So, my apologies for the machine elf interference.
Don't forget to check out the Patreon Exclusive Episode which features Maighdlin recounting some of their own weird encounters, how to surrender to the mystery, and lucid dreaming.

The Waters Above and Below the Firmament; On Saturn and The Arte of Relational Astrology | Diana Rose
This week we are welcoming a very special guest, Diana Rose, writer and relational astrologer extraordinaire. Diana graciously agreed to come on the pod to share her life nourishing wisdom on that death bringer we all know so well, that most great of planets, Lord Saturn. Diana enlivens the conversation on Saturn with grace and wisdom well earned, through earnest experience and the allowance of devotional trust shared with this mighty sphere, he who rules bones, structures, and limitations. Does Saturn enjoy our suffering? What does it mean to be in right relations with all conscious beings, and, how does this create a praxis of right action in turn? What can we learn about Saturn’s role in the act of life’s nourishment by contemplating the often forgotten association Saturn has with the element of Water? How can we use astrology to help determine which planets are best to start developing devotional relationships with? All this and more, in today's episode of SaturnVox

Get in the Proxy, Shinji: On Anime and Gnosticism | Luminous Leeci
This week, we are welcoming special guest Leeci, student of Gnosticism and devotee of St. Mary Magdalene, to talk about one of my favorite things in the whole world, Anime! Those of you who grew up with a little bit of weeb in you probably know that Anime has a history of bringing up occult and esoteric issues within the narrative. In fact, both Leeci and I probably wouldn't have picked paths that emphasized magic or mysticism without the introduction via anime as kids. So with this in mind, we decided to explore three different series and talk about how they are, or are not, related to the mysteries they are attempting to discuss. What makes the self? Why is it important to find the you inside the heart of others? How can we transcend our suffering? What does it mean to be interdependent with the Beloved? How does one find their own personal Gnosis? We discuss Ergo Proxy, NGE, and, if you hop on over to the extended episode found on Patreon, we talk Madoka Magica too! I Learned Something Today; On Aleister Crowley and the Practical Joke of the General | Jedidiah Gainey
This week, we are welcoming guest Jedidiah Forrest Gainey, OTO initiate, Thelemite, co-owner of Botanica Macumba in New Orleans, and personal friend of mine. My original guest for this week had a family emergency and I was very blessed to have Jed agree to let me come record in his home so the pod could remain on schedule. Marvel in wonder as two malefic ruled people with strong Gemini placements attempt to talk about one of the most controversial occultists of all time, on a day Mercury stationed retrograde no less. Truly, the sharp cutting tones of our laughter slice away at any attempt to avoid paradox. Jed kindly breaks down some confusion I have, as a person who is not a Thelemite, on what the heck Crowley and company was on about. What does it mean to be a Thelemite versus a member of the OTO? What must it have been like to be a magician in the early 20th century? In what ways might Thelema be a progenitor to what we call Chaos Magic in today’s day and age? It's a history lesson with a little bit of philosophy packed in, and I for one certainly learned some things. I wept, I laughed. Others next wept, next Others laughed. The whole episode is a gas. So join us as we shoot the shit and maybe learn something as well, this week on Saturn Vox.
To find out more on Jed, you will have to actually come to New Orleans and check out the Botanica Jed co-owns @realbotanicamacumba. Jed has no links to be perceived, but, to be fair, that’s more of an occult lifestyle than I am leading.

Beauty to Pacify a Restless Soul; On Animism and the History of Tattooing | Kandace Layne
This week, we are welcoming a truly special guest, one of my best friends, Kandace Layne. Kandace is a tattoo artist and tarot reader from my hometown of Atlanta Georgia, and she recently just reached her 10 year anniversary as a professional in her field! To celebrate, I invited Kandace onto the cast to discuss the magical history of tattooing and the process of spirit guided image magic she brings into her art. What can the history of tattooing teach us about image magic as medicine? How can we brainstorm ourselves into a good business practice while maintaining spiritual integrity in the wake of late stage capitalism? What lessons can we learn from our animal brother and sisters? What can we learn about the complexities of colonialism by studying the spiritual significance of ritual scarification in places like Benin? We also chat some about a ritual idea Kandace will be working on bringing into her tattoo practice over the next couple years! It's the holidays, so unlike most of my other episodes, I let this one unfold as a caress among sisters instead of my usual analytical style of interviewing. So cuddle up by the fire with some hot cider and tune into this beautiful artist and animist spin her stories of compassion for the spirits of the Earth. All this and more, on today's episode of SaturnVox.
To find out more on Kandace, check out her website here, where you can check out her designs and book a tattoo session. Don’t forget to find your way to her store where you can get prints and other items like seraphim tote bags! You can also find her on instagram via the link here.

Ritual Resonance; On Authenticity and Feral Expression | Nika Danilova
This week, we are welcoming guest Nika Danilova, the musician, artist, and magic practitioner otherwise known as Zola Jesus, onto the podcast. Throughout the course of this interview, Nika and I explore the cathartic process of ritual expression which extends itself synonymously through art, music, and magic. Due to our shared political standing and love of Adorno, we also find space to weave in conversations on the importance of such an expression to combat the ill effects of a Capitalist culture which seeks only to consume. How might one use art as an antidote to a commodified world? What does it mean to be a Missionary for Nature? How does community storytelling re-enliven our engagement with the various ecologies of the world? What is there to gain through relinquishing control? All this and more, on today's episode of SaturnVox.

The Liminal Cauldron of Creative Magic; On Astrology, Creativity, and the Praxis of Play | Amaya Rourke
This week, we are welcoming guest Amaya Rourke, astrologer, ritualist, artist, teacher, and writer residing in the northwest of the Republic of Ireland. Her work is guided by her animistic land-based spiritual and magical practice, helping her to return to and reveal the wild and creative terrestrial origins of astrology and mythopoetics. In this episode, Amaya shares with us her theories on creativity and praxis in regards to her aspirations in guiding clients towards the cultivation of a deeply nourishing and co-creative relationship with the quiet rumbling of deep enchantment and living art of the more-than-human world. In what ways is our art our children? What does it mean to be dead while alive? How might we fully embody the nature of our own authentic vulnerabilities? What can go wrong when our art, as our children, begin to be perceived by others as a commodifiable object? What does it look like to speak to someone soul to soul and how might we cultivate thresholds of safety for ourselves and others? What does it mean to be in a state of flow? Tarot of Love in a Dream; On The Art of Memory and Divination | Reverend Erik
This week, we are welcoming guest Reverend Erik of the Arnemancy podcast, on this the day of his solar return! Erik and I have recorded sister episodes on each other's respected podcasts on our thoughts surrounding the philosophy behind tarot reading. Get a behind the scenes peek at how your diviner friends learn to read and sus out meanings for the cards! Erik's method is a unique and innovative technique involving Renaissance philosophy, and the Art of Memory. How do stories, sounds, and smells allow us to better take hold of the opaque translucent nature of Memory? Is there any difference in how one learns the Majors vs the Pips? How is the imaginal playground informed by the sea of Eros? Isn't all magic just chaos magic anyway? All this plus laughs and jokes abound, in today's episode of SaturnVox.

Holy Mountain Temple; On Community and Value | Brother Moses
Being the sign that occupies my 6h, Scorpio season tends to be a time in which I begin thinking about how we are of service, to our communities, to our spirits, and sometimes even to ourselves. With that in mind, today I am welcoming back to the podcast Brother Moses to chat about his new community space and the Kickstarter campaign for the Holy Mountain Temple. Moses' plan involves the combination of maker space ideology with a cunning man's sense of value, which creates a synthesis that mimics the alchemist's ability to dissolve and then combine to create a work of art. We chat about the project, what services it will ideally bring to the Occult community, and how we can provide service back into it so as to maintain a fluid recycling of energy and value. We also talk a bit about the benefits of de-textualization, and a community's ability to share stories in a way that allows the text to re-conceptualize itself as a living body of praxis. The Magician's Adventure | Lon Milo DuQuette
Today we are celebrating the season two premiere of SaturnVox with a very special guest, author, magician, simple country metaphysician, and the man who wrote the book I first started learning tarot from, Lon Milo DuQuette! Lon and I were introduced by my friend and former podcast guest, CR Sanders, and I was very lucky to get a chance to talk with him back in July. It's a cozy, comfortable episode, jam packed with lots of wisdom and metaphysical nuggets of insight. We laugh, we joke, we chat angels and demons with a bit of erotic mysticism on the side! What is sex magic really all about? Can we evoke archangels? Where does the Will fit into it all, and what's the deal with that John Dee guy anyway? Ravens, and Kings, and the Other, Oh My! - On; a Cunning Approach to Ethics | Dr. Alexander Cummins
Today we are celebrating the Season One finale of the podcast with a special guest and a beautiful conversation weaving fiction, cunning, and ethics all into one pot and serving it up to you all as a hearty stew to warm the soul. This week I am welcoming Dr. Alexander Cummins, contemporary cunning man and historian, onto the podcast where we chat a bit about what one can learn about magic and ethics from reading the outstanding work of fiction Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norell by Susanna Clarke. Al provides great insight and wisdom to the unpacking of this tale, by bringing his knowledge and understanding of the dead (folk necromancy), geomancy, and grimoire traditions to the table. This conversation does a lovely job on talking about so many things, like ravens, angelic language, melancholia, and doorways, but still centers on building an underlying awareness of respect, responsibility, and mutual understanding with ourselves and the world we all share. What can we learn about Kingship from the study of ravens? What does the history of treasure hunting teach us about magicians and cunning people of yore? How can a study of the four humors inform a more holistic approach to the care of self and others? All this and more, on today’s episode of SaturnVox.
To find more from Dr. Alexander Cummins, please check out and follow him on Instagram here. His published works and contributions to collections by Three Hands Press, Revelore Press, Hadean Press and Scarlet Imprint. He is a frequent speaker on the international circuit, co-hosts the podcast Radio Free Golgotha, and is a founding editor of Revelore Press’ Folk Necromancy in Transmission series. The Artes of the Artist - On; The Philosophy of Aesthetics and Mythic Ontology | J M Hamade
This week I am welcoming artist, diviner, and fellow podcast host, J M Hamade, on the air to do something new and fun, wherein we have recorded two interviews as offerings to the public by means of a little episode exchange. In this particular SaturnVox conversation, Jay and I discuss magic and astrology as seen through an aesthetic lens, as well as the ontological implications of mythos building and the ways in which we structure our Wellspring of Imagination. What makes the artist and the magician such similar company? What is significant about studying planetary myths where the traditional western style of mythos is challenged? In what ways might our ability as magicians to effect change in the world transform if we allow the imaginal to proceed and thereby inform the material? How does environment influence mythos and in what ways does it affect change onto our perspective of things otherwise assumed to maintain a fixed quality? All this and more, wordsmithed with intelligence and elegance by my new friend Jay, on this week’s episode of SaturnVox. Once you have finished listening to the episode, don’t forget to head over to Jay’s podcast @starnightdwell for more conversations on star lore, divination, aesthetics, and much more from myself as well as Jay’s other awe inspiring guests.

As Above, So Below - On; Queerness and Kabbalah | Cooper Kaminsky
This week I am welcoming folk witch and devotee to Babalon, Cooper Kaminsky. I have been dying to have a chat about Queerness in Kabbalah for some time now, and there really was no better person to ask than a non-binary Jewish witch if you ask me! Cooper gives us their insight into the intersection between the queer and Jewish experience, wisdom on both Babalon and the Shekinah, and we even find time to discuss what it means to embody the Middle Pillar along the Tree of Life. In true Mercurial fashion, Cooper's work as a Jewish practitioner and as a Babalon devotee has given them a perspective concerning issues between Jewish Mysticism and Thelema which might bridge the gaps left to rot between the two, founded in a message on the importance of remembering the roots of the practices we have changed and carried forward into the New Age of Western Esotericism. This episode touched on so many things that are immensely dear to my heart, and Cooper has such a wealth of wisdom both lived and gathered. The content of this episode is so important for Occulture at large in my opinion, and I am beyond delighted to share it with you now. It is truly an episode not to be missed.

This week I am welcoming Bishop Orlee Stewart, artist and witch, to talk about the magic of the internet, evoking sub-lunar spirits, and the benefits, as well as, dangers of using magic to embrace High Strangeness. Within this episode, we chat about other worlds, extra dimensions, and the joys of leaning into one’s True Will, along with the synchronicities that follow. We spend some time discussing the existence of aliens, the Ars Goetia, and Cthullian mythos, showcasing the wonders and horrors of embracing the unknown, the devilish, and the path of the Other. What does it mean to follow the Devil Current? Why is it important for magicians and witches of all types to begin accepting the existence of High Strangeness? How can working with demons actually be helpful? All this and more, in today’s episode of SaturnVox.

Bad Priestess: Jouissance, Paradox, and Malefic Creativity in a New Aeon | Tamaryn
This week, I have with me Tamaryn, musician, witch, perpetual student of the cosmos, and owner of the store 'Major Arcana' in Half Moon Bay, California. This episode is a powerful expression of creativity, passion, and shadow work. As Saturnine witches, we tackle these subjects as they must be truly seen, beyond masks of virtue and bound instead by an intentional acknowledgment of the All-Being as paradoxical in nature. Tamaryn and I discuss all of this and more through a Thelemic, psychoanalytical, and astrological lens. From Jacques Lacan to Kenneth Grant. From Nico symbolically consuming Marc Almond's soul through song, to the groundbreaking work of Amodali. Above all, with a particular reverence for all of the publicly unknown priestesses and magicians on their own personal esoteric path toward embodiment of these currents that collectively act as the rising tide of a new aeon. What does it mean to follow one's True Will? How might we consume our demons to integrate shadow and flesh? How might we best become channels of communion between Heaven and Earth. I adored this conversation with a dear friend, and I hope you all find it as inspiring and enlightening as I did.
As a bonus for this episode, and to support the show, Tamaryn personally created a mix of songs meant to carry the emotions of her message, complete with a discussion on why each song was chosen. Mercurial Magic, Misadventure, and the Media | CR Sanders
Every DnD player knows that all parties are more fun when they include a good Bard. Mythos building and story-telling are one of the most basic skills that makes human consciousness so interesting. All social customs are built from myth, but as Mercury in their guise of Trickster will teach you, creating new myths is one of the best ways to subvert and redirect customs and social order. With that consideration in mind, I invited CR Sandars, otherwise known as Chris, onto the podcast to discuss the book he is currently writing, a memoir on magic and misadventure. Chris has been the Hollywood go to guy for production of esoteric and paranormal content, he is a seasoned and devoted magickal practitioner for over two decades with past affiliations and leadership roles in multiple occult orders and societies. Over the past decade, Chris has tracked patterns of progress and echoes of divine voices through various times and spaces. Now, in true Mercurial fashion, he is sharing his adventures and misadventures with us, demonstrating and imparting the wisdom of folly and the joy of Mercurial magic and bravery.

The Many Faces of the Mother | Ramona Martinez
On this week’s episode we have musician, print maker, liminal beauty and Marian devotee, Ramona Martinez, creator of the Visions of Mary oracle deck. Have you ever had one of those experiences where you meet a new friend and can’t help but become immediately comfortable? This was the experience Ramona and I had as we sat down with some tea to discuss the various faces of the Mothers Mary and Hekate. This episode unfolds more like sisters hiding under bed covers at night sharing secrets than my standard interview style, but that seemed appropriate in the end considering our conversation. Join us as we discuss working and getting to know the Mother archetype, in all her paradoxical facets, from the perspective of two of the most well known spirits who claim that name. In what ways do Mary and Hekate differ? In what ways are they the same? How does the Mother present herself to us, in ways of both darkness and light? Both Ramona and I share a bit of our personal practice with these spirits, and talk a bit about channeling. There’s even an appearance from Ramona’s sphinx cat Cyclops. On the Art of Candle Crafting and the Ecstasy of Babalon | Sarah Jezebel Wood
On this week’s episode we have candle maker, sorceress of ecstatic mysteries, and devotee of Babalon, Sarah Jezebel Wood joining us. Sarah and I spend some time waxing poetics, if you will, on the depth of spell crafting and discipline that goes into her talismanic candle line Lovi Artes, the hardships of marketing an occult business through social media, and the connection between candle making, dancing, and the Goddess Babalon. Why is tension necessary for ecstasy? In what ways does candle making represent a Saturnian process? How can one be in charge of their desires, as opposed to one’s desires controlling you? Is there power in silence? Sarah brings an immense amount of joy and humor to complex issues of mysticism, navigating skill learning, and embracing one’s Will despite the hardship of the path forward. How does one’s relationship with the dead affect the living? In what ways can we explore myth and fairy tale to inform our understanding of liminal relationships? Necromancy, Poetry, and the Preservation of Emotions | Cooper Wilhelm
On this week’s episode we have guest Cooper of the Witchhassle podcast here to discuss the link between poetry and necromancy. We get into a bunch of other cool topics like language use, the intersection between the liminal, madness, and melancholy, as well as a bit of left politics on how one might create mutual aid through poetry. Is poetry ruled by the Moon, Mercury, Saturn, or maybe all three? This episode was a complete delight and filled with much laughter on both sides. I hope you all find it as interesting as I did, and feel free to message me with any poems or stories of necromantic workings that included poetry so we can chat about it!

Learning to Live in the Moment | Emmett Dwyer of the Process Church
This week we have a special episode for our listeners. Instead of focusing on some sort of philosophical topic, I want to tell you the story of my friend. Emmett Dwyer, fka Brother Mark, hammer of God and former member of the Process Church of the Final Judgment. Join us as we discuss some of the practices and theology behind the Process Church, and learn the wisdom of living in the moment to honor our authentic self. What is a gray force? How is Aikido similar to the tenets of the Process Church, and why is it so important for magic practitioners to stay grounded? All this and more in this week’s episode of Saturnvox! Stoic Astrology | Dalanah of the Moon Matters Podcast
Dalanah of the Moon Matters podcast joins us this week to help explore what it means to be a stoic, how stoicism fits into astrology, and why allowing ourselves to view fate with a sense of awe may actually be the key to setting ourselves free. We know that taking on the hat of determinism can seem scary, especially to magicians who want to reshape the world according to their Will. I think this is a very fine aspiration, but as you listen to this episode I want magicians most of all to keep this quote by Arthur Schopenhauer in the back of your head; “A man can do as he wills, but not Will as he wills”.
