Don't Pray These Prayers in 2023
Here are the three prayers I am avoiding in 2023.

How I Am Getting Ready for 2023 - #170
hope everyone had an amazing Christmas Day! Mine was good. Living in California makes me even more grateful for the time I get to spend with my family in Seattle each December.
In addition to the time I spend with family, there’s a lot of time for reflection. Three things have been on my mind this week;
Navigating January - how do I get ahead of the hustle and bustle of a very busy month? How do I finish the year strong? What realistic goals do I have for 2023?Setting Your Intention for 2023
Be honest with yourself about the process of creating a new year resolution. Have you had success with consistency? Do you remember last years resolution? Was your progress “traceable?”
Here’s my plan
I’m going to identify a theme for the year. The theme will be driven by this question: A year from now, what are my expectations?” I’m going to identify quarterly focus areas. I’m going to create opportunities for quarterly retreats to revisit focus areas. I’m going to identify someone I trust to help me be accountable. I’m going to pray over my plans
Proceed to the Route #169
This is a message I preached on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the Progressive Church of God In Christ in Sacramento, California. It chronicles the experiences of Davis and his journey to forgiveness and redemption after making a huge series of mistakes.

Pack Light: What to take and what to leave when you're moving forward #164
As I reflect on my own future, it occurred to me that some new opportunities I’ve been blessed with, have been clouded by old opportunities.
Based on my experience, here are three things you can’t afford to pack when you decide to move forward:
A commitment to tradition
Friends and associates who don’t have a growth mindset
Trauma from bad relationships and experiences

I wasn't Going to Say Anything... but ... #163
Juanita Bynum is having a prayer conference and y'all are talking about it so...... I'm weighing in.

ARE YOU ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE FENCE? #162
Maybe your position is the problem?
On Friday night, I decided to attend a high school football game in my neighborhood. By the second half, I made a few friends who were fathers of players sitting outside of the gate in lawn chairs.
One of the dads was adamant that the team's inability to score was due to the fact that the starters were all sons of the coaches.
After a bout 20 minutes of his complaints, I found myself deeply annoyed.
Listen to find out what lesson I learned!

How to Walk Through A Closed Door! #161
The doors were closed out of fear. The disciples were crippled by their inability to control what was next.
Jesus uses the text to teach us that he doesn’t need an open door to appear in order for his will to be accomplished.
Rest assured that with Jesus, the door is obsolete!

My Cup Runneth Over #135
What did David mean in Psalm 23:5 when he said "my cup runneth over?"
Over the last few weeks, I’ve endeavored to enjoy a cup of coffee at home. While I’ve had one or two slip-ups, I’ve been relatively successful. In an effort to encourage me, I’ve purchased a variety of flavored non-dairy creamers and themed mugs.
I forgot what was on the cup when it took it out of the cabinet, rinsed it, and placed it on the Keurig plate. My goal was to make half of a cup because it was pretty late at night. After the coffee brewed, I noted the sheer irony…. A half-empty cup of coffee in a cup with the words, “my cup runneth over.”
Naturally, my mind wandered and I started asking questions?
What did David mean in Psalm 23:5?

The Psychological Tactics that Lead to Spiritual Bondage
Whatever system hurts you will generally become the target you point at when the next system makes you feel liberated. True liberation is when you are free from systems and targets! When God gives me the grace and strength to forgive the people who hurt me in my last system, HE even frees me from the system that manipulated my vulnerability. MY pain is just gonna be my testimony. Not my weapon. I’m not trying to hurt you. I’m trying to live healed.

Ask Domo Featuring Lapria & Whitney Genevro #114
I'm joined by my sisters, Whitney and LaPria Genevro for this week's "Ask Domo."
I’m in a book club and one of the members always shows up late and leaves early. We are busy moms so I’m not bothered by that much. The problem is that she dominates the discussion and then gets frustrated, claiming she has to leave. Coincidentally, our group reads a lot about stress management and anger. Because I invited her to the book club, I feel a little obligated to tell her how she is viewed by the group. What should I avoid saying?
I broke it off with my fiancé. It was an emotionally draining situation where she would constantly refer to her father for important matters. When we would get in arguments, she would always start with “well, I talked to my dad and….” Eventually, I couldn’t handle it anymore. The problem is that her mother and I had an understanding and agreed the relationship was not progressing. Since we broke up, my almost mother-in-law regularly tries to hook me up with other girls. Is this wise?
My boss tried to add me on Facebook. I declined. In a meeting, she casually mentioned it as a way to build trust. Her demeanor and tone made me feel like she was pressuring me to add her. She told me to “consider the impact it would have on our relationship.” I was speechless. How do I tell Her ABSOLUTELY NOT?!
I ran into my pastor at Safeway. She had a bottle of wine in her basket and I was doing everything in my power to avoid focusing on it. I’m a recovering alcoholic so it really shocked and concerned me. I want to know what her philosophy is on drinking in order to make a decision about my membership. How do I broach this discussion?

Who I'm Marrying (and a series of thoughts about Singleness) #113
I decided it was time to ramble about my observations and feelings about marriage and how I'm entertaining discussions about singleness as a 40-year-old human who happens to preach and be saved. I hope this resonates with people.

Ask Domo #112 - In-Laws + Disappearing Man Friends + Weave haters + Christians on Couples Trips
This is episode #112 and I'm answering listener questions! Y'all tell Oprah and T. D. Jakes to HOLLA! #Oprah #Gayle #TDJAKES #Advice
I have a small business that I’ve had for 7 years. My sister-in-law talked my brother into paying someone else MORE than I would have charged because she was mad that I started charging family members. How can I share with my family that this hurt me?
My boyfriend and I were invited to a couples trip at the last minute, replacing another couple. We are believers and many of the activities and accommodations aren’t things we do. Should we cancel or see where there are concessions?
I’m dating a woman who is perfect for me in just about every way. The only challenge is that I don’t like weave. She changes her hairstyle almost weekly and it’s an adjustment for me. I want to ask if she could lay off the hair extensions. What’s a safe way to do this?
The guy I’m dating goes through these phases where he is completely unavailable. I learned he suffers from depression and I connected him with my therapist. It doesn’t seem to be helping. I care about him but don't know what to do next. Do I wait for him to come out of his depressive state or do I move on? How can I have a meaningful relationship with him and be supportive?

Do Christian Feel Lonely? What Should We Do? #109

My son’s father is expecting a new child with his current wife. He thinks that the two of us should get along. He insisted that I plan the baby shower since she doesn’t have any sisters or a local family member. He and I have a solid co-parenting relationship but I don’t think it's cool to be in her face since they just got married. What should I do?
One of the women at my church is having a housewarming and invited me. She later mentioned that she bought the house with her boyfriend and they aren’t getting married. Our church preaches against this like I am sure most churches do. The new news means that I am not going. How do I tell her?
My supervisor is very mean to me. We do not get along at all. I got a new job and plan to quit without a 2-week notice… but as a Christian, I feel convicted. What's the best way to end a bad work situation without losing your witness?
My wife is a packrat and I’m a more simple guy. Our house is more of a reflection of who she is and not me or we. I want her to get some therapy or something because it's getting out of hand and impacting our Marriage.

My cousin and her husband refuse to be vaccinated but travel all over the place. She was supposed to be a bridesmaid at my wedding but I’m having second thoughts. How do I tell her that she can’t be at my wedding unless she is vaccinated?
I borrowed money from my brother’s ex-girlfriend in 2019. At the time, she said I didn’t need to pay her back. After she and my brother broke up, she started telling people I owed her money. I want to pay her the money, even though I don’t owe her. My brother won’t let me. I really just want her to keep my name out of her mouth. What should I do?
I saw someone from the church at a local nightspot with a woman I didn’t recognize. It could have been his sister or cousin as far I know. It concerns me because I’m in circles with his wife and feel like I should at least say something to him or his wife. Would it be messy to call his minister?
My daughter told my wife that as a free woman, she doesn’t feel it’s necessary for her boyfriend to discuss with me his interest in marrying my only daughter. My wife agreed with her. How should I approach the young man she wants to marry?

How to Know If It's the Right Fit?
Have you ever looked at job opportunities and wondered if you would be ideal for the job but quickly talked yourself out Of it?
If you wear clothes, you e probably learned like I have that fit doesn’t always have a direct connection with what’s on the label. Fit is ultimately about how it feels when you try it on. One of the most brilliant ideas to ever impact the marketplace is the dressing room. In the fitting room, you give an article of clothing a crash run. You don’t make the determination about the fit until after you try the item on.
The key to determining fit is TRYING IT ON. Trying it on is applying and letting the process reveal the fit. This episode is all about the work it takes to know if something is a fit. Jeremiah 1:4-8 is our biblical example.

Being Useful vs. Being Popular
In this episode, I discuss the power of being useful versus being popular. This episode was inspired by Dr. Gerald Kayingo, (An impactful nursing professor) Dr. Carla Gary (Passionate higher education administrator), and Bishop Nathaniel Bullock (Thoughtful/engaging leader of leaders). I want to thank each of these leaders and mentors for manifesting the power of usefulness in their lives and encouraging others to do the same.
The Bridge Builder
An old man going a lone highway,
Came, at the evening cold and gray,
To a chasm vast and deep and wide.
Through which was flowing a sullen tide
The old man crossed in the twilight dim,
The sullen stream had no fear for him;
But he turned when safe on the other side
And built a bridge to span the tide.
“Old man,” said a fellow pilgrim near,
“You are wasting your strength with building here;
Your journey will end with the ending day,
You never again will pass this way;
You’ve crossed the chasm, deep and wide,
Why build this bridge at evening tide?”
The builder lifted his old gray head;
“Good friend, in the path I have come,” he said,
“There followed after me to-day
A youth whose feet must pass this way.
This chasm that has been as naught to me
To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be;
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;
Good friend, I am building this bridge for him!”

A Space With Your Name On It! #88
This an overview of a message. preached on Sunday, May 23, 2021, entitled "God Has Something Special For You!" Borrowed from the experience of Isaac in Genesis 26, I discuss what we can learn from the process we have to endure when finding our place in life.
When God had something that was better, he pulled him out of his comfort zone. When God has something better, He will Interrupt your definition of success. When God has something better, he won’t let you settle for what belongs to someone else.Listen to my podcast on dominiquebeaumonte.com/Podcast.

Mo'Nique Is Not My Auntie: The Culture of Public Correction And the need for Kitchen Tables #87
Dominique rants about a video that famed comedian, Mo'Nique created on Instagram live critiquing the appearance of individuals she referred to as her nieces.
I’m don’t with community aunts and uncles. Before we dip into the work of telling forks how to be, we need to take a deep look at we are so willing to provide public critique about our own people. Pull me to the side when I’m wrong. You’re not correcting me in love in the company of 5 million.... Especially in a mixed company.

Develop a Personal Brand Standard on Social Media - #85
Show notes: https://dominiquebeaumonte.com/2021/05/13/develop-a-personal-brand-standard-on-social-media/
Have you ever began a conversation with someone where they make a comment about something you posted on social media.
This happens to me all the time and it used to make me really uncomfortable because 1) I was not as intentional about my posts and 2) I didn’t want to be viewed through the lens of one is Isolated experience or joke.
Today, I’m going to talk about the importance of developing a personal brand identity that drives the way you project yourself in social media spaces.
I got a few tips, experiences, and tricks that will help you!

Planned Ignoring? Responding to Attention-Seeking Behavior #84
Did you know that you can protect your peace?
Have you ever been in the store and seen Little toddlers throwing the biggest fit while the parent carried on as though nothing was happening?
If you’re like me, you’ve probably muttered to yourself, “I know that lady sees that little boy destroying the entire rack of pasta noodles!”
This thing has literally always puzzled me!
Ok. Fast forward to yesterday! I tell my 3 friends in our group chat that someone responded to an email I sent (reply all) intending to get a reaction out of me. I give a little context and then one of my faithful friends texts the following sentence:
“In behavior therapy, we have a tactic called “planned ignoring. Not to be confused with planned ignorance.”
Being the young scholar that I am, the term piqued my interest and I spent the next 20 minutes sitting in my car watching YouTube videos about this tactic.
The procedure of planned ignoring involves deliberate parental inattention to the occurrence of target child behaviors. In other words, parents identify behaviors that function as a means of getting their attention and selectively ignore them.
Okay, then what is extinction?
Planned ignoring is one the simplest types of extinction procedures. The term extinction refers to discontinuing rewarding a behavior that has previously been rewarded. Extinction is an intervention strategy that has been widely shown to be effective in reducing rates of inappropriate behaviors in children.
SO NATURALLY, I WANT TO ENGAGE THIS PRACTICE WITH ADULTS.
Some people move through the world manifesting their insecurities. They will attach certain insecurities to your being if they feel threatened.
So their behavior towards you is not always a reflection of what you have done or said, but who you are.
Therefore, that recenters how we should respond.
Planned ignoring is supposed to end the practice of rewarding bad behavior. Critics argue if it is the best strategy. What I unequivocally agree with that
You can ignore behavior without ignoring the person. We have to give the same energy to reinforcing replacement behavior. “How” you ignore can be as equally damaging as how you respond. At the end of the day, planned ignoring is less about the person and their behavior but more about how you respond to behavior when you have the power to reinforce better behavior through your own discipline.
Here are the three takeaways for me from the Bible.
Process how you internalize the behavior by managing your response time. You may not be able to ignore the behavior. Listen up!James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
Get your thoughts under control. Get to a place of peace before you join the other person where they want you to be. Prompt: when I’m triggered, what emotions do I feel and how do I manage them through my thoughts: Philippians 4:8, KJV: "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."Proverbs 3:5-7
King James Version
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

#80 Back to Church Series - Partnering with Media Ministry Experts w/ Greg James
God laid it on my heart to do a series entitled “Back to Church” where I have candid conversations with church leaders, Christian influencers and subject matter experts about ways we can return to the building, without forsaking the creativity and foresight it required to survive a continuing global pandemic.
I thought would be right to begin this series with my friend, Gregory James. Gregory is the media ministry director for the progressive church in Sacramento, CA, and the owner of James Media. James Media has provided production, post-production, audio and projection services for churches, non-profits, and global companies like YouTube and much more!
I’m also going to give 5 tips for partnering with a media ministry expert at the end!
Don’t try to do it yourself if you want to do it in excellence. You don’t have to be the talent and the tech. Trust professionals with your gifting. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT if you are picky but be open-minded. An experienced media expert knows the tricks of the trade and can push you creatively. Don’t be reluctant to pay. When you invest in a great media expert, you enhance your ministry's capacity and potential footprint. Have a pre-production meeting to discuss your vision, participants, and preferences. Don’t make any assumptions. The Holy Spirit is not stifled when we plan ahead. Pray and partner with your media ministry leaders and professionals. They are key to the spread of the Gospel message to the church and the unchurched. They will work more effectively when they are led by God. Kill the ego and dictatorship for the best outcomes.I want to thank Brother Greg for joining me and I hope you will share this episode if it has been helpful.
I’d also love it if you subscribed to my podcast and wrote a review! That helps me spread the word about the podcast, and more importantly, Jesus Christ!
Have a great day! Remember:
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

#79 Years Set Your Purpose in Motion!
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Later in Jeremiah 29:11 11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. God has a divine plan assigned to your life and it includes the family your in, the place you work, the school you went to and all you have had to ensure. CONSIDER CHRIST, our example.

#78 What is Toxic Positivity? Why it Sucks! Respond Like Jesus!
Do you know what can be extremely annoying? Toxic positivity! What is it? Why do people do it? What’s the alternative? That’s what we are going to dive into in this episode!
What is Toxic Positivity?
Toxic positivity is the belief that no matter how dire or difficult a situation is, people should maintain a positive mindset. It's a "good vibes only" approach to life.
What is Faith?
Faith is the assurance that God's word is true!
Challenge the reasons why we escape to toxic positivity:
We don't always know how to show up for people.
We lack empathy.
A passive way to redirect negativity.
What does the Bible Say: Read John 11 to learn about how JESUS sympathizes with his friends.

#74 Mastering Mondays: Every Play Matters
I’m dedicating this episode to the courageous and unapologetic Black woman, Asia Barnes, coach of the University of Arizona Women’s Basketball team.
Thank you for being a fierce, passionate, and loving competitor and for representing the Pac-12 conference with excellence.
Welcome to Seasoned with Salt Podcast. This is Dominique Beaumonte, your host. Every Monday, I am bringing a motivational thought, inspired by God's word, to keep you grounded, empowered, and courageously moving towards your goals!
Did you watch the 2021 NCAA College women’s basketball championship? The Stanford Cardinals played the Arizona Wildcats in a historic game between two Conference rivals who had already place twice.
The Wildcats were down one point with 6 seconds to go in the game. They had the ball but couldn’t convert. Time ran out and the Cardinal wins.
After the game, they asked Arizona’s coach, Asia Barnes, about the last heartbreaking moments of the game. She said;
“Against great teams like Stanford, we have to be a little bit better at the small things. It doesn't ever come down to the last shot. It comes down to the missed free throws down the stretch, the foul on the three-point shot, getting the turnovers and not converting. It's those things. It's never the last play, but it obviously just stings pretty bad.”
Losing can have a detrimental impact on our future efforts to win.
If the team spends every day focusing on the last mistake they made, they will be grossly unprepared for the next season.
So the challenge becomes: Don’t be crippled by your last shot
Winning has to be the byproduct of wholistic Preparation.
Every action matters.
This week, we will have the choice to labor on what we lost or focus on how to win.
So this week, every play matters.
Discipline is the name of the game.
1. This week, Don’t be lazy.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 - Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for [there is] no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
2. Prioritize God over your plan
Proverbs 16:3 Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.
3. Put your plan to work with the three Ps: Prayer, Practice and People!

My prayer is that those who listen will know that God's plan isn't paused because of bad seasons in our lives. God's will is ALWAYS IN PLAY. He gives us victory through a disaster!
