A Bollywood celebrity’s death has once again sparked conversations around mental health on social media; about the urgency to deal with the subject, about the need to take it seriously, about treating mental illness like any other physical illness, about everyone suddenly having become an expert and so on. There shouldn’t be an ounce of doubt that the conversation around mental health does need to happen, but the discourse needs to be an informed one so that pitfalls that harm the cause of its awareness and advocacy can be avoided.
