Can pelvic floor PT help urinary incontinence, painful sex or pelvic organ prolapse?
Join us today as we chat with Angela Fishman, licensed physical therapist and owner of My Pelvic Therapy, about who may benefit from pelvic therapy (hint: it’s everyone!). Angela is working to increase accessibility to pelvic floor therapy by offering sessions virtually so patients can rehabilitate their pelvic floors from the comfort of their own homes.
Angela’s “Magic 3” Exercises of pelvic floor therapy:
1. Pelvic floor muscle strengthening: 10 sets of holding a kegel for 10 seconds then relaxing for 10 seconds. Then complete up to 30 “quick flicks” of quick on, quick off kegels.
2. Deep core/abdominals: draw belly button inward and hold up to 10 seconds.
3. Coordination to manage pressure: Pull up and in on your pelvic floor and your belly, then clear your throat.
