She now credits her family's move during the war for her interest in human triumph and perseverance. Well, the announcement and next stage of the podcast is here.  I'm just as shocked as you may be, but God has a way of continually surprising me.  This has been something I've felt Him nudging me to do for quite a while and, to be honest, didn't do it simply out of fear of looking silly.  Well, that's just not a good enough reason any more.  So, with that I present to you Spinning Plates Meditates, a spin off from Spinning Plates Podcast.  Meditation is something I've been able to use as a tool in my own life the past couple of years.  It's helped me calm anxiety, remain focused, feel connected to myself, be a better parent and wife, relief stress, and simply declutter my very busy brain.  It can, also, be overwhelming if you have a perception of it like I did for so long.  I was always afraid I was "doing it wrong" or "could never sit still that long".  Reality is, though, that you can't mess up meditation.  You can't even do it wrong.  It's creating a space for you throughout your day to just be and just breathe.  I want to show you how you can incorporate faith into meditation.  I want to lead you through some of the tools and exercises that I turn to when I'm feeling overwhelmed.  I want to help you find ways to feel connected safe that it's not weird.  I'm on the journey with you.  Look for episodes to be sprinkled throughout.  How often, yet to be determined.  But this is our start.  Ready or not, let's meditate.

Recently I had the pleasure of hearing my new friend, Kara Williams, speak to a sweet group of local women I'm a part of.  She came to talk to us about business and interior design.  And, although we LOVED hearing from her, she mentioned something in her share that made me head straight for her afterwards.  I'm learning to boldly ask those I'm feeling called to grab, "Would you be on my podcast?"  I know there are people who need to hear about your story dealing with anxiety.  Friends, anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year. (according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America).  We all know someone or are someone who has a level of anxiety needs to be managed.  In this episode, Kara shares with us her life-long struggle with anxiety and what tools she's been able to use to help not only address it, but actually give it space in her life and grace in the process.  Today is an important episode.  If you hear something that you think would help someone else, please share it. Friend, it's a choice. I spent years living settled and complacent. I spent countless hours thinking I SHOULD do something. I felt like I could never change. I felt like my issues were unfixable. I felt like I could never be consistent. I would be frustrated or snappy, thinking it was the result of others actions that made me feel that way. Until the day I realized I get to choose. Truly choose. Despite circumstances or situations, I get to choose to take care of my mind, body, and soul. I get to choose what I fuel myself with. I get to choose to move. I get to choose how I react. I didn't start out nailing it every day and I still don't nail it every day, but when it doesn't go the way I planned I do know I get to choose how I keep going. How I show myself and others grace in the process. How I show up! Friend, it's a choice. It's up to you and only you to make it. Listen to this episode, please.
