Don’t just take our word for it . . . take His! We would encourage you to spend time examining the following Scriptures that shaped this sermon: Luke 24:13-35.

What is the process by which Jesus reveals himself to a disciple? In the story of the two disciples on the Road to Emmaus, Jesus engages them in three ways:

In their pain – “counselor Jesus” With the Scriptures – “teacher Jesus” At a table – “host Jesus” What “activates” Jesus’ compassion? What is a Christ-center hermeneutic? Where do you most consistently meet Jesus (pain, Scripture, community)? Have you had an experience of pain, struggle, or difficultly that provided the opportunity for Jesus to show up? What is your practice for engaging Scripture? What does offering Jesus an “invitation” look like? Why is community important for meeting with Jesus?
